I would spend HOURS going through every row of sheet music books. I found many unique treasures that you would not come across at other stores. Sadly, I discovered that they moved (about 4 years ago, I was told) to a small shopping center next door. I was disappointed that their selection has dwindled to not much more than the ubiquitous Music and Arts stores. Most of their selection is unsurprising. "Easy" editions also take up much of the space, so in the event that you find something interesting, it may be too easy. Gone are the grand pianos. Gone is the room filled with orchestra and band music. Don't get me wrong, it's fine for what it is. It's an OK music store that can probably meet the needs of most young students. More seasoned players may not find much of interest. I suppose that interest in sheet music has been in decline and/or it's easier to carry a larger selection on line. The staff was pleasant. The store was neat.

In order for our child to learn an instrument, we invested in a bell/ drum kit - almost $600. It is still sitting here unused, which is typical for some kids to experiment before they find the right instrument. Menchey's offered to buy it back at their MAXIMUM price of - get ready- 75 bucks!!! Mint condition. They would have gone onto resell or rent this instrument for about $500 to someone else!!! We will sell it to someone else, thank you. Greedy, overpriced, and uncaring!!! Well established, entrenched in every school system- they may look good on the outside- but at this point, this "Family Owned" business seems dysfunctional. If we could rewind the clock, we'd never patronize this corporation.

This store came as a recommendation from my former piano teacher, Elizabeth B, when I started taking lessons from her. I had the most pleasant experience with Jarl, who I believe is the Executive Director. He showed me a variety of new pianos that were within my budget as I was on the "Rent to Own" plan. I ended up buying a beautiful Knabe upright, which still has it's beautiful color and shine after all these years. Jarl answered many of my questions after the purchase and arranged for a great delivery (I forget the name of the company but I should find out as I need them again to move my piano - LOL) that came within the time frame and it was quick and efficient. I expect…read moreemployees of music stores to be familiar with all types of instruments, and that certainly isn't the case here. My first visit was for a new set of strings for my violin. I asked the person working at the counter to see their selection of violin strings and was given viola strings. While these two instruments are very similar, their strings are not interchangeable, and someone who works in a music shop should know the difference. My second and final visit was to get a shoulder rest for a 1/2 size violin. When asked to see the selection of shoulder rests, the staff had no clue what I was talking about. This is not acceptable of music store employees!! The staff should be very familiar with all products and should have basic knowledge of all instruments. I'm not a believer of the third time being the charm so I will not be returning to this store again. There are too many music shops in the area to have to settle for such incompetence.

I didn't know what to expect from some calls she had made to other places before finding Scott & Co~ They treated her many questions with kind consideration answering them all and took the time to explain things about the pieces that we were not aware of. All the staff that we happened to see were genuinely kind to us and it wasn't that we were "rich" or looked so as we aren't and didn't it's just how they treat people. They are HONEST, fair and knowledgeable and that's what you want in a jewelry store. Scott & Co was hosting an open house gathering that gave us the chance to go in and meet the staff and see the shop. My husband collects gems and would take them to the other shop to have them set. This could result in a couple hundred dollars after the setting and service. We like when all repairs are done in house (which Scott's also does). Brock was super helpful and tried to go above to help us. The prices to have 2 items repaired was very reasonable. We were not however impressed at all with their gemologist. She was very stand offish, and unwilling to see the relationship that we were trying to build with the company as a whole. The other store we used, he could go in and the gemologist was willing to look at the stone(s) and quickly check them to advise if they were worth putting into a setting or not. She was able to give a ballpark on value before setting. Nothing was in writing or official but it gave us data needed to proceed or not. This relationship gave the store the business of setting our stones and then if needed, we'd pay for the official appraisal. This relationship lasted over 10+ years. What really was irritating was the receipt stated $45 for the appraisal, mapping, etc. this gemologist said that the price didn't include the appraisal because that's $100. The $45 only included mapping. First, it seems they need to amend their invoices to properly show the service because when I see appraisal, mapping the comma indicates it's both. He tried to explain the relationship we had with this other jewelry store and she wanted no part of it. They have the right to conduct business how they want. I get that, but she came across as "I won't do this" or "I won't do that". She never consulted with a manager or the owner to see if this could be something as a company they would do. I'm not so much faulting the decision as much as how snooty she was about it.

I had not originally known about this store but it showed up as being on the route I would be taking. Knowing nothing about this store, it seemed like a gamble. When we arrived it was 2 minutes before they opened. We walked down to the store slowly and it was now past opening time. The door was locked. We waited a few minutes...still locked. I was considering calling it a day on this one but my partner suggested waiting until 10 minutes past opening time just to give them a chance. ...and boy is she a smart lady! They opened the door 2 minutes later and when I went inside I was overwhelmed. This was a store that I had added to my itinerary last minute and I ended up getting 6 albums here and spending over $100. These were all things I had been looking for, even...some of which I had issues finding other than online in pricy situations. Staff and owned were great...other than opening a few minutes late, but really, who cares when you can get such good finds? They also sell electronics if you need a system to play your new finds on!
