John Delario is probably the only person I'll be calling with any problems related to my HVAC. I called him yesterday morning after reading reviews on yelp and he made it out in the afternoon. I thought my HVAC fan motor was broken but it was really just a problem with the capacitor. I would have never known if I tried to fix this myself. I am always hesitant about calling a company to come do work because even the smallest little thing would cost me a few hundred dollars at least. As John was fixing and replacing things, he would also give little informational tidbits and explain what things were and what he was doing along the way. I can't say I didn't learn anything because I did pick up a few things here and there. He was very knowledgeable and definitely knew what he was doing. In the end, I would highly recommend John for all your HVAC needs. He does everything carefully and professionally at a VERY reasonable price. read more

My Problem: We built a living room addition on a mid century ranch and the while the existing system ran fine it just didn't have enough Oomph! to cool the new square footage. Over the past year and speaking with 5-6 different HVAC techs everyone recommended a brand new traditional system. John was so well recommended that when I called him last summer he apologized but was too busy to take on any more work. I'm glad I didn't make a decision then and called him again recently. He went out of his way to ensure we got the most cost effective solution possible. They installed a mini split which was around 1/2 of what a new traditional system would have cost us and will save us $$$ on energy bills because it's incredibly efficient. read more

I came home last night to a warm house despite the fact that the inside AC unit was running. The problem was the outside unit wasn't. I called Fox Service first thing in the morning because their information was on my thermostat. They installed the unit before I moved in. Fox told me that they couldn't see me until Tuesday... four days later! Typical of big guys like them. This being Texas in May, I needed someone ASAP. I checked Yelp and saw Eastside Environmental Air's review. I liked what I saw and called them up. I was really stoked when John DeLario said he could come by today despite having a couple of appointments. I talked to John at 8am and he and Casey were at my place by 12pm. Awesome! John and Casey are solid guys. They are honest, fair and knowledgeable. My A/C was running in no time and I was a very happy and cool man! Our AC conked-out on July 4th weekend. I found ESEA's review on Yelp and called. John returned my call the next day (July 4th) from Galveston, where he was on vacation fishing. He set an appointment for the very next day. In the meantime, I went with another company to try to get the issue resolved ASAP. The other company sent a technician out on July 4th. He checked the freon levels and a few other components, shrugged his shoulders, then said the outdoor compressor would 'probably' be the culprit and handed me a price quote of $1700 for replacing it. When John arrived the next day, he tested everything the other guy did and showed me the gauges and readouts while he did it. He explained what the spec should be for each measurement and with confidence told me the condenser did NOT need to be replaced. He had a few tools the other guy didn't, but more importantly, he has 20+ years of experience and an additional background as an electrician. After an adjustment to the plenum in the attic, the AC returned to proper service and our house is again cool. John charged me $75 for a service call, which I was thrilled to pay him as opposed to the $1700 the other company wanted me to haphazardly dump on the problem. Can't recommend him. He seems nice and knowledgeable, but apparently it's common for people with a license to subcontract out the actual work, so John is actually in the dark for how well something was done and even how much was charged. The work was fine, but I had trouble actually getting the subcontractor to do the paperwork for the inspection, which meant that I stayed home a few days expecting the inspector to come, only to find that the paperwork wasn't filed. The whole reason I called him was to resolve an open permit. After I paid the bill, I saw that $300 in materials could be had for about $60. Then I was charged $125 specifically for the permit, which costs $46.80 from the city. I feel like I've been slimed. I understand that markups are required, but not that much, since the billable rate is $100 an hour. read more

John DeLario is what we all look for in getting help with HVAC or anything else. I had been thinking things were not cooling the way they were supposed to - I emailed John and he was at my house the next morning. He was able to fix the problem and I was cool as a cucumber. Unfortunately, the entire unit decided to gasp it's last breath and John was there to make sure I was taken care of. He helped me get the best unit for my house, for my needs and gave me all the information I needed to get my rebate from the city. When I got home, he had all the paperwork laid out on the table - idiot-proof - sign here and mail! He has called to follow up and has made sure everything is working. When I had a small issue later, he was able to find the problem, and fix at no charge even though I know he spent a lot of time making sure it was right. He is super honest, follows up, wants to make sure I am happy and know what he's done. I highly recommend John and Eastside Environmental. I hope I don't have to call him again, but if I do, I know I will be happy with the end result. read more

