Just about an hour outside of Boise, and right off the freeway, you'll see signs for Cold Springs Winery. My wife and I were getting antsy on our road trip and this was the perfect stop to break things up. We followed the signs and the dirt road up the hill until we came to the small building that houses the tasting area. The staff/owners greeted us warmly and immediately invited us to try a few different things. I opted for a flight of reds and enjoyed them all. My favorite was the Gunfighter, which I bought a bottle of for later. While the wine and the service were all terrific, the highlight of the visit was Buck, the happy dog that let me love on him while I enjoyed my wine. I hear they do pizza on the weekends-it just so happens that we drive back that way on Sunday. I think we might have to make a stop... read more

My Mrs is a member of the wine club. Free wine tasting once a month absolutely worth it. This place is 100% absolutely awesome. The owners are beyond friendly and very knowledgeable of their wines. I love this winery. Every year my sister and niece come for her birthday. Pilar and her staff have become like family. Guests are treated with kindness. They added the wood fire pizza within the last year. All of their wines are created with such passion and each year there is always something new to try. I hope to spend more time in this new year! Situated just about midway between Boise and Twin Falls, just off I-84, is the small community of Hammett. While there isn't much to stop for, I don't even remember seeing a gas station; they do have an outstanding winery, Cold Springs Winery. We were coming back from a trip and had decided we stop at a winery on the way back. The winery is actually down a dirt road a little further up the hill. Plenty of signs point the way so that you won't miss it. But here's a warning, don't use Yelp for directions to the winery. It shows that the winery is in downtown Hammett, while it's really North on the other side of the freeway, a little over 2 miles from downtown. So Yelp strikes again with the wrong location. Our host pouring was Jennifer Reece, one of the owners. We had an enjoyable time sampling the wine and talking to her. Overall I have to say I was impressed by their wines, none of them had the high acid I've encountered with so many other Idaho wines, and when one was on the high side, it was appropriate for that wine. So, all in all, there were no duds in the ten wines we tasted, which frankly surprised me. I highly recommend you stop in and try their wines. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

Besides the fact that their wines are amazing...and the pizza is super fresh. The people make your experience...I walked in with an emergency and the owner took charge and made the emergency better by driving me to where I needed to make things better. I came back a little while later and was treated like royalty. The people who were there made sure all was ok. I finally relaxed and had a flight of wine. Please try them...their wine is amazing. Absolutely wonderful!!! A total hidden gem, Beth and her dad, Bill are running this winery and doing an outstanding job of it. We tasted about 7 different wines and found several that we were enamored with (my husband loved a white table wine L'attraction and I loved a red blend). The atmosphere was bright and comfortable, completely unpretentious and more on the humble side of Sears. The vineyard itself sits atop a desert plateau overlooking the snake river valley with big blue sky as far as the eye can see. They were so welcoming, allowing my 3 year old to hang out while we tasted and visited. Only open on Saturday and Sunday, this place is WORTH THE Drive! Pack a picnic and sit on the patio and share a bottle, buy a case to take home. You won't regret it! read more

Great little winery! We always stop in our way from Boise back to Salt Lake City. Reds and whites are both great choices. The owner and his wife are very friendly. He's a retired lawyer and seems to really enjoy his retirement venture. There is a great place outside the tasting room to sit and enjoy the scenery.
