Not sure why, but the Sunday was absolutely flavorless. Really strange. Staff help was a little subpar. I don't think I'd revisit.

My visit to Cold Stone this past week was a good reminder of why we should be supporting small, locally-owned businesses over chains. Bare with me, I have details. I ordered a cup of ice cream in the "Love It" size. I told the employee what ingredients I wanted (in an effort to avoid any mistake.) To be clear again, I ordered: - cheesecake ice cream - graham cracker pie crust - strawberries - cinnamon The "creation" that I made was essentially ONE ingredient different from their Cheesecake Fantasy signature creation, which includes: - cheesecake ice cream - graham cracker pie crust - strawberries - blueberries But because I listed the ingredients off to the employee, instead of specifically stating that I wanted the Cheesecake Fantasy and to substitute an ingredient, I paid $9.40 for a SCOOP [extremely undersized] that should have cost $7.26 (these are after tax prices, not including tip.) I ended up paying over $10 after tip for this measly cup, when I could have purchased almost 2 pints elsewhere for this price. I walked out of the store wondering what just happened, trying to remind myself that it's just a few dollars and it's not worth making a fuss over...but I was so perturbed by the time I got in my car, that I actually turned the car off and walked back inside to question why I was charged so much for something that was almost identical to a signature menu item. The answer I got from the employee: "Well if you order every ingredient individually, it's punched in as a "create your own." To make sure I understood her approach correctly, I repeated back what I heard, and asked, "So if I were to order it stated as the Cheesecake Fantasy and just subbed the ingredient I didn't want, would have it been charged differently?" You already know the answer, so let's proceed... So I expressed how absurd and dishonest this was, that instead of ringing up the closest item on their menu and making the one small alteration (because that would be the ETHICAL thing to do,) they are virtually robbing people...because they can. I am then told that, "It's how we are trained to ring it in, this is just the policy." So I jumped straight to a solution, since nobody was volunteering one, and asked if they could just refund me and charge me for the signature creation. A different employee then says, "We can't do refunds, you'll have to email the owner and they can take care of it." WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. F*CK. This is 2020, right? And it's COVID19, nearly all businesses are struggling right? Apparently not enough for Cold Stone to recognize the cost of allowing (and enforcing) unscrupulous behavior on their employees. Even aside from the fact that I was blatantly overcharged, the portion size is NOT worth what they are charging on their menu. These photos you see on their website of rounded out cups...they're bait and switch. The ice cream I received barely reached the lip of the cup. I've been visiting various Cold Stones around the US since 2004, and have never once felt like I was being taken advantage of or that it wasn't a good value. If this is how the company is now operating on a wider scale, I'm sad to say that I won't be supporting Cold Stone anymore. Frankly, this experience makes me wonder how many other patrons have been overcharged and not blinked twice about it. I'll be writing the owner as well, but I absolutely needed to make this public so that folks who choose to support this business walk in and know how they should order if they don't want to be robbed. read more

Think twice before you order a birthday cake from Cold Stone in Longmont. We ordered a birthday cake online for pickup at 6pm the night before our daughter's party. We arrive at 12pm the next day and there is no cake. According to the Cold Stone staff none of the cakes ordered the prior day where prepared. Even though they knew this they still did not fix it or try contacting us to tell us there was an issue. Instead, the staff ask me to come back in an hour and they will have it prepared and decorated. This extra trip made me late for my own daughter's birthday party, but I couldn't let my daughter have no cake at all. An hour later I travel back to the store only to pickup a cake that looks like it was decorated by my 5yo. At least the staff were profusely apologetic and refunded the cost of the cake. That's the only reason I gave them two stars instead of one. Regardless, this was very disappointing and not the experience I expected. I hope this review is helpful. read more

This is hands down my favorite ice cream place! I love their Oreo crust flavor! I just wish you could get local flavors for delivery.

A friend and I stopped by this Cold Stone this afternoon. As I started my order the young lady working there started to have a "laugh attack" she excused herself and went to the back and I just stood there. Meanwhile the other employee took my friend's order and after preparing it came back to me, to again get my order. The whole time the young lady employee was still laughing in the back. Yay for ice cream, especially on a 95 degree summer day! We stopped in late afternoon and the ice cream really hit the spot. Clean and bright interior. It was busy as you'd expect. The only reason for 4 starts and not 5 is that they were understaffed. We'll be back! read more

