Do it yourself- you measure, you assemble and install or they make the product and you install or have them do the entire process. The business offered competitive prices. We arranged a date for a tech to come out to measure. A day later, I was sent an invoice for a ten year warranty and agreed to pay half for a deposit. A couple of weeks later, Tyler contacted me to say our sliding door was almost ready. He coordinated a date and time for installation with the tenants, which made it easier for me. and George installed the brand new sliding patio door. We recently moved here and we had heard of sunscreens before but the climate in other places was such that we didn't feel like we needed something to help cool the house. Moving to Queen Creek, we immediately knew that even though we had a new build home with an energy star rating and a HERS score of 58, that there was more that we could do to help keep our SRP bill in check. After some research another contractor told us about Colby Window Solutions. I got online and learned more about sun screens and that you could get both a federal rebate but also that SRP gave a rebate for them as well for Professionally installed shade screens or window films qualify for an $1.00/square foot rebate (west and east sides only). After calling and asking some questions around pricing and times I had Ryan come out and look at the home. Again, this is a new build home and, in our case, it had foam around the windows. Ryan explained three pathways we could take to have them installed. This was important because two of them could potentially void our home warranty for our windows. The third pathway he explained kept us able to add them without risking voiding our warranty. We ultimately chose this. Ryan was very through, was no pressure and explained other ways we could save money if we wanted to DIY. SRP requires it to be professionally installed if we want the rebate and honestly, we are not the most hand people so we had it professionally installed. That said, they look great and I could IMMEDITELY feel the difference as they were installed and I was sitting in my office behind low E windows and blinds. We live here in Anthem at Merrill Ranch on the Sun City side, backyard faces the west and the sun is pretty hot in the afternoon. Ryan just installed our sunscreens and what a difference it has already made. He has a beautiful fabric that he uses for the sunscreen, it has brown and black in the fabric, it's complimentary to the outside structure. He also uses a special adhesive that won't damage your windows or paint. He understands about warranties, so no nail or screw holes were made on the house. I'm so pleased to have used his service. We just moved into a new home in Gilbert. It is a North-South exposure and the East and West sides of the homes have six windows each. Ryan Colby with Colby Window Solutions just installed sunshades for us and the difference was immediately noticeable! Ryan was extremely knowledgeable and very courteous.
