My husband and I are very happy with the results! Everyone who has seen inside our front door lately -- friends, family, plumbers, UPS deliverymen -- seem to be wowed by Rob's work. Even my dad, who was a high school woodshop teacher for decades and designed many of the wood furniture pieces in my childhood home, was extremely impressed. Rob was very professional and a pleasure to work with, from start to finish. He made detailed design drawings by hand, and worked with my husband and I over several iterations to make sure they were what we wanted. The drawings were so beautiful, we put them on our wall while the bookcases were being built. He gave us several different estimates for different styles and wood types, and laid out the payment schedule at the beginning of the project. Rob did a great job of answering all our questions, giving helpful design suggestions, and addressing strange requests (four different types of corbels!). He matched the whole project very well to the wood grain and stain of an existing piece of furniture. When it came time for installation, Rob and his crew (including son Wes) did a great job of accommodating odd features in our old house on-the-fly, like a very slightly sloping wall and rough stone fireplace. If they made cuts to the wood, they made attempts to do it outside to avoid getting dust in our house. They also vacuumed the wood dust frequently, which I appreciated. Now it feels like we live in a university library. I could just sit and stare at these bookcases for hours. Thanks Rob!

From the first phone call, I felt comfortable. I had a list of things I wanted in the cabin and Shea help me pick the perfect one. She was friendly and helpful. The website has photos of all their listings and one cabin looks better than the other. We chose Cottage in the Woods and it was perfect for our family of 4. The day before we arrived, we got a text with the address and detailed location and a phone number to call in case we got lost. Upon arrival, the photos didn't do it justice. It was a beautiful, spotlessly clean home. There was a notebook on the table with the WiFI code, and pages of things to do in the area and restaurants and menus. Fantastic experience!! Highly recommend! Great customer service and experience. The home was very welcoming, quiet, and very clean. Exactly what we wanted.

The cabin was nice; however, when we arrived there was evidence of the property not being checked before our check in time. When I went to use the hot tub (main purpose in choosing such a location to stay), the water was cold indicating that it had not been functioning for a while as it had an insulating cover on. I called the management office and they sent someone to check on the hot tub. It could not be repaired during my stay I was informed by the repairman. I was not offered any solution by the management company, I just had to go without a hot tub. When I had brought up this issue at check out, I was rushed off the phone saying that it was a $600 bill to the owners as if it was my problem. When I emailed Avenairs about some sort of compensation as I did not get what I paid for. I was informed that if I had told them sooner than I did, they would have moved me to another cabin. They never offered to move me to another cabin and informed me they had no intentions of any sort of compensation. On top of this, they also finished the email with stating the heat was set too low and "could have been expensive." When their checkout paperwork clearly states that check out is promptly at 11am as they property much be checked before next customers arrive. I had left the house hot as I had been using the fireplace all weekend. They also were unaware that the property had a firepit (which the website shows a picture of and they argued with me about it over the phone) and a lockbox nest to the front door. I had called at checkout to see if I needed to leave the key in the lockbox that is right next to the front door and the officer manager tried to go back and forth with me stating there is no lockbox. All of this proves they do not check their property regularly as I feel a management company should. The owner of this cabin should consider a different management company. When I was being polite and treated the property with care, I was treated with petty arguments. It is clear that money is more important than customer service to this company. On a good note, they do have a sweet tone of voice when they answer the phone making you feel as though none of this nonsense could ever take place.

I'm always leery to rent pet-friendly because not everyone has a "four on the floor" policy, however, cleaning beforehand should take care of things. This was not the case with this property. My parents arrived to the cabin on time but we were delayed a day and did not get to the cabin until late Christmas Eve. My parents are too nice and noticed a lot of cleaning issues (glasses put back dirty, fridge cleaned with gross rag, dirty floors, dirty surfaces) but didn't want to complain and also didn't check our bedroom on the second floor (mobility issues). When we got in to go to bed the sheets looked like they had not been changed and had dog hair (or lots of human hair) all over the sheets and pillow cases. The floors were disgusting and definitely not vacuumed as well as the side tables were filthy. I reached directly out to the property to let them know my boyfriend and I would be leaving to a hotel in town but that I wasn't going to uproot my parents and that they would be staying. I never asked for a refund but wanted them to know that whoever is cleaning did a horrendous job (Lorie according to the note) but I received a response from them that we could all go to a hotel and that they were ending our reservation the next morning at 10 am on Christmas morning. My parents are in their 70's and so we had to rush Christmas morning and miss spending it with my brother and his family in order to pack back up to vacate. I have never experienced such horrible customer service and unless you want to be kicked out for reporting something - do not rent from these people. They did credit us back for the night that they kicked us out and I was luckily able to get my parents a room as well (at a premium and more than the cabin). But this cabin was costing us $500 a night...so there was no excuse for a dirty property and bad customer service. Shame on you Mountain Escapes.
