Lessons I learned, that you may want to heed... if you have access, get in and paint the closets ahead of time. He will do touch ups, and paint over small areas previously occupied by screws, closet bar supports etc, but that doesn't include full painting. In my case the Master closets hadn't been painted since before I moved in 18 years ago - they suddenly looked dingy contrasting with the new materials. It's none fun painting after the fact! Same thing with any flooring updates. Fortunately, I was able to tear up the carpet the evening before he did the last 2 closets. Give yourself the gift of a fully finished, high end closet. These young ladies came in, assessed and got busy. We hired them to clear and organize our garage that we used as a storage for years. Stuff we had not touched in 15 years. Some new, but most old. One of the best things I think that this crew possesses is the ability to relate to the homeowner in such a way that the homeowner is not feeling trampled upon, BUT at the same time respectfully probing and prodding to move the process of purging along. Nobody wants to get rid of things they find value in, but if you haven't touched the stuff in several years, what are you really doing? Kristin took away all the Amazon boxes that had been piling up. She set up systems so that I could do things efficiently and logically--a place to put incoming mail, a place to put groceries, everything for making tea and coffee put together in the same location, etc. I have a lot of hobbies, and little bits and pieces of them were scattered all over the house. Kristin managed to gather, sort and organize all of them. Amazing. I was a little hesitant to hire an organizer because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find my things if somebody moved them. That ended up not being an issue at all, just the opposite. Now, if I want to find something and I don't know where it is, all I have to do is say, "Well, where is the logical place for it?" And there it is. Much better than my old method of trying to remember, searching the house, and then going out and buying a duplicate because I couldn't find what I needed. The best thing is now that my place is organized, I feel much more motivated and capable of keeping it this way on my own. I feel more serene now, and, my life is just, well, better. LOL.