My little girl received a gift card for a birthday present, so one weekend when I was short of cash, I took her there, relieved to be able to do something without having to spend any money. I had never been to a Coldstone before, so I was shocked how high the prices were. I thought, "Good thing we have a gift card!" But when the cashier rang up our order, the gift card didn't work for some reason. The cashier, being very sympathetic, called the manager to see what she could do. The manager's answer: tough luck. The cashier was incredulous. She stepped back and said quietly, "Can't I at least give her a discount or something?" The manager said that I could take my daughter's ice cream away from her or cough up the cash. It made me so angry, but there was no way I was going to ruin the whole thing for my daughter, so of course I chose the latter. Ironically enough, the ice cream was very...average. I'd heard that Coldstone has such great ice cream, but we could have done better with a half gallon of Breyer's from the grocery store. And it would have been a lot cheaper! The cashier was very sweet, but the guy who actually took the order and mixed up the ice cream was kind of a jerk. I told him I'd never been there before and wasn't sure how things worked, and he got very impatient. It was difficult to hear him over the counter, and, overall, what should have been a fun experience to order and watch the preparation was ruined by his unpleasant attitude. Bad service, so-so ice cream, and a manager who clearly doesn't care about winning over new customers. Why would I ever go there again? read more

I've had Coldstone at a variety of different locations, and while really, it's hard to mess up something like Ice Cream, this location came somewhat close. It's not like it tasted bad or anything, but part of the coolness of Coldstone is the fact that they mix it all up right there in front of you. Both Catherine and I got served by kids that didn't seem to enjoy working there and they had very shoddy mixing techniques. So there were BIG clumps of cookie dough that I had to gnaw through, and then big tracks of ingredient-free vanilla ice cream. Still, it's ice cream, and so therefore good anyway, but part of the appeal was lost in the mixing. read more

I'm a huge fan of Ice cream...well who isn't really? However this location just does not make a good cone, the staff was not friendly or helpful. The ice cream had freezer burn and topping were not mixed in very well. Longmont is in need of a great ice cream place. read more

The quality of the ice cream and the cones is very poor. The ice cream is too soft- like a rubbery milk shake and the cones are stale and tasteless. They are EXPENSIVE- I would expect better quality. I suspect they are rushing the ice cream making process because of increased demand and as a result the quality of the product is suffering. I wont be going back. read more

Man... This place is ice cream and the Rocky mountain chocolate factory. You can even get caramel apple creations and white chocolate covered dog bones! And they have so many flavors of ice cream. Get the Oreo cream filling and Oreo pie crust mixed with peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, and brownie! So good!! In a Heath bar waffle cone.... Love that they make everything in the store. read more

I see it's been years since anyone has written a review about this store, and surprisingly most of the existing reviews are negative. I've had not-so-great experiences at other Cold Stone locations (eg. Boulder), but I have come to this location on many different occasions and have never had a negative experience. The staff are friendly, and prepare the ice cream the way it should be prepared (they don't skimp on the mix-ins AND mix them in). So I don't know if they have a whole different staff than was present during these previous listed experiences, but in my opinion, this store is great. read more

My wife and I had ice cream here last night. The staff (two young guys) were polite, patient and helpful, and the ice cream was good. When we got home I couldn't find my wallet. My wife rang the store, the staff found my wallet (it had fallen from my pocket where we sat), and I went back to the store to collect it. Thanks guys! Comparing our experience to the reviews before, I guess the message is that good staff make a world of difference in a store like this. To the owner of this place, we hope you respect your staff for the good job they do and pay them fairly. We will be back. read more

This is concerning a birthday cake order that I had ordered on the 11th for the 13th. We totally had a huge snowstorm that was being anticipated for the 13th, so I called to see if I could pick up on the evening on the 12th instead. This is after I called the store several times trying to reach someone. I was assured on the phone that they could not have the cake ready, but that they would be open on the 13th. So on the 13th my husband went out in the blizzard to get the cake and then he got there and the cake decorator said that the cake was not finished yet! So she said it would take ten minutes to do. No big deal so he waited. We get the cake and it looks like the toppings were about to fall off and th writing was very crooked. Sure enough on the way home all the cookie dough pieces fell off the sides and some into the writing on the cake. This was really frustrating, but we just went with it. After placing the cake together again we put it back in the freezer. Now when it came time to eat the cake it really tasted awful. I have had I have cream cakes before and this frosting was not frosting it tasted like cool whip. The cake itself inside was super sweet and had no flavor. All in all it was a terrible experience and my daughter hates whip cream so she ended up hating the cake. There are so many places to get ice cream cakes from and we definitely won't be using them again for any more of our three young kids birthdays. read more
