Had two fender necks leveled- one turned out ok , but they really screwed up the expensive Warmoth with stainless frets. Had to replace nut, re level lower frets. Plus, the assistant guy is real rude. Third shop in new Orleans that did crummy work. read more

Once again, I am writing a review for my partner. He had his acoustic guitar "repaired" by another shop in town and they...let's say, overcorrected, and the saddle snapped. After asking around for the best luthier in town, he was steered to Todd. Not only did he repair the guitar to its former glorious sound, it turns out that he probably sold the guitar to E back in the early 80s when he worked for a now defunct music store. I stopped in here on a trip to New Orleans and took a 30 minute Uber ride over to check out what the shop had. I met the owner, Todd. He showed me a few guitars an was very knowledgeable. I wanted a gift for my boyfriend who is a guitar tech and already has everything. Todd helped me find the perfect one. I didn't leave the shop with a guitar that day but a week later I emailed him and he had set it aside knowing he would hear from me. Anyway, a couple weeks later our new 61' Danelecto arrived just as I remember it and we couldn't be happier with the service we received. I accidently knocked my prized Gibson Les Paul off of its stand onto a hard floor and looked down to see the headstock horribly cracked. I was devastated, but having brought other guitars for setup and routine work to Todd's Music Express in the past, I was hoping they could help. I brought it to Todd the next day and he said immediately said don't worry we can fix it. A few weeks later Mike called to say it was ready. And there it is...My 1969 Martin D-28...after months of restoration. The last time I had played this guitar I was 20 years old and it was broken and missing for 43 years...then yesterday I picked it up again...the first thing I noticed was how heavy and thick the body was compared to contemporary guitars...how deep and red the now extinct Brazilian rosewood was and how most all of the shiny surface lacquer finish was gone. Then there were the first two digs I put on it when I was 16. I sat down and strummed a chord and then another and then just started playing intuitively. The instrument was perfectly tuned and the sound resonating from the aged woods was symphonic. No buzzes, no fret noise, none! The intonation, string height and the full overall feel was perfect. I have a new guitar that needed a new nut installed and needed a complete setup done. Mike called me a few times to confirm what I wanted done to the guitar and he had it ready for me in 2 days even though it had a screw that was broken off. I am a little picky about who works on my guitars and I will be back to have Mike at Todd's do any and all work on all my guitars. Great service and good communication from a great music shop.
