We came to the Alliant Energy Center for our first visit for the Madison On Tap Beer Festival. It was an amazing good time for our group of friends. We drove from different areas and met in the downtown Madison area. In our opinion we had a blast and thought that it was setup nicely. Lots of space and tons of people. We never realized just how big of a place it really is. I can only imagine how cool concerts, sporting events, different expos and so on can be being held here. We plan on watching for future events being held here so we can return again. Otherwise next year we will be doing the beer festival all over again. Awesome venue!

Great acoustics and overall space for a concert. I would have appreciated free soda as the designated driver for a concert like the one I attended (I love the 90's!), but I guess that's a little picky.

The space is two cars, with one set up as a full-time bar, and the other a mixed space that was a dance club on the night we visited. The bar car was super cute and quaint, but also tight and cramped, especially with a crowd. The car is set up with a single person bar towards the back, and lounge seating along one side leaving small space for folks to walk and wait for the bar. The other car had the bar up front and the dance floor and seating in the back. This car had a cover, so we just did cocktails and lounged a bit in the bar car. The single bartender, while he was friendly and made a good cocktail, created a backlog of folks waiting for drinks. We waited 10 minutes in a single file line for our cocktails. I went with the espresso martini, and my pal got an old fashioned. Both tasty, but the glassware was wayyyyy too small. The line never cleared, so we did one and done unfortunately. The concept is great, but execution is lacking. I know there is limited space, but the current layout and function is not the greatest, especially on the cocktail car side of things. Overall, it was cool to experience and now we can say we have done it.

The indoor barn space is super cute, and the outdoor ceremony area is stunning. They even set up a beautiful rustic wall that held prosecco for the cocktail hour, which was such a fun touch (and the wine was fantastic!). One of the biggest standouts was the staff. They were incredibly friendly and accommodating across the board. Even though the catering was brought in separately, the venue staff went above and beyond to figure out a plan for me to go up to the buffet early to avoid any cross-contamination. The layout of the property is seamless: there's a great space for the wedding party to stay and get ready, indoor bathrooms that were spotless, plenty of room for a digital photo booth, a great dance floor, and fun outdoor games. Plus, they are animal-friendly, so having pets as part of the wedding was incredibly special. The bride decorated with a lemon theme, which fit the rustic-chic vibe perfectly, and the in-house DJ kept the music fun all night. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

The tour is reasonably priced, although I did end up paying $6 for parking at Monoma Terrace. Check-in for the tour is in the gift shop which is nicely set up with a nice selection of Frank Lloyd Wright items, Madison items and some other items. I ended up as the only one on my tour so I got a very nice one on one experience. My tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and personable. I did get a nice tour through the various parts of the Community and Convention Center; they were setting up for a number of college graduations. The center has a wide variety of rooms and areas, including a great plaza and garden on the roof. The center takes advantage of its lake front location and in true Wright fashion it brings the outside into the building in interesting and effective ways. Monona Terrace went through a number of designs and intended purposes during Frank Lloyd Wright's lifetime, unfortunately it was not built until well after his death so while the outside follows closely to Wright's designs the interior was revised by members of the Taliesin Fellowship, the result is a very nice building and one that seems to work very well, but it seems to be missing a bit of the Frank Lloyd Wright magic and wow factor. There are a couple of places where there is a bit of that sparkle, but as a Frank Lloyd Wright tour it falls a bit short for me. If you are a Frank Lloyd Wright completist or have some extra time Monona Terrace is worth a visit, but if you are planning a trip for the Frank Llyod Wright Wisconsin trail and need to prioritize other site might be worth considering.

So my 3 stars for this hotel is nothing bad. The hotel seems fairly new. The rooms are done in the current decor for this chain. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. Even during the COVID era the pool and fitness room are open. The hotel is right off the freeway with many restaurants to choose from within a short drive. Pizzeria Uno is right across the street. Ok, so I have to say one bad thing to make this review legit. Once in awhile you may hear a truck on the freeway. It's not like a constant roar of traffic but more of a deceleration for the ramp. That's the only negative I had. Therefore, the next time I am in Madison I will probably be staying here again.

They truly offer a 5 star level of service. On the first day of my 5 day visit I had an accident and broke my ankle. The front desk staff received and fulled assembled (competently, I might add) the knee scooter my family had delivered to the hotel and brought it up to me. And expressed multiple times how happy they were to be able to help. They also thoughfully provided me with extra towels, extra pillows for elevating my ankle, and a shower stool. They also called my when my delivery from Walmart arrived and delived that to my door as well. They shuttled me (and my scooter) back and forth to Epic the rest of the week, and the shuttle drivers are outstanding. Each of them kind, funny and great to talk to, as well as fantastic at making sure I felt safe entering and exiting the vechicle in my hobbled state. I would like to give a special shout out to Sean, who saw me rearranging my car in preparation to travel in the parking lot and immediately approached me to make sure I was getting the assistance I needed. He packed all of my stuff on the lugged cart for me, brought it down to the parking lot and packed my car up for me as well, checking with me for the location I wanted each item. I have stayed a lot of places in my time, and I have never seen a hotel staff shine so brightly. And they were also kind and friendly with each other, I was able to watch them working a few times while I waited (briefly- they are also fast) and their coordination and teamwork was obvious. I am so glad I got a chance to speak the manager about her wonderful team. Additionally, my room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the amenities were very nice. Another thing, I was on the 2nd floor of a packed house and it was QUIET. Though I was tired after my crazy week, I almost didn't want to go home due to the hotel staff making things as easy for me as possible. THANK YOU, Holiday Inn and Suites Madison Central.