These guys are AWESOME!!! My AC was failing and I needed it fixed fast as I run my business out of my home. I called based on a friends' recommendation, and they were able to come out the very next morning. Casey tried to fix my old unit a couple of times, but it was old and tired so I decided to bite it and get a whole new system. John got a 15 SEER unit for the price of a 14, and he and his crew ripped out the old and installed the new in a day. They were super professional, cleaned up beautifully after themselves, and later I had John come out and install a vent in my music room, which he did quickly and for a very reasonable price. Woke up Christmas Eve morning to find that one of our heaters wasn't coming on. I can't say we were desperate---our bedrooms were still heated, and we have a fireplace if we need it. Still, I saw the positive reviews on Yelp so I gave John a call. He offered to come that afternoon and diagnosed the problem promptly. Fortunately it was a simple fix, so I was out only the cost of a service call---which was a full $10 cheaper than the last guy, too. It feels so good to be secure in the knowledge that I have found my HVAC man and will probably never break up with his company. I got bids from 7 companies for a really difficult HVAC problem that everyone said had a different source and a different solution. The highballer said $8000 needed for a whole new system. John's bid: $350 for a repair. I tell you, it was a trip listening to 7 different dudes talk to me with total confidence and authority about an HVAC problem and have 7 completely different opinions on every facet of it. By the end I trusted no one's expertise! Then John arrived. I was like: you are the one. You live on the Eastside. You look like you were a hippie and a concientious objector in the 70's, and now you read a lot of good books on green building and have a nice family when you are not working. You have a lunchbox. He worked calmly and carefully in the rain, and had really good energy, and fixed the problem for $350. Several guys had told me my whole system was a bottom-of-the-line piece of mechanical junk ready to expire. He told me it had another 5-10 years in it, and was pretty sturdy and strong. I had Casey come out because our a/c was malfunctioning. I was told I needed an entire new unit, with estimates from $3600 to $5600. I got a second opinion and found out I only had dirty coils! Something Eastside never checked! Eastside also replaced my blower unit last year, and the new service person could not understand why they would do that- again mucho $$$$- but my fault for not getting a second opinion. How can one survive in the TX heat without AC...whew! AC is a must out here. We've worked with John for a couple of years now on our AC. Unfortunately, the unit was a lemon (put in new only a few years ago), so we've had to call him out a lot! We briefly tried someone else, but felt John was more knowledgeable about our unit and switched back. Besides, his prices are reasonable, he's easy to work with, and he is nice, trustworthy guy. He's even let my husband work with him on our unit (so he can learn about fixing the unit and make the bill lower at the same time :) ). He also takes the time to explain to me about what is wrong, showing me readings of good parts versus bad parts. Besides, he's not just out simply to get your money (you have to watch those repair guys...especially as a girl), but is out to help you get what you need in this heat...ac. I asked John to come install a mini-split ductless A/C unit in my garage overhaul. He showed up on time, cleaned up after himself (a big thing for me), and installed to perfection. He even thought of an inventive way to avoid having to do a bunch of demolition and external conduit running that helped things look tidy after the installation. I was so freaked out when I had a huge leak in the stock room of my small business. I chose EEA off the great Yelp reviews and I'm so glad I did. I called the owner that morning and he sent one of his guys over in a few hours. Casey the service technician knew the problem well and got right to work. He knew I was on a time and budget crunch and he told me about things I could do to maintain my HVAC so I didn't get leaks and that kept it running smoothly. If i could give a higher rating i would. I called John yesterday because my tiny 800sq foot home was 80 with the a/c running non stop. John was able to come over that same day and had a repair plan in place. John was very informative and explained exactly what and why he was repairing. He was very straight forward and honest about his work. I never felt like I was being taken for a ride. If only everyone had as much integrity as John it would be a better world. John installed a 4-zone mini-split system in my house in April of this year. The first time one has been sold or installed in the entire region. He and his crew were great. When one of the units stopped working John diligently pursued solution after solution, working with the manufacturer, even flying out to their production facilities to try and diagnose the problem. I had to leave my key under the mat and my dogs in his care probably....a dozen times as he worked on finding a solution. This is a man who stands by his work and by his customer until everything is as it should be. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I hate to give a poor review, but after such a nice initial visit I wasn't able to reconnect to get the work done. John said he was really busy but could find time three weeks out if I really wanted him to do the work. He also offered to call a guy he subcontracts work out to if I needed it sooner. I was happy to wait, but three weeks later when I sent a reminder John calls (a little more terse this time) as says he can't break away "just to pull one duct". He offered to call someone else that I guess does the smaller jobs, but that was about two weeks ago with no contact from anyone. Again I reached out by phone to see if I could get the service provider's contact info to contact them directly... he never called me back. I know small jobs don't pay as much, but they're also supposed to be quick and easy. We just weren't important enough I guess. Now I have to go through the process all over again. read more

My otherwise trusty Trane air conditioner quit working several weeks ago because I'd too long to take care of it. It froze up completely. Suddenly last night (a Friday) it started leaking like the Titanic and I was up for a couple hours running water buckets. An anxious night indeed! John returned my call immediately, then sent his amazing technician, Casey, out to save the day. Casey was truly my White Knight. He is an intelligent, concerned gentleman thoroughly educated in his craft. He went right to the problem, explained it to me in a way I could understand, then skillfully fixed it without further delay. He also asked my permission to do some other things that would prevent problems down the road, which made perfect sense when he explained them to me. The things he did just took a few minutes. (Normally, I am lax in preventive maintenance but he thoroughly converted me!) He worked quickly and cheerfully, and when he was done, my bill was far less than I timagined. Wish I could write a better recommendation. The owner came out and met with me, and he was the first person of many companies that I've used that I actually thought knew what he was talking about and could solve our problems for once and for all. Unfortunately, neither me or my partner was able to reconnect with him. To be fair, I was having phone problems so gave him the benefit of the doubt, but my partner experienced the same problems. We called John at about 11 am this morning (Saturday before Christmas) and left a message: our heater was not working. He returned the call a few minutes later, explained that he's out of town, but said he had already called Casey Bean of Bullseye AC & Heating, who is taking calls for him while he is out of town. He said I'd be getting a call from Casey, and that Casey would be out today. Casey called me at 11:58 am and was in our place diagnosing and repairing the problem within an hour of his call. Our heater is now working, which may not be so important during the afternoon, but tonight when the temperature drops, we'll be VERY happy that John and Casey responded so promptly to fix our heater. I hope our heater and AC will operate perfectly in the future; however, if we should need to have either of them repaired again in the future, we'll definitely call either Eastside Environmental, or Bullseye AC & Heating. read more
