I brought my 20 yr old special needs grandson to Color Me Mine to create a plate for himself. Jamie was so attentive to his needs , gently guiding him through the project, while listening to what he had in mind. She kindly asked about his favorite music , offering to play it for him, as he painted a beach sunset on his plate. He was pretty happy with his work and is talking about when we can pick up his fired plate and make something else. Her studio is immaculate and well stocked with many items to personalize and also has a great selection of glaze colors. Jamie's thoughtfulness and gentle instruction made Ryan's experience positive ,educational and fun!! I'm sure he'll want to go back .‍ Thank you Jamie

Assistants were very helpful. Great experience! I took my granddaughter to make a Father's Day present. He's going to love it!

The newest building has several classrooms and an awesome gallery. The gallery shows change frequently and feature various artists and themes. The property has an outside stage for performances, pastureland, outside sculptures, grassy gardensand there are adjacent hiking trails.

Established in 1996, Featherstone has quickly found its footing as a resource for classes, exhibitions, musical events, poetry readings, community events and opportunities to purchase artwork by island artists. There are classes for children and adults that include ceramics, printmaking, photography, creative writing, oil painting and more. Some of the classes are one time only and others last for several weeks. Take your pick. Special events include a chocolate festival and a Christmas shopping opportunity. Poetry readings in the summer have become amazingly great, with nationally known poets like Billy Collins and Jorie Graham. (Note that the island poets also show up and read their poems.) There is also a flea market every Tuesday throughout the summer, and some fabulous Musical Mondays when you can listen to the local musicians who are surprisingly talented. You stretch out on the lawn, swat away at the island's vast and hungry mosquito population and listen to bluegrass, jazz or folk music performed by your island neighbors. It's easy going and relaxed. Free classes for teenagers after school are especially exciting. Featherstone is not far away from the High School and the Y, making car pooling a snap, but island teens are also used to hitch hiking if they have no car. Some of the instructors are much better than others, but that is the case at any small arts organization like this. Just do your research and find out more about the teacher, as you would do for any class, right? It's nice to see Featherstone flourishing in a gentle and creative way here on the island.

A family friend brought my two daughters there last week…read more The experience was fine for them, however, this place does not advertise that the owner is extremely religious, plays Christian worship music, and writes scripture on the bags when the items are picked up. If that aspect of the business isn't specifically advertised, it can be a bit off putting for someone who doesn't know what they're walking into. Our biggest issue stems from that fact that this place took pictures of my children and put them on their social media. My wife reached out via chat on Instagram and was ignored. My wife called the business and talked directly to the owner and was met with indifference. She said that the Instagram account was ran.by someone else and she would reach out before pushing my wife off the phone. It was eventually removed and replaced, sarcastically, with a picture of my children with yellow smiley faces blocking them. The Instagram account also blocked my wife who only asked for the pictures to be removed. It wasn't until after this that we saw that she also posted pictures of our children to FACEBOOK and those weren't removed. We tried calling again, during business hours, and the phone was off. So I went there and spoke to her myself. I explained to her that putting images of children is against Rhode Island law. After making me wait, she got on her own phone and all of a sudden had access. She deleted the pictures and I went on my way. I don't recommend this place unless you're a religious zealot looking to spend the afternoon with an insufferable Karen who thinks breaking the law is ok because she's "always done it."

The owner was extremely rude! Her energy…read more was negative; she was cold and off putting. I asked her a question and she raised her voice like she was speaking to a child. Very disrespectful. The atmosphere was not relaxing at all. She needs to learn to treat people with professionalism and respect. We ended up walking out. We will never go back to "WEIRD GIRL"
