Worst nursing home in the region. The DON Angela is horrible and so is the staff there.

Absolutely do not let a loved one near this place. Negligence on behalf of the staff will result in falls for the patient and broken bones.

They are required to check her to be sure she is clean and because my sister skipped a day to visit her, she is dirty. They want to keep them in a wheel chair so they won't be bothered. I will continue to post my sister's experiences until this improves. Whomever is rating this place higher than a zero is ignoring their relatives, because my sister goes there every day since my mom has been there and it's appalling. I'm not judging the room, I'm judging the caregivers who are clearly just trying to earn a paycheck.

During her stay at Wittenberg (with an untreated hip fracture) she was gotten out of bed, against the hospital discharging physician's orders...made to sit in a wheelchair for hours on end without being offered sips of water, and not allowed to sit on the commode, although stools were errantly charted. After a couple of weeks of her admission to Wittenberg, she had to be rushed to the hospital in severe abdominal pain (caused by a severely distended colon from constipation...and renal (kidney) failure, brought on by dehydration. In all my years of nursing practice, I have never seen such neglectful treatment of patients too elderly or confused to speak on their own behalf, and I would never utilize nor recommend this facility again.

The email had phone numbers for the front desk, the nurses station, and his social worker. The nurse gave me her cell phone number right away and was texting with me through the first day and evening to be sure everything was set up and to reassure a worried daughter. Everyone I came into contact with at Park Place was kind, helpful and caring. The daily COVID email updates as well as follow up phone calls regarding any cases were very appreciated. All safety protocols were followed and I felt confident that Park Place was doing their best to keep all of the residents safe and healthy. Dad was well taken care of and he was always very happy on the phone and during an outside visit. His therapy went very well and I was informed about his progress weekly. Everyone, including the director, nurse and social worker were very prompt to reply to any email as well as any voicemail. Upon his discharge, I was given detailed discharge information as well as all necessary medications and prescriptions. Park Place also calls the caregiver for a few days after discharge to check on his progress at his new living arrangement. I highly recommend Park Place.

We placed my mom there in 2020 on the memory care unit with a diagnosis of dementia. At one point she was found on the cold floor and according to the ER doctors , she had to have been there for hours for the condition she was in. The facility wasn't even going to send her to hospital until family demanded they do so. She was admitted and spent over a week fighting for her life. She returned to the facility on a different unit because there were no open beds elsewhere. She had physically deteriorated from this incident being unable to stand or transfer anymore. Over the next 2 years she had 4 new injuries that were unexplained, some undocumented by staff only to be discovered by family or Hospice staff. She has finally be relocated to another facility where she will receive the care and dignity she deserves. DO NOT PLACE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. Most of the nurses, especially the department leads sit in the front office most of the time. Our hospice nurses rarely were able to communicate with the head nurses because they were always in this room. I strongly suggest putting a camera in your loved one's room. Once I put a camera in, my eyes became wider everyday. The staff signed off on showers, when it was evident with the camera that my mother was not being showered, which lead to multiple urinary tract infections followed by hospitalizations. I went to visit my mom one day and she was sitting in urine, results 5 week hospitalization and rehab from a horrible uti My mom also missed meals while in assisted living. A friend stopped in one day during dinner time and had to ask for a meal. The kitchen said it was after hours, but would put something together, which wasn't much. Our family was told someone would help her to her meals. My mom was an oxygen patient and 9 of 10 times when visitors came including hospice her oxygen was on empty. The worst was when my mother was dying they refused to honor Hospice orders of administering medicine, resulting in my mother's last few dying days extremely scary and difficult. We had a family friend stop in and my mom's oxygen was on 41. I had called Carla, the head nurse an hour before, asking to administer the morphine and lorazepam (Hospice ordered meds) and she ignored these orders. I also have video of my mom begging for help and the cna's telling her to relax and lay down, while she is suffocating. Rikki, the director of Towne Centre has been informed of all of this and has not returned any emails or calls to discuss further or any inquiries to see my video footage. It tough to see our parents and loved ones suffering, especially when it is tougher than needs be. Moving forward I would only put my loved one in the hands of Towne Centre if you don't want what is best for them. I am so sad that I chose this place to take care of my mother. It was a constant disappointment of how professional human beings take care of the elderly, ill, and disabled.

I had a major spine surgery and was not able to get out of bed for at least two days. When I needed to use the bathroom, I turned on the nurse's alarm and no one came and 30 minutes passed. And I ended up urinating in the bed at three different occasions due to no one coming to help me. I just feel as an adult, and you're urinating in your bed that it is just a disgusting feeling. That should have never happened!!!! I gave them plenty of time to come and help me. At one time it was a forty five minute wait, and still no one came. I ended up urinating in my underwear and in my clothes, and so I had to put those in a bag for someone to help me with my laundry. Well that's another story, after a week of being there, I had a full bag of laundry. Every time I asked one of the aides, is anyone going pick up my laundry and they said, let me check and they never came back. So I had to leave my laundry sit in my room. Finally, I ended up giving it to an aid tossing it out into the hallway to her and asking her to take that to laundry. I had my name and my room number written huge, in black marker on both sides of the white bag.Well, needless to say, my laundry got lost!!! At that point I only had one pair of underwear left because I had limited amounts of clothes there. I had nothing to put on because everything was dirty. I tried my best to find out where my clothes were. And why they weren't coming back and went through many channels of talking to people. And nobody was able to help me or find my laundry when I finally went home after 2 days of being home. I called and talked to the administrator and inquired about my lost laundry bag. She said she would look into it. I did not hear from them. After another day, I called back .And they said, oh, we found your laundry. Well, I was surprised, and I asked them to please send it back to me and they insisted I should come and pick it up.Well, this is an hour away from my home. And I still wasn't driving due to my surgery and I told them I cannot. After practically begging them, two days later they sent someone to drop it off to my doorway. The worst part of the stay that there was... I was an extreme pain. I knew the pain medicine had to be given to me by a nurse, not by an aide. I knew I had a wait till specific time to get my medicine. So when that time came, I pulled the buzzer and the aid came about a half hour later, and I asked her for my medicine, and she said she'll get the nurse well about a half hour after that, the nurse brought me my medicine. So by then, it was an hour later. There were times that so much time passed that I was in tears. So I wobbled down to the end of the hall at nurses station three times during my stay and ask them for my medicine.Because no one came to answer my calls. When I got to the nurse station, they all looked at me like I was nuts. Why am I in the hall. I explained that i've been trying to get someone for over an hour. But when I got to the nurse station, I realized they were all just standing there talking. One person was on the computer. There's something very wrong with that picture!! I do not recommend this place at all! There are so many other things that had happened. I could not wait to get out of there! For any older people that are not understanding the way they are being taken care of and not able to speak up. But to just lay there and hope that they get help, that's bad. I would hope that a family member would be able to step in. Please do not go here.
