Honest opinion from someone that moved to Kent and lived there for 7 months. First day I moved in I woke up to a cockroach crawling on me. That was the start of a very long 7 months. I invested hundreds of my own dollars on fixing that problem alone. Bought door sweeps, filled in every open hole in the floors, walls, cabinets, etc (there were dozens) and laid traps in every corner of the apartment. I also sprayed cockroach spray bi-weekly. This problem was a constant the entire time I was there and there was very minimal attempts to fix it from the front office. I stopped having food in my kitchen due to the amount of times I found cockroaches in there, which still didn't fix the problem. The overall state of the building is as you'd expect of an old building. Old, smelly, run down in some parts more than others. The people were rarely ever a problem they all seem nice enough but everyone I talked to had the same issues with their rooms as I did. The disposals rarely worked, the sinks would fluid, didn't have hot water for certain times. I would not move in here again if I could go back and do it all over again. I tried to save myself the problems of signing a lease with people I never met so I ended up spending thousands of dollars on a roach motel. read more

DO. NOT. MOVE. HERE. If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. This place is disgusting there were bugs and rodents all over no matter how much we cleaned. Also management is horrible they do not help with any facility problems or anything in the apartments. They also take advantage of their tenants with the electric bills, billing for inaccurate amounts and charging for the electric of your neighbors. If you are reading this under no circumstances should you consider college towers for a place of residence. The staff are rude and ineffective and if you were to put in a maintenance request you were lucky to get it completed with an even three months. The building is falling apart and they don't even try to hide it in building be within the lobby the ceiling is falling down and instead of cleaning it up they've just put caution tape around it. On certain floors or different infestations of bug, cockroaches and other pest. This building has been a hotspot for criminal activity such as manufacturing of illicit drugs such as methamphetamines. Upon alerting the office when discovering a methamphetamine lab within my floor they shrugged it off and took no action to protect those tenants on the floor. They market towards college students since Kent is a college town but majority of the residents are made up of a previous criminals and low income individuals. And upon moving in my unit they stated that it was completely cleaned and ready for a tenant to take up residence but within the cabinets I found multiple used utensils such as a knife within the kitchen covered in blood. read more

Sadly this was the only option for me when I applied and got into school last summer and I regret ever stepping foot in there, let alone living there for almost a year. I have never felt more unsafe somewhere than I have at College Towers especially since I am AFAB/female presenting and living by myself. The only positive thing is that my personal apartment was spacious and Monet/Amber was a lovely person who truly cared about my well being and felt very sorry that I went through so much horrible stuff in this place. I am one of the cleanest people in the world and yet my apartment got infested with cockroaches twice and it is sickening cause I know it is coming from the people who live in a gross manner surrounding my apartment and honestly the whole building I am sure of it. I have been attacked by dogs, hit on by creepy men/sl*t shamed for my outfits, was disrespected constantly, people would always slam doors in my face or not hold them when I had my hands full, the "new" elevators usually take up to 20 minutes to get to my floor because rude people who live there hold them when they are not supposed to and I am literally disabled where I can barely walk and I am only in my 20s. I was also called slurs and screamed at for a good few minutes by a guy in my hallway and I was afraid and stunned quite frankly. Everyone parked like jerks either in two spots or people who are not disabled would park in handicap spots causing me to hurt myself by parking super far away. Not to mention every single one of my neighbors are sketchy and have made me deeply uncomfortable, especially the one directly next to me who follows me in the hallways and says/does concerning things but when I report it the office staff says "he's harmless". He even tried to break into my apartment once which is insane, but again College Towers thinks it is no big deal. I also had to deal with some folks in my hallway that got evicted earlier this year who were awful and were doing illegal things. It is constantly noisy and people are screaming and the walls are paper thin. I get having noise in an apartment building but this is excessive. I am moving out in August thankfully, but I sadly lived in the B building which is constantly and very obviously way more disgusting than the A one by a long shot. There were times where it smelled like death and where dog poop was smeared in the lobby because nobody picks up after their animals. My partner who is a 6 foot tall man was fearful when he first came to my apartment. I hate that any of my friends or loved ones were ever here because the whole place is in shambles and should have been condemned or rebuilt years ago. It is atrocious, the nasty garbage that usually stays in the lobby for months and the damn shopping carts are ridiculous (there are literally sometimes 3 at a time and they are always in my hallway blocking my way to my apartment which is also a huge safety hazard). College Towers definitely has a lot of health code and safety violations. It is rather obvious. Here are just a few of the nasty things my friends or I discovered outside of the building: used condoms, what looked like bottles of pee, a creepy cat cage, random garbage that smelled disgusting, doll heads, and other strange and unsettling things I would see on the daily. Most people were so rude and did not have a single bit of common sense or decency and I was quite upset when an older woman slammed the door in my face and when trying to catch the door made me drop a very expensive piece of my sewing equipment and it broke. I am a poor college student and this place was ungodly expensive for absolutely no reason. My apartment was not even ready like they said it would be and most of my stuff was and still is broken from the last person who lived there. This review barely scratches the surface for how awful my experience was and I wish I could be compensated for all the pain, anxiety, and fear I got from living in this hell. Or at least get some of my rent back from the year. They also had random fire alarm tests where they only ever sent me an e-mail about it once so with my autism I was startled by the unexpected noise and thought there was an actual fire. There were also so many emergency water shut offs probably around 10 over the course of 2 months which is wild and of course it only affected the B building residents. So many residents screw around with the plumbing and the water pressure is horrid and based on my sink situation I would never drink from the sink I use water bottles. One of my neighbors was literally opening a wall in the hallway to mess with and tamper with the plumbing. I cannot wait to be out of here. There was a good 2 months in the winter where I had no heat and was freezing yet maintenance did nothing each time they came up and it was not deemed an emergency by the 24 number interesting. Please pay more to live somewhere safe and does not look like a shady place straight from a horror movie. read more

