recently purchased a slightly damaged bistro set and, before completing the purchase, asked whether any additional discount could be applied due to the condition of the item. I was told that the set had already been marked down and that no further discount was available. Unfortunately, after doing some research, I discovered that the "discounted" price was based on an inflated retail price rather than the actual market price. In fact, the manufacturer's website and other retailers were offering the same bistro set brand new, without any damage, for essentially the same price I paid for the damaged unit. What is particularly disappointing is that the markdown appears to have been calculated from an artificially high reference price rather than from the true retail price readily available in the marketplace. Had the markdown been based on the actual selling price of a new, undamaged set, the discount would have been significantly greater and more representative of the item's condition. While I understand that retailers have discretion in pricing, I found the presentation of this "discount" to be misleading and inconsistent with what most customers would reasonably expect. A damaged item should provide genuine value compared to a new item, not simply appear discounted because of an inflated starting price. As a customer, I left feeling disappointed and misled. Transparency and fair pricing are important, and this experience fell short of those expectations. I hope management reviews its pricing practices so future customers can make informed purchasing decisions based on accurate and honest representations of value. read more

Bought a metal door plate from Colmar last Sunday... asked if they would cut it down to correct size... they said no bcs it was 5 mins to closing... brought back the same item 5 mins ago and was told they don't cut anything on the weekends... 4 guys standing around talking to each other and none of them would help me out.. they said I could probably snap it myself? Not sure what that meant but they were not impressed when I said I guess I will need to return it... pointed me to the front registers to do so... Well I had always wanted to support our local businesses and there are still a few who could care less.. Isn't the first time I've had this type of experience with Colmar, but probably will be my last... now I will have to spend 1 hr extra time to support Home Depot & Lowe's instead of our only Hardware Store Colmar.. what a real shame.. read more

Please if you go to this place, Watch Out!!! I went inside to shop in their store. I came out and someone hit my car. They have cameras all over the place and they acting as if they can't help. They completely didn't care. They tell me the camera are the for security , yet they can get a license plate from their own parking lot. So that means , if you go there and someone robs you out side and jumps in the car while I'm there parking lot, True value won't help you, they will tell you they couldn't identify the person or the car . You will shop I'm fear while I'm that place. I would go to Home Depot or Lowe's because they would of took care of it. True value only values there self and not the customer. My family has had nothing but stellar service this weekend at Colmar! My very indecisive mother has been looking for an outdoor dining set, and was at the store (dragging a different family member each time) THREE times in roughly 30 hours. I kid you not - she was there for 1.5 + hours on Friday, and back TWICE on Saturday. On all three visits, she was being helped by the WONDERFUL Iyada. She deserves a medal for putting up with the constant visits, questions, deciding and redeciding, and everything else put her through! Throughout all three visits, she was beyond helpful, pleasant, and a gem to work with! She was happy to give suggestions for what would fit in the space, listened to my mom's concerns and very specific likes and dislikes, and kept everyone at peace during what had the potential to be stressful. She never felt agitated, and she was never pushy towards a purchase - it truly felt like she was there to help my mom find exactly what she wanted. We cannot thank her enough! Colmar has a nice selection of outdoor dining furniture to choose from and customize. They also have fake dining sets, complete with fake food, to help visualize the tables and what they would look like in use - I thought this was such a great touch and really helped with visualizing how each size compared. We will definitely recommend Colmar to anyone we know looking for outdoor furniture! read more

I purchased 3 items, but noticed that the elderly cashier had four items on the cash register screen. The additional item, Fantastic spray, was not on the counter or nearby. I asked why the Fantastic was rung up, he said "sorry". I asked where the bottle was and he said it was put away already. The only conclusion I could reach is that it was done on purpose to have me pay for merchandise that I did not receive or want. Beware, watch what is rung up and obtain a receipt to verify. read more

I go here all the time. The people are friendly and they all are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They all wear headsets to make sure they can assist you in finding what you need quickly. They have upgraded the store over the last two years. Even have a UPS shipping section and a home center to assist you with home remodeling. I do not understand the negative reviews. This review is to alert Colmar management that in these times of covid 19, they must be more sensitive to customer needs for distance. My husband, an elderly chemo patient, for the first time in months, finally wanted to venture into the hardware store to pick up some items for a project to keep him busy in these trying times. After successfully finding what he needed, he was ready to get the last item. Approaching the location, a staffer was stocking shelves there. My husband asked the worker to please give him distance so he could get his last item. The staffer REFUSED, claiming he had work to finish. Really, this is how you respond to an elder, fully masked and gloved, taking a risk to patronize a local store that we have been using for over a dozen years? I do not understand the insensitivity of your establishment. When my husband complained to another worker, his response was to not help my husband get what he needed, but brushed him off with the comment "these are tough times." Yes, they are, but you at Colmar are doing little to make your faithful customers comfortable in these tough times. We continue to patronize all the open local businesses, restaurants, food market, drug stores, etc. Never have we been so poorly treated when asking for something so simple as healthy social distance. read more

Friendly, neighborhood hardware store with a pretty good selection and very helpful, attentive staff. Having just moved to the vicinity I needed to come here several times to get little things for the new apartment, I found that someone would always ask me if I needed help finding something almost immediately when I walked in.. They also sell cabinets and sinks and such, and things like barbeque grills and deck chairs, which I noticed were placed right next to the snow shovels.. Prices for some things are a bit higher than out in anonymous strip mall land , but you pay a little more for the convenience of a neighborhood hardware here on the beach.. and they sell lottery tickets to boot.. read more

Rude customer service. Lots of staff, but they stand around talking to each other ignoring the customers. For their high prices, they should have better service. I called them in advance to see if they had an item in stock, and was told that they did. I took a major walk to get there, only to find that the item ( a battery needed for the key gob to unlock my car) was out of stock. They were rude and abrupt. I will drive off island and pay the tolls before I go back there. read more

DON'T HAVE KEYS MADE THERE. I had to go back twice to have the keys adjusted, only to have on second try, to have a key stuck in the door knob and now have to call a locksmith. We will see if Colmar will pay for their mistake. read more

Service is absolutely horrible, Visited Colmar True Value on Saturday 3/26/17 to get advise and purchase the correct material to anchor a sign to a concrete wall. Colmar True Value hires young kids to advise with no customer service experience. I asked several people for help. Finally ended up leaving the store and going to Lowes off the island. I guess it was worth the drive as they were very helpful. I would have given this a review a 1/2 star if system allowed me. read more

Went in the store today to return something for my 86 year old friend. Manger took his time to come to the register and then waited on another customer when he finally arrived. The manager look up the in stock items and stated he could not take them back past 30 days. I asked to speak with someone else in charge which made him obliviously annoyed by march off to the store owner. The owner was with another customer when the store manager called out for him and then yelled out that "This women does not like my answer." In his attempt to publicly embarrass me, I stood strong and stated my case again. The items are still in stock and being sold and in the spirit of great customer service for an elderly customer he should take it back. At this point of the conversation, the customer who the owner was with yelled at me to shut the Fck up, The owner and manager began to smile and laugh. read more
