We had to get a taxi as there's no easy way to get from Blantyre to Bothwell in the evening, even though we're just over the River Clyde from each other. I hadn't realised as well that this was hotel. It's a very quaint old style building set just off the main road in Bothwell. It was a busy Saturday evening but we had booked so we were taken to our table straight away. We had cocktails to start, a Pornstar Martini for me of course (with a shot of Prosecco on the side), and I found some tasty options on the menu straight away. We ordered and it didn't take long for each course. I had the smoked duck salad with a beetroot and raspberry vinaigrette to start with and then ricotta & beetroot tortellini in a lemon and mascarpone sauce with spinach. My food was pink!!! I loved it! The dishes were so pretty. I didn't get a dessert as I was so full but wished I had taken a photo of my friends. The salted caramel and hazelnut tart looked amazing. She gave me a wee taste and it was as good as it looked. I would definitely go back here and wouldn't mind trying something a little different the next time. If you're out this way I would recommend popping in for a cheeky wee drink and a meal of course.

Everything from Lasagne to paprika chicken salads, just not tuna. The best bit about the place, though, is the service. The staff are well trained and very attentive. They help you with you orders and even beyond the bar. They are very good interacting with children too. The management seem to be very hands-on. All the staff seem to be happy to serve you. I sent it back and waited 20 minutes on another one, which is unacceptable because medium rare cooking does not take anywhere near that long. They did take money off the bill for all the drama, and the only reason they're not getting one star is because we actually had a really good waitress, and she cant be faulted for the issues that were going on in the kitchen. This time I had the chicken goujons with a caramel glaze, which was just delicious, followed up with the fish and chips, and the tastiest apple crumble with custard I've tasted. I love The George because of how wonderfully friendly the atmosphere is. It's located in a relatively busy part of Hamilton, and during the day serves a wonderful pub-grub food menu. The bar is fully stocked with malts, spirits and a selection of a few foreign beers in the fridges. It's also one of the only real ale pubs in Hamilton, and has won best ale pub in Lanarkshire various times! It has 3 alternating taps, which are extremely popular with the regulars. There's a DJ on both Friday and Saturday nights, with the crowd on Friday night being nearly packed out the door every week! There's a quiz night on Tuesdays run by Colin, the owner, and on Sundays the food menu isn't on, but there is a wonderful piping hot pot of free soup for all!
