I traveled from out of town about four hours away to go to the store but I needed to know what their true hours were and if they were even open on the day I was coming. I didn't meet the owner but her kids covered when I brought my daughters and their friends. Outside of being expensive, they gave us tear drop size colors of paint at at time which was highly annoying until finally I just snagged the bottles. The daughters just roamed around acting scatter brained for the hour we were there. And finally since the owner wasn't there to fire up the kiln to put the finish on the completed works I have to come back in a week to get them. My kids couldn't wait to get out of there. Next time I'll just bite the bullet and drive the extra 10 minutes to plaster works in Needham. Cheaper and way more fun. Ps the pictures for this place aren't correct at all. read more

SCAM ARTIST BEWARE DO NOT GO HERE!!!! The owner makes you pay for the class ahead of time and you never get the finished product back. She lies and even uses the same lies and excuses on different people. I know of at least four people including myself who have had this happen to. read more

If I could give a negative star It would be merited. I painted on my anniversary, February 2019 and have been waiting for my items. I paid for them. I call, text an email. I get a response every month or so with an excuse. The business is closed. My online research has shown she has been doing this same game with MANY others. Well the police know now. This business went bad. If you got the stuff you made and paid for you were lucky. She claims illness, hospitalization and car accidents. All of which the police will find out if it's true or not. She has conned people doing a charity event, and not given the items!! I would avoid this business. read more

The Painted Turtle is an amazing place! I am so glad my daughter and I discovered it!! It is very affordable, such a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The owner is very kind and helpful. She has experience with children with disabilities, which made the experience so much better for my daughter with autism. We took one of the weekend classes and had so much fun! I was excited to take my 2y old to a clay handprint turkey class just in time to make Thanksgiving keepsakes for the grandparents. The class was in the evening and full of toddlers. Bernadette started late and ran the class as if she were teaching adults, or looking to get discovered as a master sculptor, elaborately explaining every step and drawing the whole process out, unnecessary and inappropriate for 2 year olds. The wheels fell off very quickly and all the toddlers were running around screaming while myself and the other parents attempted to speed up the lesson to finish the turkeys and get out of there. I ended up leaving before finishing the turkeys because Bernadette said she would finish them for me and I could pick them up later. Like other reviewers, I have gone to the studio during posted open hours and no one is there. I have called and no one has answered. I have texted and no one has answered. Finally she answered via text and could not find my turkeys. I went back and forth with her all day while she claimed she was looking for them, but instead she was posting Facebook videos. Instead of finding them for me or offering me a refund, she offered me a Christmas craft class pass instead. I did not take her up on that because I am never going back again. I was really looking forward to gifting my daughters grandparents a nice holiday keepsake and that chance was ruined. read more

Good luck with this place. I spent about $30 there one day and left my pieces to be fired. I have attempted on four different occasions to track this woman down, she can never seem to find my stuff. There's always an issue. It's been over a year now, I still don't have my child's piece and I am out thirty bucks. Do not go here! read more

Do not waste your time or your money, if they are even still in business. My daughter and I went last year to do Christmas trees, and had an absolutely terrible experience. We spent $150 for two trees, a larger one and a small one. I would expect quality for that, but we definitely did NOT receive it! We asked if we should clean out the holes for the lights, and Bernadette specifically told us not to worry about it, that she would take care of it later. Bernadette briefly told us how to apply the glaze, and then she left the two of us alone in the shop with some man who knew nothing about ceramics. She went to get snacks for a group of children who was coming to paint later that evening. She did not return before we finished. We were told that our trees would be completed by the next week, but it took several weeks to get them back. The same excuses that others have listed in reviews were given to me. Bernadette was again not at the shop when we went to pick them up, and the promised snow (which we had discussed at the initial meeting) was not given to us, because supposedly they did not have enough. The lights that were sent home were the wrong sizes for the trees, not that it mattered, because both of the trees had many, many holes that were not clear enough to get the lights into the holes. The holes that Bernadette had said she would clean prior to firing. Looking back now, she probably told us that to get us out of the shop before her party group came in, and then she forgot all about it. We wound up not even using the trees last year. After having spent so much money, I was determined not to let it be a complete waste. We ordered Duncan's no-fire snow to apply to the trees, and my husband used his drill to clean out the holes for the lights. Very nerve wracking, because I kept expecting the trees to fracture, but they are fine now. So, after spending another $20 for the snow, and yet another $24 for the right sizes of lights at Michael's, we finally have Christmas trees that are not a total embarrassment. Almost $200 for these TWO ceramic Christmas trees. Absurd. My complaints went unheeded, my calls were not returned. Oh, and the shop was a pigsty, stuff piled up everywhere, very unkempt and disorganized. I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

I Attended an event to make an item from clay. paid for item at the event. Was advise to wait a week for item to dry before you can paint it. I Never received called to schedule a time to paint my item. Finally returned (2 weeks later) to paint my item and I had to continue to ask for paint as stated in another review, "Provided drop size colors of paint". I now had to contact owner to find out when item would be ready as it needs to be fired in the kiln. I continued to receive excuses of "the kiln not firing", "ceiling leaks", "locked keys in car" and "has another commitment". Finally, my item should be ready on a Friday. I advised I would pick it up on Saturday. I arrived up at the business at 12:44 AM and no one was there. Sign on building indicates they open at Noon. I PM her and advised I was there and she indicated she would be there shortly. I left. Returned at 4:55 pm and was the item is in the kiln but to hot to take out come back tomorrow. I don't know why it would take a month and 4 visits to get an item I paid for up front. They can keep it. I also went with three other people. They paid for their items and yet to received any product to bring home. Beware!! Place is unorganized. Has a kiln which rarely works and ceilings leaks. I wonder how her ceramic pieces tolerate water? read more

We have now been here for two separate events. The first one started a half an hour late. The second one started 15 minutes late and we were not able to sit with our girls. We were told "these seats are reserved for people coming at 5:30." Owners daughter was helping out and was extremely rude to both guests and talking back to her mother while we were there. Saying "I'm busy!" when asked to give additional instruction to our 8 year old girls. We had asked several times for instruction and had to go looking for instructors for what was supposed to be an instructed event. I was trying this out with the intention of bringing my Girl Scout troop of 24 girls but my fear is the lack of organization and timeliness just would not work. Honestly I would rather pay just a little more and go to an event that starts and ends on time and not be left wondering through a project. This makes me sad because I was extremely excited to have a place like this in Attleboro but we will not be back. read more

The owner is extremely kind and definitely goes the extra mile . My daughter has been here several times and each time was better than the last. Make sure you have a few hours when you go because the children definitely take there time perfecting their pieces. read more
