Their optometrists are ok, but the rest of the staff is beyond bad. Rude, unprofessional, fumbling around the frames, slow, and incompetent. Apprentice level at best. That explains why you have to sign a waver before they agree to touch your old frames. Combine all this with products that are way overpriced and of substandard quality. One star is too many stars. I like the doctors, the front staff and nurses are great. My only complaint is it takes 2 hours minimum every appointment. It always take a while to get called back- doesn't really matter the time of day. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time when you make appointment. read more

Matthew Rosner, DO Very unprofessional, once we were called back he did not introduce himself at all, did not even acknowledge the patient that was being seen to sit down in the chair to check the eyes and staff examination. Very unprofessional once the patient said no English only Spanish, for the start of the examination he kept pushing the patients face into the head board to see the letters. Trough out the visit he kept making faces as rolling his eyes , sighing a lot saying "ugh". Worse experience I've had at an eye dr honestly and I would not recommend this place to no one, it's not even worth a 1 star! Go to Mann Eye Institute it's worth it!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Davenport since I moved here in 2015, and never had any complaints until now. Three weeks ago I had my annual exam, and I found Dr. D a bit brusque which is so unlike what he has been in the past. I told him needed a prescription for readers since my dog ate mine. At the end he said he put both the readers and the distance on the same piece of paper, whereas always before he had written me two separate prescriptions. When I went to fill the prescription at Lens Crafters, the woman said the prescription is for progressive lenses, not readers. I went home, called Colony Eye Center, told the woman at the desk that I needed a reading prescription, and she said she would email it to me. I received the same prescription I already have, so I called her back and told her what Lens Crafters told me, and that I needed a prescription JUST for reading, like he had given me in the past. She said she would ask him and call me back, which she did, reporting, "Dr. D said any optomotrist should be able to find the reading prescription from this." She said, "For the right eye you just add these two numbers together, and for the left eye you add these two numbers together." I told her the ladies working at Lens Crafters are not optomotrists and require a completed prescription. Could she please ask Dr. D to just write me a completed prescription. She said she hated to ask him again but would do so. I called her back today since I had not heard from her, and she said Dr. D and her manager told her the same thing he told her yesterday. Clearly Dr. D is too lazy to write me a proper prescription, which would have taken ten seconds. Or he wants me to come to their eye center where glasses cost twice as much as Lens Crafters. I told the lady at the desk to please tell Dr. D that I would not be coming back To Colony Eye Center ever again, to which she just said, "I'm sorry." And I hung up. I can find no explanation for such rude behavior but clearly they don't care about their customers. And now I am stuck with not having a proper prescription from which to get new readers unless I go somewhere else and pay for another exam.. read more

Being myopic with astigmatism isn't exactly fun. Since I'm not particularly enthused about LASIK, I make my way around this world with contact lenses and occasionally glasses. Colony Eye Care Center, specifically Dr. Salchak, serves my needs with thorough and detailed eye exams as well as providing my sight-enabling necessities. There are other eye doctors here, as well. However, being a patient of Dr. Salchak I can only speak for his services. The other doctors, from my observation, seem capable and reputable also. The testing and equipment used here is the most current and high quality. Rather than the old standard of dilating your pupils, which is annoying, you can have an Optos Digital Fundus (or image of your retina taken). It's very quick, easy and practical, not to mention cool. Any irregularities will be visible and noted, making eye care/treatments possible at an early stage. Note: not all insurances pay for this procedure, but at a cost of only $29.99 it's well worth it. The technicians are very helpful, friendly and are happy to explain what the tests are for and how they work. Dr. Salchak is pleasant, gladly takes his time with you and makes sure you understand the diagnosis of your eyes and how it compares to your past visit. He will make sure that you see clearly. The glasses center has many top designer and nice looking frames for glasses and sunglasses. The newest innovations are available for glasses including polycarbonate light weight and scratch resistant lenses, which I am thankful for since the thickness and "rings" on the glasses lenses will be reduced. Otherwise, I'd go round with glasses like Professor Farnsworth from Futurama. Other options for lenses are available to suit your specific needs. The techs in this area explain costs to you so you are never hit with a surprise charge you weren't expecting. Orders are ready usually within a week, sometimes less, for glasses and special order contacts. Contact lenses can be ordered in six month or one year supplies. They are usually ready for pick up within a week. I've not experienced any too-long wait times. This place is punctual and efficient and they know what they are doing which is very important in this type of business. Torn I'm a little torn with this review. I've been going here for the last 2-3 years. I love Dr. Davenport. I had my eye exam in Dec 2018. Didn't get my glasses at the time. I returned 04/2019 to select glasses, I gave the lady at the desk my insurance information. She told me I din't have any benefits available. I told her I only had an eye exam, so that shouldn't be the case. I contacted my insurance and to my surprise...Colony Eye Care Center submitted a claim in February. I took a copy of my prescription and left. I'll never return there. They committed fraud and treated me like they had no idea what I was talking about. I love Dr. Davenport, but I can't trust the office staff. read more

Just a quick updated on their Halloween contact lens selection. I was extremely embarrassed and shy to ask the reception people if they sell these contacts because it almost seems like you're asking the dentist which candy they recommend...but please note that it's ILLEGAL to buy lens anywhere else than your eye doctor. I've read up on it and it's to discourage buying really crappy and unsterile products from off-market. They were very nice on phone and in person, you should REALLY order 2 weeks-3 weeks before Halloween because some items are more custom drawn. I saw: zombie, vampire, spinning top, hellraiser etc designs. NO SCLERA, that's more theatrical purposes. I got my traditional vampire lens a week after order. insurance does NOT cover this of course, it's cosmetic and I paid $60 I think for 2 lens. You can come back after you wear them and they will reseal the lens in the vials they come in. I unfortunately did not find the lens super comfortable. It might be because I have some chronic dryness from previous contact use and am used to the very breathable and light daily disposables. These are somewhat thicker but vision was great, I used drops to moisten eye etc. Will re-order for next Halloween! read more

After reading so many positive reviews, I went to this practice and had quite different experience. The waiting room area has neither mint nor water dispenser. The people at front desk were cold and snobbish. They knew my eyes was dilated. But I had to ask them to provide me a pair of easy shade which is quite surprising. Dr Salchak is great and so are the back office staff. Efficient and professional. But the front office staff are rude, unprofessional and always rushing you to pay. When the VSP system was down for a few hours, the staff insisted and forced me that I pay out of pocket while they could have filed it after the system was up in a couple of hours. That was in-spite of me being a long term loyal customer with no outstanding balances what so ever and they also knew that I had an appointment the following day as well. I had to VSP and they assured that it will get reimbursed if they file. read more
