Overall my son who is autistic likes the school and the teachers which is what matters most to me. Most everyone there that I've talked to has a similar experience. All the staff I've met are friendly and willing to help you with whatever problem or question you have. This year they just started implementing the 5 second rule for visitors in the office, 5 seconds meaning after a visitor walks in the office they will be met by someone working there and will be helped a son as possible. I had to call every Tuesday and Wednesday to get an update on whether or not the program was still going on the day of. One day I didn't call and my child was dismissed regularly without notifying me that the read better be better program was canceled that day and my child walked home by himself which he is not supposed to and THANKFULLY he made it home safe. I call today to get specifics on their last day (graduation) asking if my child will be staying after and I meet him there or will he have to come home then we go back for the ceremony and the front office lady was acting clueless and not giving a straight specific answer. As a school A CHILDS SAFETY SHOULD BE PRIORITY. A parent should have communication with a substitute if the ORIGINAL teacher is going to be out because how am I supposed to be notified of ANYTHING. The school offers a genuine Montessori prepared environment with teachers that are dedicated and return year after year. The children not only learn academic skills that place them far above the performance of children at other schools, but they gain so much more from this family style/homelike setting complete with access to nature and animals. Our daughter has strengthened her sense of self-confidence, which has allowed her to develop her own personal strengths and talents. PVM also offers before/aftercare and a variety of programs (music lessons, Spanish, creative writing, art, cooking classes in full kitchen and monthly field trips). Over the past six years she has developed close friendships in a safe bully-free environment and her school has become more than a school...more like an extended family.

They are rising up. I don't hear many good things on the principal & to tell you the truth she might want to change careers. Maybe a district super attendant position with no parent/student or human contact? She is above calling back or emailing a concerned parent. BUT the assistant principal, Ms. Chapman, does make up for the principals lacking. She is prompt & courteous. And I thought for a long time she was the principal as she is so involved. She truly loves her job. Many teachers are younger and thus less experienced but they are bright & excited to teach. Many AZ schools are doing this I hear to to pay less for their faculty. Is it true? Not sure. Anyways, one thing this school does & I LOvE them for it is play the national anthem every morning! Nothing like enjoying my days off & being filled with patriotic pride from my kids school down the street. The population is primarily Hispanic. Though many parents don't speak English they are very involved. All school concerts are always a hit. Family orientated for sure. The front office girls deserve an award. All indoor campus is also nice. Again, those front office rock stars, such as Grace, are the gatekeepers at the front of the school & protect our babies as they monitor who enters the building. The teachers and staff truly care about each student and go above and beyond to help them grow academically and personally. The sense of community is strong, and you can feel the positive energy as soon as you walk onto campus. Our kids are excited to go to school every day, and we've seen so much progress in their confidence, learning, and friendships. Because of this, I would take especially positive reviews with a grain of salt and consider seeking out a wider range of perspectives before forming an opinion.

Leadership/staff often presents themselves in a way that doesn't reflect professionalism or seriousness--wearing oversized clown glasses, tutus and colorful wigs. I've had serious incidents involving my 5th grade daughter where I raised concerns beforehand about potential bullying, safety concerns, and bathroom fights. Despite reaching out ahead of time the school failed to prevent these incidents and failed to notify me promptly. Another incident involving my 2nd grade daughter was similarly mishandled, with the school downplaying the severity and failing to report what truly happened when it happened. The lack of structure and the school's focus on tutus, wigs, pep rallies, spirit week and snowcones overcomes their focus on education, professionalism and safety. I expected a safe, academically driven environment for my daughters, and instead I've been met with disappointment, a lack of accountability and below grade level performance.
