I was already set to receive over $XXX,XXX after paying Cohens And Marzban to represent me in an auto accident. Cohen and Marzban talked me into dropping my original attorneys, BD&J, and sign with them only after BD&J worked hard to get my surgeries completed and kept income coming in to pay our mortgage. Cohen and Marzban claimed my wife was owed because of her loss of consortium and said BD&J never filed that. So they filed a legal malpractice on my wife's behalf. When settlement time came for my accident Cohen and Marzban refused to fight and told my wife and I that if we went to court to fight for my losses even if we won we would lose our house and have to file bankruptcy. I told them that the final payment to me just wasn't enough because I needed at least one more surgery and so Cohen and their mediator apparently came up with an idea to put $150k or more my wife's pocket if my wife signs a form immediately. When we pushed back asking for reasonable time to read over and understand Cohen said he has a fiduciary responsibility to look out for his clients and he would never do anything to jeopardize that. When it came time to disburse settlement Cohen claimed he never promised my wife a settlement from her case. Instead he took the entire lien amount that BD&J had in the case which was what Cohen said he would use to pay her $150k, but she had to sign immediately or the deal would be off the table. PLEASE, anything these two attorneys say to you force them to put it in writing. In fact I stopped taking their calls after Cohen lied claiming he never said he would pay my wife her settlement and instead took it all. Make them write anything they claim. And ALWAYS have another attorney review these attorneys contracts settlements, agreements and disbursements. I had to fight back against their BS disbursement sheet, they went through three of them because they were trying to hide money. I found an additional $2k they tried to take as fees and was able to recover that. We are still owed $14,000 from my disbursement that we showed them and they had no answer for yet still never paid that either. And the state bar is a complete joke. They literally made up reasoning for the attorneys thefts. If I could give a negative stars rating it would be a -5 stars.

She asked for my phone #, I told her the same # on the screen, she then read me my #, but it wasn't my # that she read back to me, it was her office #. She thinks the law firm # is my #. She took down the information, put me on hold, then came back saying the attorney was busy on the line and that he would call me back. I don't know if I would want a call back from them now. I was taken to a trauma hospital and just like you see in all those medical tv shows, e.g., Greys Anatomy, they hospital had dispatched their trauma team excepting the worst from a head on collision. By the grace of God, I was not Killed and did not suffer any true significant injury. I work as an investigator for a major metropolitan City Attorney's office. So, I have access to countless attorneys. To keep a professional work atmosphere, I asked for recommendations of a great personal injury attorney. As the other party was at fault, and the driver had NO driver's license, insurance and the vehicle was not even registered to him. Mind you, your insurance company will cover you in any accident but, they are always looking out for their bottom line and minimize any payout. I am not naming my insurer. They are a major company that is highly reviewed but, like any company, they are always looking at their bottom line. I had to sue my own insurance Co. under the Uninsured driver policy. I was referred to Mike Ehline. I made a call and spoke directly to him regarding my case. Mike assured me he would review the case and advocate for me with my insurance Co. After being off work for a bit, going through MRIs to see any skeletal damage and physical therapy. Like I said, through the grace of God, I made a quick recovery, all were surprised of my outcome. The negotiations Mike had with my insurer were lengthy. Don't expect a quick settlement. As Mike, had not advocated for me, I would probably have been given a small amount of money that would be taken by all the bills I had. As I was charged for everything, the ambulance, trauma room staffing (jokes on them, they didn't get to cut me open) and the after bills. The settlement was to cover, loss of work, my vehicle and of course my pain and suffering. Mike did an amazing job, not only with my vehicle insurer but also with my medical insurer. He got them (medical) to reduce the amount they were willing to accept from the settlement. Like I said, it's not an overnight payout. You must have patience and trust that Mike will advocate for the best outcome that is in your best interest.

06/06/24 So I…read morearrived a couple of minutes early. The attorney was already in his office. He asked me to come in and have a seat. He mentioned that he wanted to clear up any misunderstanding of having to make an appointment just to pick up paperwork. He also mentioned that he wanted to write a edit the review but like I told him, I will check in again and write a separate review. So when I explained to him that I was there on the previous Friday to pick up the paperwork, and he had mentioned that he was working remotely. I also told him that I had sent him a text message stating that I was there in the waiting room. I waited for about 15 minutes or so. He however told me that he wasn't a 14 year old to be texting. When I told him about him stating that he was working remotely, which the attorney office next to him could clearly hear him speaking. Anyways, he never apologized for lying that he was working remotely. He did say that I should have knocked on the closed door. Mind you, I spoke to him on the phone. Grr. Well luckily, I hope to never have to deal with again. I finally picked up what I needed. Overall value, NOT WORTH IT!

He basically handed us a stack of confusing paperwork to fill out at home. He also told us to talk to our physicians and then write our own healthcare directives. We were foolish to pay him the retainer without doing more research about what exactly his fee included. His fees are less than most, but you get what you pay for. To anyone thinking about using him for these types of services, I would advise you to either spend more money and go to a better attorney or spend less money and do it on your own online. Edited to respond to his response: I am so disappointed to read Mr Beirne's response. He is flat out lying. Dozens of emails and numerous phone calls? I wish I could attach our email chain to this review. We had our initial consultation meeting, and then he sent us two emails--one thanking us for payment and the other telling us to fill out the lengthy stack of paperwork so that he could begin the process. He had our successor trustee information from our first meeting. That was not the confusing part of the paperwork. We never completed the paperwork and he never reached out to see if he could be of assistance. (After all, we were foolish and had already paid him in full.) This all took place in August 2013. We had no further contact about the estate planning. Fast forward to this summer. I began thinking about the money that we had wasted, and it was clear to us that we were not going to complete the estate planning process with him. I contacted him to see if we could get our retainer back since we had done no more work with him other than what would be comparable to the initial consultation which is advertised as free. He had the audacity to send me a check for less than 20% of the retainer. He kept over 80% of our retainer for the "free consultation" service. I also found it comical that he sent a bunch of non-personalized paperwork with the check to make it look as if he had spent many hours on our file. Honestly, I would have had more respect for him if he had just said that the retainer was non-refundable, but misrepresenting himself and coming up with fictitious hours to bill is infuriating. I don't often take the time to write reviews. The ones I do write are positive to let someone know how much I appreciate their services. In this case, though, I had to make an exception. I see that Mr. Beirne has other positive reviews, so if you still choose to use him after reading this, I hope that is your experience. Ours was the complete opposite.
