I've been seeing Dina for over 2 years at Color Salon and my hair has never looked this good. I have super thick course hair and whenever I get my hair done in the past, I have felt like the stylist used hot tools to tame it. Dina takes the time to blow dry it one section at a time so that it lays flat without hot tools. I feel like my hair is much healthier and I also have been using the flat iron less. The task of finding the perfect hair salon can take forever, and not to mention be kind of risk taking.. but after almost 4 years living in the Triangle area and visiting a handful of salons and stylists, I have finally found the stylist AND salon I've been looking for! I've been coming to see Amanda Majeska since October of 2018, and she has never let me down. She has that artistic eye especially when it comes to COLOR! and she makes sure that everything is perfect before I walk out the door. I recently had an emergency hair situation come up - where I needed my roots touched up and my color refreshed as I was about to be in front of a camera in the next 24-48 hours. Amanda was incredibly accommodating as she was able to fit me in at the VERY end of the day. MY HERO! The salon as a whole is very charming, modern, and clean. The deco is SO cute! When I moved to Raleigh in 2012, I found a salon that I liked, and a stylist that I actually followed to a different salon and eventually to her house, for quite a few years. Then a REALLY bad dye job happened, and she wouldn't return my calls to do something to fix my hair. So, I lost trust and had a hard time, like, 3 years, finding a stylist that I clicked with. I FINALLY have found a new, permanent, stylist! Brehyan @ Color has been amazing in transforming my hair. After that previously mentioned dye job, my hair was breaking, falling out from postpartum, Hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's...just a perfect storm of bad hair. I couldn't tame the frizz. Through strategic cuts, expertly recommended treatments, and a reminder to be patient, my hair is coming back!! I can't express how incredibly hard it was for me to watch my hair go from long and thick and shiny and smooth, to frizzy and broken and even patchy. There is not enough praise to give to Brehyan for how she has helped me bring my hair back to life. And my latest cut (with a little summer color and an Olaplex treatment) has gotten me SOOOO many compliments! I'm a client for life! read more

I called and the receptionist was very professional and friendly and offered an appointment with Alyssa, who she said was "awesome." - Clean salon - check - Hip yet relaxing - check - Nice stylist - check - Good cut - check - Hair ready for anything check Alyssa was friendly yet professional. She chatted enough, but not too much. She took time cutting my hair, asked me a few questions, offered her advice. Never tried to upsell me on anything. After she dried my hair (which she is great at), she shaped it and finished it to be the perfect "casual chic" look I was going for. My hair had movement, but also definition. They completely messed up my hair. This was in June - I've been dealing with the consequences ever since. I asked for my hair to go closer to my normal hair color and showed four or five photos. I described my hair as light brown/strawberry blonde. Later, other stylists explained that at the consultation, she should have simply suggested adding lowlights. This is the sort of expertise and consultation that was missing. She rushed and was rude. My hair came out way too dark and blotchy due to uneven corrective die application - to cover up a horribly red undertone. My husband was shocked at how horrible a job they did. I went someplace else to have it corrected - it was hundreds of dollars to get it to a semi-reasonable state and it's still not completely grown out. The owner, instead of apologizing for the error, he said it looked nice and that they did a good job. read more

Here's the thing ladies, if you are a Redkin color girl, do not except any substitutes (Aveda,Wella,Paul Mitchell,etc.) go to BLO salon in Brier Creek. Don't believe other salons when they say they can match Redkin and don't buy the "if you want all over color, you have to do highlights" .. You don't! I've always been one of those people who just walks into a place and asks the man/woman to cut my hair in the same shape it was before. As I start a new job on Monday and a whole new chapter in my life is about to begin, I figured I'd take the plunge and get a real haircut. Color Salon had some glowing reviews on Yelp and Google, so I figured I'd go there. The prices were higher than I'm used to (I normally go to chains) but it certainly wasn't unreasonable. As soon as I walked in, I was asked if I'd like something to drink while I waited. I declined, but did notice tea and mugs on the coffee table. After waiting for a very short period of time, my stylist, Autumn, greeted me and chatted about my hair. I told her I was comfortable with whatever she thought was most flattering for my hair type and face shape, and she ran with it. We ended up cutting over 8 inches off (which seems like so much, but I had a LOT) but I love it so much! It's flattering, easy to just wash/comb/go, and young. I'm only sad that I'm moving away from this area and won't be able to go back here for a long time! It was a great experience and I can't highly recommend this salon, nor my stylist Autumn, highly enough. read more

Had a seriously bad experience and will never go back. I am new to the area and trying to find my key places for hair, nails ect. I tried this salon and only wanted some blonde highlights to my mousy brown hair with some low lights. I asked for hair color that looked natural.. I got reddish orangish hair that Alyssa had to immediately redo before I even saw it. 61/2 hours later I left devastated and told I could come back the next day to fix it for free. This review isn't for a haircut but a blow dry service. The receptionist I spoke with was really nice and helpful. I don't actually remember the name of the stylist who I was scheduled with, she was nice enough though. The hair wash was great but my hair didn't turn out anything like I'd asked. I have very fine, very straight, long hair. I asked for brush set with soft curls with a lot of volume. I ended up leaving with straight and frizzy hair. Perhaps I should have told her that I wasn't satisfied but I was pretty clear with what I asked for initially so I didn't see much of a point. All in all, $40 for a blowdry + tip really was not worth it. read more

