Not only did he repair the guitar to its former glorious sound, it turns out that he probably sold the guitar to E back in the early 80s when he worked for a now defunct music store. (I live in San Diego but the guitar was being sold in N.O.). When I called Strange Guitarworks, I spoke with Aaron and he couldn't have been nicer. Aaron said when the guitar came into their shop, they would inspect it and give me a call so we could talk about the condition of the guitar and if it had any problems, which is exactly what happened! Aaron called me, gave me a detailed breakdown on the guitar and he didn't charge me a dime for his time. From our phone call, it was clear that Aaron knew a ton about guitars and what to look for when evaluating their condition. It's been a long road from bidding…read moreon a very poorly kept and unplayable violin to getting my violin restored, but I am so happy to have it now. Initially, the two piece back was split. There was excessive wear on the edges of the top, and a chipped corner. The neck was at an odd angle, and there were quite a few cracks. I brought it to Sal who was very kind and reassuring despite the fact that I am fairly neurotic. He was very patient and helpful, and the violin turned out so beautifully. His prices are very reasonable as well. Please see the before and after pictures. I highly recommend a trip to this shop! One day, when I have more time, I will post better after pictures.

Shortly after moving from Atlanta, my daughter fell in love with the idea of going to NOCCA, the…read moreperforming arts high school in new Orleans.  Wanting to audition in the Jazz discipline and having only classical experience, we knew that she had alot of work to do in a short amount of time.  Finding a jazz piano teacher was our first and biggest priority.  We were so fortunate to find Josh and with his ability to break down jazz music, it's scales and technics, etc., she was accepted into the school the following year.  Truly the first piano instructor she looked forward to seeing, she says he speaks to her like a fellow musician and helps her understand music in that same vain... rather than just notes on a piece of paper.  She leaves every lesson energized and excited about the pieces that they are working on.  I'd recommend him without hesitation.  So very thankful to have found him, he is a gem. (Ps, we gladly drive from the northshore for her lessons... we find them that valuable).
