I just recently moved out of Coffeetree Apartments so I think it's only appropriate to write a review of my time living there! I lived in this apartment complex for about 2 and a half years and absolutely loved it. Everyone keeps to themselves for the most part and the complex itself is super quiet. I lived by myself (the complex only has studio/1 bed) and I felt extremely safe. Maintenance is always on top of requests made and they make an effort to communicate to each resident when water or power gets turned off for whatever reason. If you are a 20 something year old looking for your first place this is a great apartment complex!!! Move out went super smoothly, I received my deposit and was not charged for any extra BS. Good experience living here my 2+ years, but was disappointed upon MOVE-OUT. Though I'd inquired about the deposit-refund process multiple times in meticulous detail, the staff wasn't entirely truthful upfront about what they would deduct from my deposit. In my case, myself and two others spent 6 hours cleaning my tiny 450 sq. foot studio (including the major stuff: pulling out and cleaning under appliances, scraping and re-caulking the tub, and deep cleaning the oven). We left the place immaculate. Excluding a carpet cleaning, I was still charged $75.00 for "General Apartment Cleaning." I was never told about this fee prior; rather, I was informed ONLY about carpet and painting charges. Just seems like your average BS charge. I could have saved 6 hours of cleaning (and money on cleaning materials). Just feel overall misled, and it's unfortunate that this spoiled the great review I was planning on leaving prior to me receiving a deposit with the aforementioned "General" cleaning deductions. Mind you, an itemization of what was "unclean" was never offered as proof. This has unfortunately reaffirmed the typical lower-than-average expectations of ethics that society holds for property management. Bummer. read more

The location is perfect The apartments look cute from the outside The studios are shitty The one bedrooms are laid out weird And the two bedroom is also laid out weird. The staff is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! I subleased a room for almost a month and a half, we were supposed to sign a lease but Coffeetree never pushed it. All said and done , when The other tenant and I moved out, the leasing office was super shady, saying even tho i " lived there I had to move out , they didn't need to give me a 30 day notice " I went to Campbell PD to report them and the cops said what they're doing is completely illegal. I confronted the leasing office and they were just like oh sorry nothing we can do. They ended up letting the other tenets move into a one bedroom and when I turned my application in to get my own , they denied me. They didn't want me living there. The leasing office was always rude and inconsiderate of their tenants but this just showed how they really before. Before I would have for sure recommended this place but now I would never . I've lived here for over a year and a half and have loved it so much that my boyfriend and I are upgrading to a one bedroom (I'm currently in a remodeled junior one bedroom and love it). The leasing staff is incredibly kind and super quick with their responses. The complex's upgrades to units are beautifully done and they are extremely pet friendly/conscious. The neighborhood is nice, safe and the fact that Starbucks/Pennylane is right across the street is a great bonus. Safeway is a five minute walk and Target is a five minute drive. Great location, fair price and excellent units. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

I lived here for more than two years now, i had left because of a death of a family member . coffee tree only offers studio and junior bed room, i went with the junior bed room since it was a bit more spacious and had a walk in closet and another smaller closet. management is friendly and good. haven't had a problem when things needed to get replaced. They have a 24/7 maintenance line which is good. parking is no issue there was parking on site and it isn't hard to find parking on the street. They are pet friendly as well. neighbors were friendly and didn't had any problems with any one. they offer remolded and non remolded. i had the non remolded which was still up to date and nice. overall its a quiet and nice place to live in. read more

