At least let them come out and look at what your needs are. No loss there, right? Brent knows what he's talking about and his biggest concern seems to be quality work and to meet your needs while providing a great customer experience. The handling unit in my attic had rusted condensation coils. Another company came out and told me the unit was "oversized" for my house and the plenum was undersized and this caused my coils to have too much pressure and broke one of the lines and freon was leaking out contributing to condensation causing rusting. A 14K solution was recommended to me. I wanted a second opinion and took a chance on Stryker. Brent thoroughly looked at EVERYTHING and determined that the problem was actually from the original install 10 years ago when the home was built. The drain from the condensation on the handling unit wasn't piped in quite the right way (original install problem). This wouldn't have really been a problem because there's a back-up to allow condensation to drain off the unit. However, I wasn't performing regular cleaning maintenance and that drain pipe clogged causing my coil to rust. Since I was happy with the air quality and the cooling of the house, Brent recommended just replacing the rusted coil on the handler and re-piping it and performing annual cleaning. I saved almost 10k. Brent could have underbid the other company and made out like a fat rat, but he didn't take advantage of my HVAC ignorance. When you find a company like this, it seems like a true gem. I wish every business had his standards.

I called Stryker Heating & Cooling and I could kick myself for not doing it sooner!! They sent someone out right away and fixed it in minutes. Not hours or days, it took minutes. It also cost less then $60! When the technician said he was done, I felt a weight had been lifted. I am so grateful! The Stryker team are knowledgeable, kind and had great communication skills. In the past, our experiences with a/c repair consisted of someone coming out and taking a quick look around, then either not fixing the problem or charging a lot of money for what turned out to be a band-aid and a hard sell. He listened! I told my husband next time we need an AC repair-we are calling him, goodbye to the last guy. Dave came out last month and was very sympathetic to our family still going through a hell for 6 months. Over the past year and speaking with 5-6 different HVAC techs everyone recommended a brand new traditional system. John was so well recommended that when I called him last summer he apologized but was too busy to take on any more work. I'm glad I didn't make a decision then and called him again recently. He went out of his way to ensure we got the most cost effective solution possible. They installed a mini split which was around 1/2 of what a new traditional system would have cost us and will save us $$$ on energy bills because it's incredibly efficient.

I would have never known if I tried to fix this myself. I am always hesitant about calling a company to come do work because even the smallest little thing would cost me a few hundred dollars at least. As John was fixing and replacing things, he would also give little informational tidbits and explain what things were and what he was doing along the way. I can't say I didn't learn anything because I did pick up a few things here and there. He was very knowledgeable and definitely knew what he was doing. They found Howie over at R.A.R.E and he seemed to be the only guy in Texas working on July 5th.
