She has a great personality, does excellent work, and always makes the experience enjoyable. They also offer, by far, the best pedicures in Orinda. You can tell she's put a lot of care into the salon as well, updating the chairs, floors, and overall space. The first visit was excellent. The second visit was good. And today the third visit was lackluster. I will not be back. It's disappointing that the services have fallen off. I've been coming here with my granddaughter about every two weeks, and we've always enjoyed it--especially since the new ownership. Unfortunately, our last visit was very disappointing. They were having water temperature problems and couldn't get it warm, so instead of replacing the liners, they just kept poking the bags to drain out cold water and pour new warm water in. Both my granddaughter and I developed nail fungus afterwards. Neither of us has ever had this issue before, so it was quite upsetting. I understand things can happen in this line of business, but the bags really should have been changed. Sadly, because of this experience, we may not be returning. read more

Smiley nail spa is finally open! I usually call the day of when I have time to get my mani and pedi done. The nice thing is they always accommodate me! Thank God. Once you come in they ask you to sanitize your hands. They thoroughly clean the chairs and sinks so it makes as customer feel really safe during this time. Unfortunately, during the manicure, the technician used the NAIL FILE across the top of my nail beds instead of using the appropriate nail buffer. I didn't realize how badly damaged my nail beds were until I took of the polish. It RUINED my nail beds, it left scratches and grooves across all of my nail beds! read more

Again!! I am on the search for a new nail salon. This place is Terrible. I got a dip manicure and it was the worst ever. The woman put like 5 layers of product on, she didn't clean my cuticles, or give me any lotion/massage. On top of this got my mom a pedicure. She recently had a foot injury so she didn't even need massage just clean up and paint. Her big toenail was crooked and they didn't remove ingrown or cuticles. THEN... the price. Yes, it's Orinda BUT $85 for this service!!!? Needless to say I will never go back and am telling my yelp friends to save your wallet and your nails. read more

Made an appointment a week prior to get a $50 mani pedi on a Friday afternoon. This place has automatic massage chairs and may not be as fancy as the others but the technicians are efficient and courteous. Right as you enter the front desk person checks you in and tells you to choose a polish color. Some of the bottles looked like they were close to being dried out so I picked one that was full. They have the high end polish brands like Opi and Essie along with the standard ones. The overall experience was pleasant. Hot bubbles from jets in a tub massaging your feet, an automatic massage chair with shiatsu balls rolling up and down your back. They have you pay before they paint your nails since it might take a while to dry. It has been about a week and my mani pedi are still intact. Overall, a pleasant experience. Beware of Color Me Nail Spa in Orinda... I went for a mani/pedi a week ago. The staff was pleasant and the service seemed ok --though a couple of my fingernails are now peeling (probably from the manicurist sawing back and forth to shape my nails) and my nails are stained from the polish indicating the base coat was subpar quality. Anyway, the real problem was revealed as I tried to pay for the service. I had a $55 gift certificate from my husband for my birthday. The person staffing the register refused to honor the gift certificate saying it was from the former salon, Smiley Nail Spa. Apparently the place switched ownership a month after my husband bought the certificate, less than a year ago. However, everything --including the phone number-- is the same so if you aren't paying attention you will be caught unawares like me. The salon switching owners shouldn't matter since when you buy a business you also buy the liabilities (which gift certificates are) from the seller. My husband was a small business broker who facilitated the sale of many nail salons so I know this is standard practice. Anyway, Color Me Nail Spa refused to honor the gift certificate (which had no expiration date and it was less than a year old) and so I ended up having to pay for the mani/pedi again. The person at the register said Smiley Nail Spa moved to Walnut Creek and that they would honor the gift certificate there--which I have yet to confirm. Note there weren't any signs on the door or at the register indicating the change of ownership and the person who scheduled my mani/pedi said nothing about Color Me not honoring the gift certificates from Smiley. I paid and left feeling ripped off but I did, of course, tip the manicurists 20% figuring it wasn't their fault. I am leaving this review as a warning to others. Take your business elsewhere! I made reservations for three persons to get treatments, and for my treatments to be with Deena. The three of us arrived and only two nail technicians were at the spa. It took over two and a half hours to complete my pedicure and nail dip. The technician lied to me about how much time it would take to finish my nail dip after finishing my pedicure. I missed an appointment I still had to pay for. I hate having my time being disrespected. Halfway through my nails, Deena walked in moments after another customer. I told her I had been waiting for her because I booked a reservation with her. She told me she had to take special care of this other woman. Apparently my reservation meant nothing. I have been to this nail spa many times. I have had my nails done by Deena many times. I tip so well many of the technicians are surprised when I tell them they don't have to share their tips with the others. I don't understand why they would burn a customer like me. This was my first time trying a nail salon in the Walnut Creek area, and for $75+tip, I'm not sure it was worth it. To be completely honest, I was so happy when I first saw my acrylics. But after I left the salon, I was shocked to see that they didn't bother to clean the acrylic residue around my nails. I asked for squared shaped nails and the lady that shaped my nails did half of them slightly coffin shaped and the other half square. On some of my nails, there is acrylic running off the sides, which distorts the shape of the nail. I am extremely upset about this. The lady that painted my nails did a decent job, I'm not too mad at the work she did. But, the tips of my nails are also super chunky, and I was wishing that they would have filed them down just a little bit more because they look extremely thick. It also took them almost 2 hours to paint my nails. I do understand that I have designs and French tips but I was hoping for the process to be a little bit quicker. I'm not sure I would recommend this place to friends. I am writing this review to let you know what it's like. The workers there are very friendly but I'm not sure that the work they do is worth the time and money that I paid. I hope this helps. The photos shown are 5 days after getting my nails done. Although it's been 5 days, that does not justify all the things that I've found wrong with them. read more

Teresa had an appointment at nine but advised that I make an appointment for ten being that the other nail technicians would be present. Fortunate enough they walked in as I chose my nail colors and they assisted me in my mani, pedi. Both were extremely attentive and meticulous with precision as they worked on me. They took their time and did not rushed. As others came and went for walk ins or appointments the ladies handled each customer with the same mannerism as a returning or new client.