Reviews for apts are always bias so I'll just tell you what I know and let you decide if I'm being high maintenance, but I definitely think you should know before moving in here. - the rent for the jr 1 bedroom was 950 just a couple years ago. It's 1475 now. From the other yelp reviews and what I've seen that's an almost 40% uplift bc of market prices in the Bay Area increasing but no improvements have been made. - when I first moved in the Comcast subscription to the place was still under the previous tenant, which means I couldn't setup my cable until his name was off the address. They have a contract with Comcast at coffeetree but they made me do the work to contact he Comcast rep and cancel the precious tenants contract. This delayed cable at my place for 3 weeks after moving in. They didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. - if your apt windows are facing the back of the complex you will get 0 sunlight ever coming into your apt. They don't tell you that. - if you get a jr, 1 bedroom there are no windows in the bedroom. add that with the 0 sunlight and it's really hard to get up in the morning bc your place gets no natural lighting. Your room is literally a cave. Go visit the campus in person during the morning and you will see what I mean. - if you're expecting a pool and gym for the price, try it first. Pool is unheated all year and it's under shade so it's freezing. The gyms equipment is all broken. The only equipment that works is the treadmill. - I asked for maintenance on my sink 3 times before it got fixed. First time he left an illegible note and did nothing. 2nd time he fixed it but left a leaking pipe. 3rd time it's finally fixed. - my car had been broken into on the lot that is supposed to be patrolled. FINALLY after all of this ... I'm on a family vacation now and I'm being delayed 1 day past rent. I make a phone call to see if there's any way they can make an exception for me on paying the late fee. She says no, you pay the late fee And it has to be a money order. Come on... I know this is my fault. Don't get me wrong. But your place is overpriced, there's a list of things above where you don't try to earn the value in the price you're charging, and now you are unwilling to help a tenant who has never missed a single payment. I think other places might be more accommodating or focused on customer service, but maybe that's just me. I don't know what it is for anyone else. Anyways. I've lived at Coffeetree apartments for a little over a year now and it's been an extremely enjoyable experience. I actually never write yelp reviews but feel inclined to do so since I'm moving at the end of this month (only for work or else I would definitely stay here). The property managers (Marie & Gerry) are really great people. They're very friendly and kind and the move in process was super easy and hassle free. Any time I called with a maintenance request (which was few and far in between) it was done within a few hours which I really appreciated. The complex allows no pets and only offers studio-1 bedrooms (mostly young professionals and couples living here). For this reason the complex is always quiet which is also a huge plus. There are younger people who live here (myself included ) but I've never been kept up or heard any loud partying or anything too obnoxious. The complex is well kept and clean, decent gym & pool, 2 laundry facilities, and it's right across Safeway (super convenient). The area is also safe, as I've never seen or heard anything otherwise in my time here. I live in their Jr. 1 bedroom and I love it. Its definitely a great floor plan which offers a "loft" style room and has more than an enough space for 1 person! The rent for the units here have gone up, and granted the complex is older, but sadly the rent has gone up everywhere and so the prices here are very comparable to what is offered in this area. I did a search for comparable units in the area and this is by far the best deal. All the units in the same price range were much older and in much older uglier complexes. I would definitely recommend this place over and over again and I'm sad to go! Only cons: No jacuzzi Apartments aren't updated (although they're a lot less old than other complexes I've lived in/seen) No dishwasher No AC so invest in a good fan for the summer! I found this apartment through apartmentrating.com. For most of the apartments rated pretty low on that site it got pretty good reviews. So I gave it a shot and got it. I have been living in this one bedroom apartment for about one month and haven't got any issue yet. The community is small and always clean. The property manager are friendly and response fast, both of them. What I really like about this community is that because this is all one bedroom units I rarely see big families with kids. I guess most of the people living here are single professionals or young couples hence really really quiet at night. And also guest parking lots are always plenty. Back to the price, I found it is one of the lowest in the area. Some other upscaled apartments might offer in-unit washer or dryer ,bigger kitchen or bigger bathroom or spacious gym but they ask a lot higher, talking about close to $2,000 today.You get what you are paying for . So really figure out what comes first. The apartment doesn't have air conditioning and microwave. You'll need to buy at least one microwave( under $100 you can get a good one already). The rent includes water and you will only pay the rent and your own other bills. Hope it helps other apartment hunters read more

I've lived here for 23 years - since separating from my ex. The complex has a very low crime rate. No break-ins that I know of. :-) On premise managers do not turn over quickly so it is well managed. Recent managers are always friendly, professional and nice people. Also love the maintenance staff. They have always been helpful, but over the last ~5 years they have been excellent. I was raised on a farm so I have always done my own maintenance on my house and girlfriend's condo. Recently the maintenance person showed me a couple tricks that may come in handy at my girlfriend's condo. Luckily maintenance problems are rare. The bad - rent has tripled over the last 23 years. The only reason I didn't move it has always been in line with market rates. :-) read more

