When making a new appointment you should expect to wait; everyone is very booked up but definitely worth the wait! Dimitra fixed my messy mane after a new colourist took over after my old colourist moved to the UK. I always sit down and just ask her to fix my hair and she always knows what to do and makes it look beautiful. Joe cuts my hair without only ever taking off just as much as is needed and doesn't over style or use to many products. The receptionist are sweet, friendly and very efficient. Love love love this place!

I am very particular so I went through a lot of places and their reviews before deciding on Helmet Salon for a hair cut and a completely new look after having super long hair for months!! Booking an appointment was easy and a smooth process. They booked me in for the time slot I was free and told me I would get Sacha. Got there for my haircut and met Sacha. We discussed the photos I had saved and the look I was going for at length and he was very patient and responsive! We agreed on a style and he gave me exactly the same look I was going for!!! I was very nervous, as my hair is complicated to cut. I have always had very thick, curly and long hair and was worried going in, but he promised that was his favourite type to cut. Clearly that's true because he did a great job!! Took his time with the cut, gave me a great blow dry and then straightened my hair!! That's where Bizarde comes in. I used to have fairly frizzy and flat hair, which I washed way too often and didn't condition properly. Staff at Bizarde is specialized in dry cuts without washing, which is far less abrasive on hair - they've always beautifully refreshed my lengths with select snips and killer advice. Now I wash my hair with shampoo less often, take great care in conditioning my lengths with products they've recommended, and brush my hair at least three times a day to favor the oil distribution from the roots to the lengths, and my hair has never looked so beautiful. I am delighted. The place is also gorgeous: an urban, quirky jungle with lovely tunes with friendly, laidback staff. They have a way of making you feel right at home. All for a reasonable $60, tax and tip inclusive, per session.

However, the next day I was called and told my appointment was cancelled because my colorist did not feel comfortable bleaching my hair and was afraid of damaging it. I understand that everyone has their own comfort levels and boundaries, but I am not sure she is in the right line of work. All bleach damages hair - I am fully aware of this! I am an adult capable of making my own decisions. It seems strange to make an appointment for a new client and then cancel on them the next day. A little unprofessional, and pretty crushing for someone who is finally able to afford these expensive services! If you don't want your new client, say so at the consultation. This exchange all transpired after asking details about a "guarantee" they offered. In short it was in fact never a guarantee, just a pressure technique to up charge.
