Even wrote down the haircut I wanted in French so there would not be any communication issues. They ruined my hair with layers when I did not ask for it. Not only did they ruin my hair with choppy layers but also the customer service is terrible ! I couldn't stop crying after my haircut and first visit and the owner Sam reached out to me asking for me to go visit again. He wanted to "fix" my haircut and I went on the same day as I appreciated the gesture. There was NO APOLOGY whatsoever . I got soaked in the rain the second time I went (as it was raining) . Sam started lecturing me on the fact that I'm young, my hair will grow back etc . They did not even offer some hot water or anything. There are two owners . One is a woman and the other is a man named Sam. The woman gave me a haircut and she chopped everything off! I said I did not want conditioner and she kept saying I need it. Also, I didn't want layers she gave me layers. I wrote it down in French, exactly the haircut I wanted but she refused to read it. Sam refused to apologize for any of this- my discomfort, the time I spent visiting them the horrible haircut. According to him, it was not horrible. They said I was lucky to get to sit on their chair. I never met such arrogant and self obsessed hair dressers. Never visit them again. Avoid at all cost if you care about your hair. Now I have a choppy cheap chair it. Sam didn't have a curve scissors to adjust the layers. They are not well educated in the hair space at all. Worst haircut of my life. It will take years before my hair grows back. Worst ever!!

Over a year later, hair colourists at other salons still make comments about the horrible dye job I have growing out. Apparently, the artist here also used metallic dye when she gave me the blotchy, botched balayage job, which is a no-no for hair, has ruined it, and has made it hard to correct the color. Not only was the hair colouring a horrible experience, but when I arrived, I very clearly remember waiting 15 minutes for the receptionist to acknowledge me while she was on the phone. Why do I remember this? Because the stylist came out finally after I was checked in and scolded me for being late! Wow, really? Then the appointment happened. It lasted HOURS because the colourist messed up and had to try again. She was ROUGH and got colour all over my face. This is when I was seriously trying not to cry. She never got it right. After the appointment, the stylist who messed up the colour offered a second appointment to fix it in the future. No thanks - I'm not reliving that experience! Icing on the cake is how over a year later stylists continue to comment on the horrible job done on the end of my hair, finally growing out. I'm thankful that it's almost all gone now and that I've found some better stylists to return to. Ultimately, I thought I was making an educated decision coming here with all the great reviews, but years later I still look back at this as one traumatic experience. Not recommended.

The fact that this did not even come up in conversation I think says something about the calm atmosphere that prevails at Studio M & W! Nice salon touches include: - a very stylish knee-length black robe with pleated tie belt (worn underneath the clipping-catcher longer robe) - choice of fizzy or still water ... - ... which came on a platter cocoa-sprinkled with the stencilled monogram of the salon - fancy! And the cut? He expertly and precisely interpreted my need for an updating of my assymetric style into something "un peu plus boheme, un peu plus exageré" which is exactly what I got. And the proof of the pudding - my hair was admired by strangers not once but twice during my walk back to my flat!

My hairdresser back home in Ontario had been doing my hair for 15yrs. She knew her products, knew her job, and had major pride in her work. I have been trying to find someone like this since I got here. I really thought this one was it. They're FB reviews are great, as is their website reviews. It took me an hr and a half to get there as they are on the south shore, and I had to take public transit. Google Maps isn't up to date on their address, so I got lost. But that's not their fault at all. I guess I should start with the fact that I made an appt over a month in advance, but no one had ever called me to confirm. So I called again that morning to make sure I would be seen. My appt was for 4pm. I after getting lost, I get there and there are 2 hairstylists working, and each are braiding hair. I sat down to wait. I was super hungry after 30 min, so I asked if I had time to go and eat, and was told I should hurry. (Total B.S). So I went to eat, got back and waited....and waited..... and waited. After an hr one of the hairstylists asked me what I was getting done, and I said relax, deep condition, style with a trim. She picked a relaxer I really didn't want, so I asked if I could choose my own. She asked what I'd like, and I stated Motions. She said ok, but never even got the box. She used her choice, even after I mentioned what I'd like. I waited 3.5 hrs for someone to work on me. I didn't leave because it had taken 1.5hrs to get there and I didn't have time to go anywhere else. This was for my wedding in a weeks time. I needed it done that day. So after all of the wait I was finally seen. She was just ok. I had to ask that she trim my hair as the last stylist I went to botched that, and I needed it to be fixed. In the end when I paid, it was $105. That's more than I've ever paid, especially for such a long wait, and a lack luster job. When I checked my email, I noted I was charged $15 to trim my ends. WHAT?? So you make me wait, and instead of having pride in your work, and making my hair look the best it could, you charged me to trim off my spit ends? B.S. AND she didn't even trim my bangs or make the left and right side match, I had to do it myself when I got home. If you're going to charge me to trim my hair, then do a damn good job. Lastly her assistant offered to drive me back to the metro. But you'd think if she offered she'd know where it is. Closest one is Bonaventure or Longueuil. She drove me all the way to D'Iberville. It took me longer to get home from the metro than it did to get to the damn salon. All in all, I will NOT be returning to this salon. My hair was pretty decent, and nice and silky. But the experience I had was extremely sub par. I am not happy at all with this place. Where are the salons that give a damn? Where is the pride in your work? Unacceptable.