Not handicap accessible in building B. Handicap parking has only three spaces for the whole building and it's far away from the front entrance. You have to enter through a side door which you have to open three doors just to get to the elevator and also have to walk down a long hallway. Elevator will shake and will not go to your floor and will repeatedly skip your floor over and over again. Also the down button or a up button on many floors are broken. There are two elevators but only one "works". There are only stairs to get to the trash and only stairs to get in the front entrance. If you want anything fixed in your apartment you will have to go on hiatus on your rent until they fix it or else they won't. I have expressed my concerns and others have two about just a few of these issues and they are ignored. Fire alarms will go off all the time. Me being handicapped I can't walk down the stairs for a real or fake alarm. I don't recommend this place at all. -2000 out of 10 on this place. Iam moving out as soon as my lease is over. This was not a great experience for my first apartment. read more

They have 24/7 towing, when their offices close on Saturday at like 2 pm so if you get towed you have to wait til Monday! They are strict for an apartment building that's filled with junkies and infestations. The office administration is no help at all! read more

The examples below are reliable and I would agree and say do not move here if you can afford something else. Just because it is cheap though does not mean that it should be an excuse for poor living conditions. Bug infestations and poor air quality as well as poor control of the public areas and zero security on any door other than a bad quality camera that might not be even functional. read more

Slum lords... as a resident here, I'm experiencing my kitchen AND bathroom ceilings leak/stain brown and begin to warp. Not to mention I've called maintenance TWICE about the matter as well. The first occasion was late at night when i got home from work and first saw it leaking. I called the emergency maintenance line and they showed up hours later. The man walked in, saw the issue, and said he would "be back".. He never came back...so I called and set up an appointment explaining I had work at 1 so they were to come at 9. Well maintenance never showed up again. Therefore I called around 1 to express my displeasure and was met with criticism and was told that maintenance was "on its way as we speak". Same guy walks in as the last time! I explain maintenance came prior(as to not call him out) only to leave and he acts as if it wasn't him in my apartment a week prior!!! Then he says he will "check it out" and never showed back up... again!!!! Long story short, it's been almost a month and nothing has been done. Since living here I've experienced cockroaches in my bathroom. Disgusting sh*t and piss coming up in my KITCHEN sink(to which a drunk emergency maintenance man came to fix, NOT TO REPLACE OR CLEAN, at 3am. My car being towed(as a resident! Not to mention my muffler fell off as a result.) This place is a joke..find another spot! Anywhere but here!!! read more

I started at Kent State University not too long ago and chose College Towers since it seriously is the CLOSEST place to campus. Yeah other places are on the busline but from College Towers, you are able to walk to class with ease. The people who work in the leasing office are incredibly nice so long as you don't act out and are rude. They have amazing cookies that they bake everyday as well. Heather, the property manager, is knowledgeable and accommodating to your needs as best as she can. She is strong about follow-ups and is understanding with issues that come up regarding your rent being late or the apartment itself. My paperwork process was incredibly fast too. I was able to come in for a tour and was able to fill out a paper application then and there. There was no hassle over the computer. There are amenities that come with the apartment like the gym, pool, and computer lab. The gym is a bit outdated and the equipment sometimes doesn't work but being a student at Kent State I just went to the rec so it was not a big deal. Same with the pool. The computer lab is cool but you can get internet for cheap and just stay in the comfort of your own place. So the apartment itself if alright. It is definitely a bit older since the building was built so long ago but if you keep your things clean you won't have any issues. Also, it's better to not hang out with people with bug issues or people that take in furniture from the curb. You can get cheap and clean stuff from places like Gabe's and Goodwill. No need to be SO cheap as to take a couch with bugs. You'll regret it. The kitchen appliances aren't bad. The fridge is a good size for college students that want quick foods but not so large for bulk items from places like Sam's Club. The bathrooms can sometimes have issues depending on where your apartment is in the building. However, the maintenance men are quick and really nice, especially Tim and Dan. And lastly, Bob and Rob are such friendly faces to see in the hallways. They were able to fix my clogged garbage disposal that I broke one drunken night. And I didn't even get charged. read more

They get 1 star for free cookies in the office when it's open. That's it. The staff In that office are RUDE as hell and generally just awful. That Applies to the physical facility as well. The elevators and hallways are consistently filthy and smell horrible, and this is often accompanied by disgusting stains. The elevators don't work half the time and consistently have pieces falling apart. Half of the things in the apartments are broken or in poor shape. The place looks like it was built in 1970 and never upgraded at all. The toilet in my apartment isn't even anchored to the floor. Maintenance tries their best and they are nicer than the office people but are still useless. The pool is usually closed and most of the exercise equipment hardly works either. Oh, and if you don't have a parking sticker, say goodbye to your car! Aside from the cookies the only good thing about this place is how close it is to Kent State. I've been here one year, am stuck for a second and would not recommend it to anyone. read more