Very expensive for the space you get. The maintaince is just okay when something needs to be fixed. But no new upgrade are done until you move out. The outside of the complex is not well kept. Laundry rooms are dirty and always 1 or 2 washers are out of service. Beware of the rules when you move out to get your Security Deposit back. The manager does not tell you what all needs to be cleaned to get your full refund and then charges you for things that you could of done yourself. The apts are in a good location. Close to stores, gas and food. Security does not patrol nightly and my car was broken into twice, once the complete tire was stolen. Walls are very thin and you can for sure hear your neighbors. Shop around for something better, even if you have to pay a little more. read more

I would rate this place as 2 stars. Price used to be reasonable, but in the current market place it is overpriced for what you get. Lots of empty store fronts around here, and kids use the parking lot next door for stakeboarding making a lot of noise late into the night. My apartment is showing its age, plumbing and appliances are nearing the end of their life. My stove is not functioning well, and when I reported it to management, they pretty much told me, too bad. I do like the large walk in closet though, definitely the high point of the room. As it stands, it's small space for the price, and lack of maintenance has led me to decide to move on. read more

I lived here from July 2007 to January 2008 and was really quite pleased with it. The rent was affordable, especially for the size and cleanliness of the apartment when I moved in. I had a Junior Studio Apartment, and while I am accustomed to more space, it was more than sufficient for the cost. The kitchen was fine, and I had a nice view into my living room. The living room was nicely sized and there was about a 6 foot partition wall which seperated my 'bedroom' from the living area. The best part of the small bedroom (which was big enough to fit a queen sized bed and thats all), was the massive walk in closet. Very nice with shelves as well on one side. The bathroom was big enough for me and all my stuff, and there was a nice walk out patio from my living room that was fenced off. The staff was always super nice and friendly and performed all my maintenance in a very timely manner. I used to lay out by the pool all the time as it was barely busy and always quiet. The overall community was quiet and calm. People tended to stick to thier own thing. The only downfall was no laundry in my own apartment, but I never had to fiddle for change in the community laundry room, bc they utilize a card system which deducts money from your debit card! No Change Necessary which was awesome!!! Overall the only reason I moved out was bc on my salary, I really needed a lower rent place, but you'll be pleasantly content with the experience at Coffeetree! read more

Have lived here for 5 years and the value of Coffeetree CANNOT be beat. Specifically, the front office is great and always available and additionally they have fixed 99% of any maintenance issues on the same day. Marie and Keanna are awesome. My husband and I lived here 2014-2016 and we absolutely loved it. The complex is quiet, safe, and in a great location. It is also well kept and beautiful. The management staff was wonderful as well as maintenance. We left because we wanted a bigger place, but now we are moving back next month! The prices are good for the area. Only downside is there are no laundry units inside the apartments, but they have a couple laundry rooms throughout the complex. Also! They allow pets!! read more

I have lived here now for 6 months and anyone who knows me will tell you that I have the worst luck when it comes to staying in one place; for whatever reason, I have had to move every year of my life for at least the past 20 years. I have to say that this place just may be the reason I stay in an apartment! The staff here is AMAZING! I have had some random plumbing issues and right away they are on it. The maintenance guy is so nice, displays the best customer service (and I am a recruiter, so I can tell a solid employee when I meet one). When one of my cats died, they offered to watch my other cat there in their office (it was for one day while I was on a trip). Dealing with leaving for a trip out of the country while having to put my other cat down, well they were just really there for me. This is a very quiet and clean complex. When my friends, or even the DoorDash guy come over, I am always told what a beautiful place it is! Also, the staff takes the time to have the community mingle, they throw ice cream socials and raffle off free rent! I moved in about three weeks ago to a remodeled junior apartment. I absolutely love it, especially seeing the comparison to the one that has not been remodeled, NIGHT & DAY! I placed a hold on this unit about a month before i moved it, while it was still being renovated. Maria and Cherry invited me over a couple of times to see the process as it was being remodeled. They have made my move-in process so smooth and comforting. I did have one maintenance issue, but it was taken care of the same day!!! I have lived at other complexes where it takes days, sometimes weeks to get things fixed. I am just so happy that I can call this home, and I know I will be living here for a long time. I recommend renting here, especially the remodel units, since everything is brand new! If the remodel is not in your budget the regular ones are cute too, the staff makes sure it is kept up nice. read more

