I enjoyed my farmers latte so much, I had it two days in a row. Also, the Arepa with plantains was out of this world- great! Authentic colombian coffee and food can be found here! I tried their signature breakfast arepas for the first time and loved it. I loved it so much I got two. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Friday morning in my way to a friend's I wanted to stop and get a coffee. I've never been and the staff at the front was incredibly helpful. He suggested the breakfast arepa and an iced latte dulce de leche. Both were incredible. The arepa tasted so fresh and loved the sauce. It added something extra to an already unbelievable sandwich. Colombino is a new coffee shop in Bethel Park, replacing Judy's Java Joint. It is located conveniently in the Ruthfred Plaza on South Park Road. The parking lot can be a bit tricky but there are always spaces! While the ambience was nice, I was underwhelmed by the coffee, especially at the price. I ordered a macademia butter latte, and it was $8.50. It was good, but definitely not worth that price. I would definitely like to go back and try another drink that is slightly cheaper! I've heard good things from others, so maybe it was just my personal taste. read more

I rarely make it to this area of town but my husband and I were in the area for a change. We both wanted coffee and said we would stop if we drove by a coffee shop. The location is convenient and parking is easy. Service was quick and efficient. We both ordered a cappuccino with no syrups or sweeteners with almond milk. It's our go to drink. Easily one of the best I've had around town. The espresso was bold but not over the top. It was perfectly creamy and smooth. This spot is the absolute best place for coffee in Pittsburgh. The Colombia food is authentic and delicious. The coffee is better than any other coffee shop around. I live in DC and look forward to coming home to visit parents just so I can have my Colombino nut lattes. I have never found anything similar in any offer coffee shop. Truly unmatched. read more

We wanted to pop into a roastery rather than just a coffee shop. This place came up and had great reviews. It's a small shop in a strip mall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is super cozy, with some tables and a few couches.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a mocha and a farmers latte. The mocha is very chocolatey. The farmers latte was absolutely delicious! It has honey, cinnamon, and is delicious. We also got the Colombian arepa, which was incredible. It had chorizo, beans, and green plantains. Unfriendly service from the cashier/barista. She treated me as if I was an inconvenience and scowled the entire time. Set down my drink and walked away without even a thank you. Rebuttal: There was not a customer in front of me or behind me. So just a lack of good customer service and a poor attitude from your staff. read more

Excellent cortado and matcha latte. Matcha came from Kyoto, as it should. And had the plantain and cheese arepa twice. Unfortunately, the second day's came from the exact pile as the previous day's so it was at least a day old. Still, tasted fine and the accompanying guava dipping sauce was a good addition. We're picky about where we get our caffeine. If you're going to limit it to a couple of times a day, it needs to be worth it. This place is very much up to expectations. Recommended! read more

This is the new coffee shop that took over when Judy sold the Java Joint. Before I get on with the review, a few comparisons for those who have visited JJJ and would like to know what to expect from Colombino. 1) Taste: JJJ vs. Colombino. Both are very, very good. If you liked JJJ, you'll probably like Colombino, too. I would give the edge in straight coffee to Colombino, whereas I liked Judy's foofy coffee drinks a bit better (like the "Caramel Fluff.") But that's because: 2) Strength: JJJ vs Colombino. Winner: Colombino is decidedly stronger coffee. The "Caramel Fluff" was a niche beverage that Judy's coffee strength made perfect. Colombino's stronger brew/espresso changes the way the ingredients interact and it's just not the same beverage. But there are other beverages that I think work in favor of the stronger brew. The Fluff was my fave, though. I guess I'll have to let it go, because I would not dare ask them to weaken the coffee. 3) Food: It's not even a contest. Colombino kick's JJJ's ass. Variety, selection, and taste. More on that in the post-comparison part of the review. 4) Price: It's a bit unfair to give JJJ the nod here, because Colombino is more expensive than JJJ was. But the question is, would Judy have has to raise prices had she held onto the Joint? Probably. Still, some prices seem to have increased excessively. But I didn't say it wasn't worth it. If you like to buy whole bean coffee to make at home, great stuff, but have deep pockets, because it's about $22 for 9 oz. (Update: taking Sebastian's feedback into consideration, it would seem that I happened to buy one of his more expensive offerings - there are less expensive bags of whole bean coffee available at Colombino!) 5) People: Well, it would seem like everyone working at JJJ has moved on. The new people seem nice. Let's call it a draw because I don't know the new people well enough to compare. 6) Owner: Sebastian, the proprietor of Colombino, is always there when I come in. That may be because he took over only a couple months ago, and maybe because he is still training new staff- he does, after all, have another location in the Strip District. He's a spectacularly nice guy. I hardly ever saw Judy, but I did like her a lot. I'll call this one a draw, too. So, what is it that pushes Colombino over the edge? The arepa. The G_d dang arepa. I wish I had never tasted it because now I don't think I can live without it. If I told you the ingredients you might think it's the devil's concoction, but holy shizzle on a stizzle, it's really REALLY good! It's a pita-like pocket stuffed with plantains, egg, and queso fresco. Throw some crispy pork in there for good measure and even your Rabbi will have to approve of the taste! I didn't think I was gonna love it, but dammit, I do. in short, stronger coffee that is just as good that messes up a few of the JJJ classics but improves on others as well as those he brought with him.Better selection of tastier food. Still nice people (so far.) I'll be moving to the south side soon, so I'll probably be going to his other location more often. As long as he keeps making arepas, I'll keep finding my way to Colombino. read more
