The people running the telescopes are so friendly and informed. They aren't just reciting facts; they are genuinely passionate about what they do. They explained how Jupiter has 70+ moons and showed us four of them. I'll never forget the rotten egg moon the one that smells like sulfur! Price & Timing: It's only $5 per person. You get a 30 minute timeslot, which is plenty of time to rotate through all 8 or 9 telescopes and see the Moon's craters and the planets. Overall: If you're visiting or just live nearby, go check this out! It's cheap, fun, and you learn so much without having to drive far out of the city. The trail is fully paved and runs all the way down, you guessed it, Cherry Creek. Along the way, we saw families of ducks and geese. It was an easy and relaxing walk, flat all the way.

July 28, 2027 - Denver…read more The Cherry Creek Trail was a nice break from exploring downtown Denver's busy streets and shops. We accessed the trail at Larimer and 14th, walked to Confluence Park, and back for about a 3-mile round trip. The trail is wide, paved, and pleasant to walk. We didn't realize at first that one side is designated for pedestrians and the other for bikes and scooters, so we started on the wrong side. We figured it out quickly, although the access point we used could have been marked more clearly. We visited on a hot day, and this stretch of trail had very little shade. Since the trail sits below street level along the river, there wasn't much of a breeze either. Once we were on the pedestrian side, we felt comfortable walking our dog, although one scooter zipped past us much too fast. We also noticed a few homeless about, but we felt safe during our midday walk. Overall, it's a pleasant urban trail and a great way to enjoy the river while taking a break from the downtown crowds.

Confluence Park encompasses the point where Cherry Creek flows into the South Platte River. This is…read morealso the spot where Denver was founded in May 1858. Beginning a city here proved to be a poor choice as the waterways were prone to periodic flooding. The City shifted to the northeast and this area was ignored and filled up with heavy industrial users. A huge flood in 1965 destroyed much of that infrastructure and provided an opportunity for redevelopment. The Greenway Foundation was a prime mover in the 1970s to create a park highlighting this area. A major update in the 1990s focused on floodplain management and further enhanced the park as a hub for the regional trail system. Today this is a highlight of Lower Downtown. Shoemaker Plaza begins at the REI building and extends down to the north edge of the South Platte River. The main park area begins at the south edge of the River and covers both sides of Cherry Creek. The trail system runs through this and continues north, south, and east. This is a beautiful space and exists in its own world, apart from the bustle of Lower Downtown. It is well worth a visit.

There is metered street parking out front of the park and commercial parking lots within walking distance. The park begins at the foot of the bridge and primarily consists of a small plaza area with some tables and chairs set up. This is where you will also find the wings that can be used for a photo opportunity with the bridge in the background. The plaza area is surrounded by some shops and eateries and is attached to a new neighborhood. Additionally there are sidewalks that feed into other nice trails, so you can get an extended run in. The park was rumored to be developed on the site of an abandoned rail yard by East West Partners. This is set up more as a neighborhood plaza than a park. You will find a more traditional park right across the street called Commons Park (which many mistake for Riverfront Park), so, I guess you get the best of both worlds in the area.

For a master-planned neighborhood, Riverfront Park is pretty damn great. There are also multiple bridges which will take you anywhere you wish - LoDo, REI, the Highlands, etc. Whoever planned this definitely put a lot of thought into it as RP is a living, breathing - and, most importantly, functional - bit of urban paradise. Hats off to the developers for making this a space which works for people. Where I come from, "master-planned" just means, "Who cares what the residents want? Make us (developers) the most money humanly possible."

Very open, clean, and spacious park. I love the dead and barren trees in November, we don't get that in California and paired with the cold, it feels weirdly nostalgic of something I've never had and warming on the inside (yes, I'm insane). I also passed by a lot of joggers and dog walkers in the mid morning. Very safe. I passed by 2 small lakes with some water fowl nearby, standard mallard ducks and Canadian geese. Very calming. Saw a couple squirrels too. Not a bad medium sized city park.

Crowd The crowd depends on when you go and if there is an event happening. It was not crowded at all on the day we went because we went during the week. However, I know during certain times of the year they have jazz in the park and it gets super packed. Most of the time, everybody pretty much minds their own business or they are friendly, but if you go for an event, you should plan ahead accordingly. Price: This location is completely free to go to since there is no park entrance fee or anything. Even the jazz in the park events are free and really neat, which makes it a great spot if you are looking for a nice place that is laid-back and free to enjoy. Parking and Transportation: There are plenty of places to park during a normal day, but when we went to jazz in the park during the summer, it did take some time to find a spot. You should make sure to show up early so that you can find parking. If you live a little bit away, you might want to take an Uber, or you can just walk or ride your bike if you live close enough. Overall Experience: My husband and I went right before sundown to do a picnic and painting date that also served as a photo shoot. We had someone set this up for us and we paid for it, so it was very convenient because we just showed up and followed their instructions. It was a great time to go because it wasn't very busy and the lighting was perfect. I think it is a good spot to have a photo shoot or a cute picnic date because it has such a romantic feel to it. We had a really fun time and I highly recommend this place.

This is one of Denver's smallest parks with 80 acres surrounded by the Capitol Hill neighborhood…read moreand the Denver Botanic Gardens on the east side. There is both a paved and gravel path around the outside perimeter and a large grassed open space inside. There are 4 walk-in entrances on the west side and 3 entrances on the east side. No parking inside. A part of the former loop road which closed in 2020 is open to cars on 12th Ave. No car access from 8th or 13th Ave. Plenty of porta-potties including handicap accessible. No other services. I walked around the park from the southwest corner in 35 minutes, about 3500 steps.There is a marble pavilion on the east erected in 1907 with rose gardens on both north & south sides and 3 fountains fscing west when Spring returns. I had difficulty in finding street parking on the west side. During my walk, I saw plenty of spots to park on the east side.