I visited Color salon and hair spa once in early 2016. Service was ok (the stylist was kind of aloof, not friendly) and price seemed high. The outcome of my appointment was ok...my hair looked decent after getting highlights. However, my hair had changed to an orange straw like texture after a few months. I have since changed salons and have never had this outcome with the other place ...this is after not making changes to hair products I use; so I can confirm that the texture and color were not a result of my hair products. First visit went fine. Cut and color with Erica and she was great and I was pleased. Second was a disaster and unfortunately they lost my business. I received a reminder call for a scheduled haircut appointment and called back to confirm. At that time I also asked to reschedule by other scheduled appointment for my color from Saturday 7/21 to Saturday 7/7 as I was going to be on vacation from 7/12 to 7/19. Receptionist said no problem and booked me for 9am on Saturday 7/7. At the end of the call she asked if I still wanted to come Saturday 6/30 for the cut and I said yes. I showed by today at 9:00 as scheduled and the same receptionist who confirmed my appointment said that she was sorry but "somehow my appointment disappeared from the schedule" and she didn't know what happened. She then told me that the stylist was blocked out until 10am and was book solid all day. Needless to say I was not happy! They called/text an hour later offering me a free haircut. Okay I'm thinking "maybe this relationship can be saved". I told them that I would just add the cut to my next scheduled appointment. The same receptionist texts me and asked me if I wanted to add the cut to my appointment on 7/14? What??? 7/14??? Just two days ago I had them reschedule it to 7/7. Seriously? I would NOT have scheduled on 7/14 as I will be on vacation!! A salon is only as good as their scheduler and a stylist's livelihood is their book. This salon needs to LISTEN to their customers, schedule them as requested and not have appointments just "disappear". If they don't figure it out, more customers then me will disappear! read more

I gave Autumn a few tries, but I wasn't impressed. Every time she cut my hair it came out looking a little different than it had the time before. I also tried coloring three times: the first time, it was close to the reddish brown I wanted; the second time, it was a deep purplish brown (horror!); and the third time was highlights to attempt to mitigate the awful color before. Color application was SUPER sloppy every time...I'd have splotches on my forehead, temples, and ears for days afterwards. I got Supercuts quality every time, and for the kind of money Color charges, I expect something better. read more

I started coming here in October of 2018. I love this salon. I read some of the negative reviews on this site and I honestly have never experienced anything other than absolutely stellar service. The salon is clean and stylishly decorated. The owners are very nice, personable, and knowledgeable. They are graduates of Paul Mitchell the School Raleigh, so they received and exceptional education, and it shows. The receptionists are nice and very helpful. As soon as I walk in I'm greeted with a smile and they ask me if I would like something to drink; they offer water, wine, and beer. My stylist is Amanda Majeska (@majestic_hairstyles on Instagram). She is phenomenal! She does amazing work; I get fashion colors and a haircut. Sometimes she does designs in my hair. She also gives the most relaxing head/shoulder massage while washing your hair. So far she has dyed my hair (not all at the same time) red, blue, and a pinkish red with silvery purple. I love coming here to have my hair done! read more

I have never had such a horrible experience. I went to have my hair highlighted to cover my gray. I told them I didn't like an ashy white blonde but more of a honey blonde. When my Hair was done, I still had gray all around my face and at the roots. The color was ashy white. When I said the gray wasn't gone I was told she was trying to blend the gray not cover it. What? My choices were to wait until my roots grew out and I needed more highlights or she could try to cover the roots with color. I went with the color because I couldnt leave with the same gray I came to have covered. I was put under hot lights and my head started burning. I had no idea what kind of processing was taking place. When it was all said and done and after 4 hours, I went to pay and the stylist apologized and said she was only going to charge me half. Then the girl at the register told me I owed $240. WHAT??? I told her when I called to maKe the appointment I was told it would be $125. Someone named Deanna told me it STARTS at $125. They were charging an extra $20 for toner TWICE! Once for the highlights and a second time to fix their mistake! They were charging me a another $140 for the second color to do what they were supposed to do the first time!! That was the only thing I was getting half off on, the SECOND $140. When I told her they were charging me a second time to fix their own mistake, Deanna started yelling at me. I told her again I was told it would be $125 and she said I couldn't get my hair highlighted anywhere around here for that. I told her I had many times and she said welL that's what WE charge. They finally took off part of the charges for the second corrective color and I still had to pay $175! I have never been spoken to so horribly. This girl was very aggressive and actually yelled at me. You can't have highlights without toner. I have NEVER been charged for toner. I was even charged extra just to dry my hair! Don't go anywhere near this place unless you are ok getting yelled at and nickled and dimed for every little thing that is always included at all other salons! You will be charged for their mistakes and you are at risk for the same botching of your color that I experienced. I left with orange tinged roots and was devastated. read more

I stopped at this salon after driving by multiple times. I was looking to have my hair dyed back to my original color. I've done a lot overtime to ruin it and I wasn't able to get it back to my color on my own. When I stopped in the receptionist was very nice, the owner came over to give me a consultation. After hearing the price I was excited because it was less than I thought it would be. They were able to fit me in same day and did amazing work. The first photo is my hair after, which looks exactly like my color and the second was the orangish color it was before. I've read other reviews of people saying that the place was dirty and they didn't care about the customer. I had the exact opposite of that. They really seemed to be interested in me, when they ask questions it didn't feel forced and they were genuine and professional. I only saw one person on their phone and that was before their shift. After seeing my stylist at Color for years (getting highlights and gray coverage) I cheated and went to see someone else, out of curiosity. I found out that my stylist at color had been charging basically double for what I was having done. I watched the salon go from being a fun and clean environment to dirty and unprofessional. I watched my favorite receptionists slowly disappear, and watched while an unaware, unprofessional, and underdressed receptionist has taken over.
