I'm extra picky when it comes to lashes... since I spent over 20 years working as a makeup artist, I know what I like! I've been going to her for years for making my lashes beautiful. Every time I have an event where I want to look extra special (such as a vacation, wedding, professional photos, or a party or festival..) I go see Sam for lash extensions and she makes my eyes pop in such a glamorous yet natural way. I've been to many other lash specialists and their extensions looked overdone, too thick, clumpy, or heavy and super obvious but Sam has a technique that looks so natural yet full of volume and length. Ladies - Song is the Bay Area's best kept secret. Before I would only get my lashes done in LA but that obviously wasn't sustainable, so I've been on the hunt to find someone just as good up here. After trying out 5 other lash artists in the East Bay with disappointing results, I can finally say my search is over! Song took the time to understand and work with my difficult lashes. Not only are they thin and sparse, but they're also oddly spaced far apart. This probably explains why putting long extensions at the ends of my eyes makes them look droopy since my lashes aren't strong enough to hold them up. On top of that my lashes seem to fall out faster than most people's, so previous extensions would barely last a week. I was wasting so much money! When I saw my lashes after our first session, I was very happy (and very relieved, haha). They were naturally fluffy, proportional, and flattering to my eye shape. Song is a true artist and it shows. I had gotten lash extensions a few years ago but couldn't do it for long because of how anxious and bored I got while getting them done. Sam is NOTHING like that- she's super quick, does an AMAZING job and is really pleasant to talk to so I don't start getting really anxious. Most of the time, the time flies by so quickly I don't even realize it. She does such a great job, I cannot recommend Sam enough. I started a few months ago as a trial for my wedding this year but I loved Sam and my lashes so much that I just kept getting them done. I get tons of compliments on them, and I have not heard "you look tired" since getting them done months ago which is amazing! When I walked in for my appointment with Song to have my lashes done, I wasn't sure what to expect but Song was welcoming and friendly. I filled out a bit of paperwork, standard procedure stuff, and laid back on the table. I really liked how Song explained everything she did while she worked (once she begins gluing the lashes, you need to keep your eyes closed for a long time; another reason why I appreciated her explanations). We chatted as she worked and she put on some relaxing music, too. It was easy to chill out while she did her thing and I was confident in her abilities. I even fell asleep for a little bit :) When she was done working, we had to let the glue set (eyes still closed) and Song cleaned up. When I opened my eyes, the lashes felt so natural. No stickiness or clumping. When she handed me a mirror I was AMAZED!! I have naturally long lashes, but these were stunning, thick lashes!! I can wear them alone, skip wearing mascara and they look awesome!! We even did before and after pictures which were dramatically different. I decided to go for a natural look but Song can also give you a more dramatic or flared look if you choose. My appointment was a week ago and my lashes still look awesome. How have I not reviewed Song and Sam?! I have been an on and off Lashes lover for years now. Taking the time to lay down and relax with either one of these incredibly detailed lash artists is a luxury this working mama can't always let myself indulge in. But recently, I decided i needed a little more twinkle in my eyes again. And there I am again, fully committed to my 45 min every 2 week commitment to waking up doe eyed thanks to Song or Sam(depending on who i can get in with). I hesitate to tell you this; I worry she will be booked when my lashes need a fill in, but... Sam is my secret weapon. I rock a pretty natural look, but even without any make-up I feel significantly more pretty with my lashes done. No one out and out asks about them because they look real (but amazing). Sam is a great conversationalist, or you can lay quietly and drift with her soft touch on your eyelashes. She's also amazing at customer service. Booking and paying are easy. Sam is exceptionally talented at lashes! She has such a delicate touch and an eye for creating a gorgeous lash. Recently, I had her give me a set of lashes and they were perfect and precisely applied and looked so natural, yet she really opened up the look of my eyes making the lashes wispy, full and flirty. I kept looking at myself and dreaming, "if only these were my real lashes, then I would never need mascara again!" The morning after I had them applied, I had a stranger compliment me and tell me how pretty my lashes were and how lucky I was to have such beautiful lashes, but she thought they were my natural ones, (I almost didn't confess that they weren't mine :)! When I've had lashes put on in the past by other lash specialists, it was super obvious that they weren't mine for the first week or so of wearing them and I even got weird-obvious-looks from people who know me, as if I could read their minds saying, "Oh, you obviously got your lashes done!" With Sam's lash application no one gave me those looks, but I got lots of sweet compliments on my pretty eyes. I felt way more confident with her natural lash application and loved wearing them. I also really appreciate how conscious Sam is at using high quality yet non-toxic glue and natural skin products. She's very knowledgeable and brings her experience and training as an esthetician and makeup artist. I also have to say, I'm super picky and not the easiest to please in this realm since I have years of experience as a professional makeup artist.