This review is from my experience living here from 2010-2011, I have no idea how it is here currently. My boyfriend at the time and I moved here after I graduated high school, and we loved the fact that (at the time) the rent for the jr one bedroom was only $950 a month. The same week we moved in, one of our neighbors were moving out, and they threw a loud party until 3 or 4 in the morning and stunk up the stairwell with the smell if beer and cigarettes. The next morning, I get a call from the property manager and she was trying to blame the noise on us! When I told her what apartment was really making the noise, she was like "oh, they're moving out, I guess they threw a party." And she didnt even apologize for trying to blame it on us! Shortly after that, we had some friends over to go swimming. A friend did a flip into the pool, and the same manager came outside and threatened to CALL THE COPS on him! Just for a flip into the pool! And while she was yelling at him, 2 young girls were flipping into the pool, and of course she didn't yell at them. Maybe a month later, a friend of mind and her boyfriend were over, and they were parked in the "Future Residents" spot at around 8 or 9 pm (which is okay since it's after office hours) and they were in the car talking and saying goodbye because the boyfriend was going home, and the SAME manager came out and yelled at them to move. When they brought up the fact that it was after office hours, all of a sudden she wanted them to move because "they were screaming at each other and making too much noise". They were in the car, windows up because it was autumn and it was chilly at night, and they were just saying goodbye to each other, not yelling at each other. And my friend has a little service dog which she had in the car with her, and the manager said she couldn't bring the dog in the apartment. My friend proceeded to show the the service dog paperwork, and the manager gave her attitude. The next day, the manager called me to 1) tell me I COULNT HAVE THOSE FRIENDS OVER AGAIN because they "yelled at her for no reason", and 2) ask me if that friends dog really is a service dog (which is illegal to ask because she already saw the paperwork). There were also several other incidents that happened (including barely giving us a fraction of our deposit back, even though we shampooed the carpets and filled in all the holes in the walls from nails), but I feel like the examples are sufficient enough. I dont know if this manager (Gerry Ewalt) is still the manager or not, but she made our time at Coffeetree very difficult. We ultimately left because of her, plus the fact that our rent was about to jump from $950 a month to $1,200 a month (woah! Right?) after our lease was up. My experience at Coffeetree was poor, to say the least. It is a cute complex with potential, but the manager made living there horrible for us, probably because it's easy to take out her poor sad life on the young tenants. read more

I lived at coffeetree for close to 2 years and the experience was sweet. I would not have moved if Coffeetree had 2 bed units. As for the rent, I paid $1575 for a junior 1-bed till July 2015 which I would say is one of the most economical I know (I am sure people looking around for an apartment would agree). Given the rent, the only con I can point out is the unit doesn't come with A/C. The reasons I loved staying at Coffeetree are: 1. The management, both Gerry and Marie, are very caring, extremely efficient and responsive. They really make you feel home. Every time I asked for maintenance, either at the office, by phone or email, the job would be done the same day or latest by the next day. 2. The location is also superb. Its right next to the cheapest gas station in the area, you can walk to Hash House (a very popular brunch place), or walk to Safeway, Subway, Oakmont produce and many others. Westgate mall with Walmart, Target and other stores is just a 5 min drive. 3. The community is always kept clean. I never used the swimming pool though so can't comment on it. 4. There are ample parking spaces within the community and also on the street. My guests could always find an open parking space inside. 5. The community is also very quiet and is peaceful, even on weekends. 6. Gym is pretty decent. It does have free weights too (not a lot though). 7. The common laundry rooms are spacious, clean and available 24 hours a day and I never had any problems finding a vacant machine. Hope this helps! read more

