Lack of selection. Many firearms looked old and worn. FFL transfer fee is outrageously overpriced. Look elsewhere.

I've been a shooter since I was 16, a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth and gas was .75 cents a gallon. Since starting my LE career back in 1985, ...I've been visiting a range of one sort or another every week and shooting every type of pistol and rifle, from muskets to fully-auto carbines from NY to Florida. Needless to say, I've done a lot of shooting over the years. Since my retirement, it's been hard to continue shooting because of the many, many restrictive ranges in NYS with oppressive, unnecessary and unfriendly regulations/rules on the different aspects of firearm usage on/at the range. I'm NOT talking about the safety stuff! I also happen to be a certified NRA tactical rifle instructor and a certified NRA range safety officer, so my beef is usually with some of the more ridiculous type of rules like one shot at a time from a semi-auto pistol. Magazine restrictions regardless of legally being allowed to use, own and operate high cap mags, the NO use of 'Bad-guy' targets... etc. Since retiring in '09 I've had my 'balls broken' by some 'range soup Nazis' even when shooting with my two active duty LE sons, one of which was in a Tactical Federal Unit at the time. So to be screamed at by some guy because you fired more than five shots from a 15 round mag ...at an empty range, or having the audacity to use a 'hostage target' to hone your reaction and control skills with a hand gun, ...that my friends is quite demeaning and very unpleasant. So I can't tell you how happy I was in taking the advice of a Port Authority firearms instructor buddy of mine when he directed me to Master Class. Master Class is just that ..."Master Class!". I found the people/owner to be an extremely friendly, knowledgable and very helpful men. The range was ABSOLUTELY safe, while still being enjoyable. My old platoon commander and I have made it a point to visit Master Class at least twice a month now before heading out for lunch. Nothing is more enjoyable for two X-LE officers than shooting some targets, enjoying a safe, friendly, and professional environment before heading out to some vittles. I HIGHLY recommend Master Class Shooters indoor range.

One minute you're young, single, enjoying life…read more The very next... you're old. With twins (?!) and each year you're trying to find something new and unique for them to experience for their birthday(s). This year I surprised them with... rootin' tootin' (trap/skeet) shootin'. (About a mile before reaching our destination I slipped up and ruined the surprise - which they won't let me live down now!) After driving through scenic and beautiful parts of Jersey (autumn, the colors all around were absolutely stunning) we arrived. It's a mountain. And when you hear those guns going off - it's jarring (for city folk, like ourselves). Yeah - "Thunder Mountain" - is more than a fitting name for this biz. Seven of us (only six are shooting), three generations, and with our most incredible guide/instructor - we were blasting away in no time. We had a clay-zy good time. (Hey, that's the best "dad pun" I could whip up, gimme a break!) Youngest twin was the marksman of the day - 19 of 25. My father-in-law was the least successful - 2 of 25. (The Mrs. and the older twin all did much better than me as well... which definitely dinged my ego, for sure.) It's cash-only. The couple behind the counter at the 'lodge' were very friendly, engaging and no-nonsense. Our guide/instructor really helped to make our afternoon even better/smoother. He was constantly giving us pointers and encouragement and he deserves a raise for putting up with my father-in-law's insistence on refusing to ever yell "pull" (I'm still not sure if it was an honest mistake or him just looking to bust chops) but pretty much any other word that started with a "P". You're given a gun, earplugs and ammo (25 shots in total), rotating after 5 shots/attempts. This was a perfect amount to keep it fresh and interesting and fun. Teens are never impressed, especially if it involves their parents. But the entire ride to Kinchley's (you'll work up an appetite, lemme tell ya) and then home... they could NOT stop talking about how much fun they'd just had and can't wait to come back. (That definitely helped that fragile ego of mine!) PS: the following day I was sore and a bit bruised on my shoulder where the butt of the shotgun rested.

I took my license test from them. The class was great, but the instructor was rude to me. I had my pistols in a bag next to my chair, secured and unloaded and he demanded that I remove them and put them in my car. Said I was endangering the class, despite the fact that he was carrying a loaded pistol on his hip. I got my license, however, I really don't want to go there for any type of shooting or classes again unless they change their attitude!

His knowledge and engaging teaching style made the whole experience informative and enjoyable. There was plenty of parking. I highly recommend it! However, the business would benefit from hiring a professional cleaning crew to clean the bathroom, sitting area, and shooting range. It seems like they are relying on regular workers to handle this task, and it's clear that some workers are doing more than others. Other than that, I give it a very high recommendation!
