6th grade teacher Mr. Meyers has been bullying my daughter and her classmates throughout the school year. He's made certain statements to my daughter saying in front of the classroom, "Nobody is on your side, if you make a complaint everyone will be on my side." Then proceeds to ask the classroom to raise their hand if they will tell on him. My daughter then proceeds to say they are all afraid of him and he will punish them by giving them more work if they do tell on him. My daughter asks to use the restroom and he does not allow her. When she is cold and wants to go to her locker to get her jacket, he tells her, " oh well, I guess you'll be cold then." There have even been several other incidents weekly. This person does not need to teach or be around students. We have had a parent teacher conference meeting with the assistant principal & two other teachers and his attitude toward the kids have been addressed, but no change has been made. I havent been here in years but as far as I could tell you it was a rough and tumbled place because its atmosphere. Now there is a furry mural there. Just dont be mentally disabled though, the students will antagonize you. And it gets 3 stars for being a public school. Because thats the default for 90% of these failure factory. read more

I am in Eighth grade now, this school SUCKS! Bullying is not handled, there is a huge vaping problem that the school doesn't do much about, fights almost every month. If you get Mr. Burns, IMMEDIATELY request to switch out, He gives so much unnecessary work, and if you have a question, he just doesn't answer it. Also, the assemblies are most of the time boring and unnecessary, and the lunch is alright, but kids keep putting random shit in the water fountains. Some teachers are cool though. Most girls caped in the washroom and it was noticeable because you walked in and it either smelled fruity or the some girls(I won't say their names) went in the same stall. Other than that most teachers are supportive and help and give extra credit when you need to get your grades up. Also I think Mr. Farrell and Magorian (P.E. teachers) hate me because they always gave me a mean look but I ignored Farrell because he's looks like a hawk and is a hawk because he sees everyone and everything. This school is ok. I also forgot to mention they give loads of homework so ,they incoming middle schoolers get ready! Other than all the bad cons they have some pros. Like I said some teachers are supportive and others just don't like us and just teach to get paid. For me I didn't feel safe cause I remember there being actual fights girl vs girl or boy vs boy and also one time This kid (he's chill) brought a knife to school and some kids use drugs and I can't forget to mention the time I ALMOST got kidnapped in plain sight! This school goes above and beyond for the 6th grade class. They have a new program where the 6th grade students go to Cougar Camp before school starts and they get to see and hear about how things are done with the aid of 8th grade students. I heard there weren't any crying 6th graders on the first day of school and there usually had been. My son had attended private school; we had to cut cost, and I am pleasantly surprised that this school has high standards, great program and fantastic teachers. read more

I've been disappointed from the beginning! She came from elementary school with an IEP & when we got to Colina was told they felt she did not need it! She clearly Needs at least a 504. She gets overwhelmed & distracted! She tries so hard & gets discouraged. I put her in summer school for algebra & study skills. Also we've had a tutor after school. I was TERRIBLY upset that NO ONE ever told us all 3 yrs that there was smart tutoring twice a week after school no cost. Not even the counsellors. I was very disappointed ! She could've done that all 3 yrs. She's a very smart child but not everyone learns the same way! She's looking forward to High School & I hope she can get the help she needs there! This is a good school but some teachers in particular don't try to help you if you need help. For example mr burns a 7th grade teacher will know your failing if your failing and when you ask for help to get your grade up he does nothing. Plus he's nice to parents but a bully to students. Being a foster parent, we get to experience our fair share of new schools, teachers, counselors, etc. My husband and I had a recent placement who attended this school and I was floored by the lengths that each of the staff members went to support this child in time of need. As a foster parent, I have never been asked to speak with the school principal unless there was a problem. When I first went in to introduce myself and fill out er cards, I was asked to speak with Mr. Frank who assured me that he would do his best to assist us with the transition. From Mr. Frank, to Ms. Chopp, to Ms. Carlson, to the nice blonde lady in the front office they have been amazing! Thank you for your support! You have been a blessing! read more

My daughter loves this school and has done amazing things since she started. We would recommend this school to all of our friends. The staff is amazing and Mr. Frank is pretty much involved in everything that happens. I do agree that the amount of homework is overwhelming at times but it is certainly preparing my daughter for 8th grade next year and high school. I love the fact that I can go online at any time and see how she is doing and contact her teachers if I needed to. All of the fun activities they have are so much fun and are well run. read more

Horrible bullying at this school!! Over the Summer, I was told two stories by two different sets of parents about the bullying problem that the school has by the girls. Both sets of parents told me that they confronted the principal and the principal shrugged it off as if it was nothing. The parents immediately withdrew their daughters from the school because of the principles ignorance as to the seriousness of bullying and suicide. Two days ago I spoke with another parent whose daughter was being bullied by the girls at that school. Again they approached the principal and the principal shrugged it off as if it were nothing at all. The student was removed and now goes to a better school with an excellent principal who will not tolerate bullying. This School needs to be evaluated for bullying and the lack of care or efficiency of its teachers and principals to react to this serious situation. I recently started Colina Middle School as a 6th grader. I know it has only been 7 days of school but I have to say it is a very good school. You will most likely NOT have any homework on the weekends. One week after school is the first social or party if you are in 7th or 8th grade. My social was yesterday. The same week as the social you will start a fundraiser withe some pretty cool prizes. Every time you sell a certain number you will get a rubber duck. The money raised helps pay for cool programs that the school doesn't get money for. I really like all my teachers and my classes. I was nervous to start middle school but the school works really hard to make 6th graders feel comfortable right away. The point is I totally recommend it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