I've been living at CoffeeTree in their Jr 1-bedroom for about 3 months now. The layout for the Jr is a bit different, but i really like it. Be sure to have them show it to you beforehand. Some may not find it as appealing. First and foremost, the apartment is very clean. I love all of the storage space - from the large walk-in closet, under the counter cabinets in the bathroom, and the pantry/cabinets in the kitchen area. I like cooking (A lot), and even i'm left with extra space to store cooking supplies. At move-in, there were a few cosmetic issues, but i told the management, and they took care of it right away - next day :) The stove/ oven is a bit outdated, but I've had absolutely no problems with it and the refrigerator was brand new when i moved in. Management had also let me know before i moved in that there was a possibility that the stove would be older, so good on them for being upfront and honest. The unit does not come with AC, but i like cheap electric bills, and so far, the heat really hasn't been too bad (i moved in May). If your windows are open at night, yes, you can hear cars and the occasional skate boarder, but the residents at Coffeetree themselves are all very nice and quiet and tend to do their own thing. Some people do have kids, but I've never had a problem with noise - pretty well behaved for kids :) The Pool and workout room suits its purpose. I use the treadmill and weights nearly everyday, and it gets the job done. But if you want more than the basics, definitely join a fitness club. The laundry facility is always in working order, just don't do your laundry Sunday night when everyone else is - it will be hard to get a machine. As far as the security deposit goes, i have had my share of horrible management that squeezes you for everything your worth. CoffeeTree Managemtn let me know that regardless of how clean the place is when i leave, they will always do a thorough cleaning and repainting, and not to expect the deposit back. At least they were up front about it - which is more than i can say about other places I've lived. All in all, for the price, this place is very clean and reasonable. It's centrally located, and the cheapest gas ever is just right across the street. Safeway is just a walk across the street, and having the Westfield Valley Fair mall not even 10 minutes away doesn't hurt either. If you are single, i would definitely recommend CoffeeTree. If you are couple without too much stuff, I'd recommend it, just be sure to get the 1 bedroom layout. read more

The apartment itself was alright, I made it very homey very cute and lived there alone for a year. During this time, I was a little confused about the way staff Gerry and Marie to be exact communicate with tenants...just through notices on their door. I got a three day comply or quit it seems over EVERY LITTLE THING including my little brother hopping my fence (which i told him to do) to grab his ski jacket. I felt uncomfortable after a few passive aggresive interactions with staff, both people in that office. Very judgemental and it seemed like i couldnt do anything right and i was hardly home at all, probably twice a week at the most. I didnt renew my lease, im so excited to move the eff on from this place, no pool, over priced, washer and dryers break every two seconds,, THEY TOWED FOUR OF MY FRIENDS CARS AFTER THEY WERE PARKED THERE FOR TWENTY MINUTES. Neighbors that will call the cops on you for the door slamming whilst you try and sweep your front walkway. (No lie, happened to me twice). God this was an awful experience. I lived at Coffeetree Apartments from 2010 until July 2015, and overall my experience there was not good. They raise the rent more than 10 percent every year; when I moved in it was $950 per month for a Junior One Bedroom, and when I moved out it was $1650. The units are shoddy, dim, and shoebox-looking. The $950 per month price is really all its worth. Aside from the ugly apartment, the staff at Coffeetree is very unprofessional and unpleasant to deal with. If I cataloged every time I had a negative experience at the Leasing Office, I'd be typing here all day. Missing mail and packages, ignored repair requests, refusal of a yearly carpet shampoo, and getting yelled at by the Maintenance staff are just a few of the issues I had there. At face value, the complex itself looks pretty good. The landscaping is nice and it's well maintained. The pool is small, but they keep it clean and I had some really nice days in the summer hanging out by the pool. The fitness center is a joke...out of date equipment, squeaky treadmills, and a soda machine. Weird. I would not recommend that anyone move in here, unless you don't mind overpriced rent and you're never at home. read more
