As a first time home buyer the process was very unfamiliar and sometimes frustrating, but Vanessa was always very patient, professional and understanding. The building is clean. The customer service is horrendous from the top down…read more Pros - Building is clean Cons - Worst customer service ever!!!! The super is not readily accessible. He is always late when an appointment is made (minimum of 1 hour late). He visibly annoyed if you have an issue. If you happen to be locked out of your apartment and it is a weekend you can be sure he will take an eternity to assist you and his relatives will say he is in Long Island when he is just across the street. For plumbing issues his solution is to put toilet paper in the bin and not in the toilet. Calling the local office is very frustrating. The ladies who answer the phones can never offer answers to your questions and the people you need always send you to voicemail. Nobody returns calls nor do they respond to emails. The ladies are quite content to tell you they sent an email and they can do nothing else about your issue - because calling somebody is not an option. If your situation is urgent and you ask them who will tend to it in the absence of the specific individual they will ask you what you want them to do. The head office is not helpful either. They have the same attitude as the local office except they do not even care to listen to what went wrong they just try to run you off the phone immediately or pass you on to someone else - usually a voicemail. The financial controller is very condescending and has no business interfacing with any tenants. Nobody every apologizes for their errors. They charge fees for unstated rules and suggest taking you to court even when you have no arrears on your account. All in all it is a terrible company and that is why tenants are leaving Payment system is archaic! You have to mail a check after they send you a rent request letter

In the past several years the complex itself has deteriorated immensely. The hallways need painting, the stairway steps are falling apart and the management team gives you a song and a dance when you call them to advise them of these same issues. Mind you, there are more to report. Currently, they've been without gas for over 3 months. One of the tenets decided to get an unlicensed contractor to do work in the unit below my parents. The unlicensed contractor drilled a hole through a gas pipe that could have killed my elderly parents. They, along with 30 other families have NO GAS. My mother is cooking on an electric stove while I continue to pay their mortgage. This is UNACCEPTABLE. I've call the Management Office and Con ED to obtain the real story behind this incident. I don't know who is lying. The Con Edison personnel has been forthright, checking their computers and reading to me the status of the Melrose Court fiasco. This is not a third world country. Get the gas back on. I am sure Melrose Court would not like if all 30 plus families decided not to pay their mortgage. Take it to Housing Court. guess who will win. Do the right thing.
