My husband is a Type A planner and his need to plan and research went too far this time. He was still in the research phase of finding a CPA with only three weeks to go until the annual deadline. Lucky for us this office was able to fit us in for an appointment the same week my husband called. We met with Larry for an hour and went over all of the information that would be needed for our filing. He was very friendly and gave us the confidence we were missing at the chain tax preparation company. Our documents were ready for signatures in less than a week. The fee for preparation was around the same as the chain place, but with much better service.

I had not heard anything for a while so I sent an email to see what the status is and if he is in need of maybe more documentation. Nothing, a week later again an email. Nothing . Then a call , then another call , left messages.. and so on. Went to his office and asked a desk clerk if they had heard form Lee. I was kind of worried that something had happened to him. I fully understand that tax season is busy, but you need to keep your client in the loop. Tax day comes and goes!!!!! I , thank god, had a relative who I called and asked what I can do and he filed an extension for me. NONE had been filed!!!! Finally I received an email from Lee about a week after tax due date. He is sorry, he was really sick. Mmmm, I totally get it , one can get sick and fall behind , than send out an email to all affected , and say there is a delay and extensions will be filed ( they are free btw) . You just can't let your client hang like that. As much as I like Lee as a person, I can't go back and risk a potential missed deadline again.

During that time my contact was mainly with Natoshia. I found her to not return phone calls timely or at all sometimes, disregard questions and most recently ignore direct requests. I asked that we be present when they reviewed my very confused 84 year old mother in laws taxes and it was ignored. They reviewed the taxes without someone coherent being there and then requested data pertaining to said taxes after they were finalized. My advice to anyone employing Ascend and dealing with Natoshia is to casually mention you know how to file a complaint with the Nevada State Board of Accountancy.
