Joke. The worst experience of my life. My appointment started at 10:30. The girl never introduced herself. Never asked my name. Called me by my last name. Didn't talk to me the whole service. I showed her what I wanted and her AND THE TEACHER KIA said they could do it no issue. Lots of issues. I was in foils from 10:30-3:30 she then washed and toned and got me in the chair at 4. I left at 4:30 because I have things to do and don't trust this child to dry and style my hair. I left this circus with wet fried hair and girls telling me how great it looks. The teacher came over multiple times saying it looks good and the color is taking well. When I told this to the manager she said "well she was probably taking to Reagan telling her a good job." Okay either way it's a lie. The girl is clearly not ready to work on hair. I specifically told her I do NOT want blonde on the top of my head because I wear my hair up every day. Her and Kia quoted me 3-4 hours. I told them that's how long it takes a professional and she still said 3-4 hours. I was there for 6. No apologizes from anyone about that either. $162 and 6 hours later and for what? When I went to speak to the manager Tuesday she never apologized. Never even pretended to show sympathy. Said "we'll it's a school so you take that chance" What. The. Hell. What kind of response is that? She was bothered I was taking up her time. I am genuinely concerned with the people that teach here. The customer service is a joke. The manager is a joke. The teacher is a joke. Do not waste your time or your money. You will not be refunded no matter how much damage they cause to your hair. Reagan is the stylist and needs to be held back. She has no business working on hair. She is in over her head. Now I get to take another day to sit and get this corrected. Do yourself a favor and spend the $$$ on a legit professional who will make you feel like a million bucks not like a sweaty crumpled dollar that's been shoved in a boot. The ladies that run this "school" should be ashamed but they can't find a care in the world. Enjoy the pics of my experience and hopefully it teaches you to just spend the money to have it done right by someone who will care about you.

I went to Paul Mitchell's the School because I needed my hair washed. The place was well organized + clean and they had plenty of products for someone looking for their brands specific. I ended up getting my hair washed by a student who was extremely nice + welcoming. She was very knowledgeable about natural hair. The teachers there made sure that the students knew what it was that they were doing. I ended up getting my hair curled by the student and she did an okay job! The parking is great. They have a huge parking lot. Overall my experience here was okay.

Wow. I read the reviews, but I knew hair and I figured there was no way that with their knowledge and my knowledge they would be able to ignore proper hair care. Wrong. I went for a cut and a perm. I was there five hours. I left without a perm and a lot of burnt hair. The student was very nice. She did what she was told. The instructor, 11/25-awful. There for a perm and haircut. You cut hair like mine after a perm. The student opted to cut it before. I questioned it and she said this was the way. I had some highlighting done two months prior and was specifically there to have the damage cut out. So we're cutting the damage out before we're about to damage it more. Awful. She missed the front part of my head. At this point I'm not too worried because the big thing is the perm and she has just a shored me that we're supposed to cut it before. And I can trim my bangs myself. I have a long long history of perms not taking in my hair and curl falls out very quickly from heat styling. But I just had some color done so it should've been easier. Nevertheless I go to a lot of trouble to explain to the student and the instructor how I've been permed many many times since I was a child and it didn't take. She conditioned my hair prior :/. Worth noting, My hair never burned off before and we're talking 1990s perms. The goal was to get them to use smaller rods and a strong enough perm to take immediately. The instructor directs the student to use larger wave rods. The one time the student did listen to me was whenever I told her to roll the front of my hair back instead of forward which would have been a nightmare if the perm had taken. Let's skip over the hour separated by 15 minute increments in which the student tried to get the instructors attention checking it every 15 minutes and it being clear the perm was not taking. She was required to get the sign off from him before going forward bc the perm at the base level should only have been on 15 minutes. Was he prompt,? No. He was chatting leisurely each time we needed him. At one point I went and stood near him with my arms crossed until he recognized the student. Let's remember I had partially damaged hair, came in to have the damage cut off. It was clear at every check the perm wasn't/was barely taking and surprise, it didn't. I am in hour five and very frustrated because I have been clear every step of the way about what things are likely to work and feel I've been ignored. I'm not sure the order of the next part but the student begins to blow dry my hair pulling it straight with her fingers and using a downward facing concentrator. The WORST thing you can do. At this point I call it. I tell her to stop everything and I need to talk to the instructor. I told the instructor I was frustrated because I felt like I had wasted my Time, six hours the day before Thanksgiving is a lot of value. He proceeds to gaslight and condescend me telling me he doesn't feel like I wasted my time and going on and on about how getting curl is a process and I need to be patient. I made the conscious choice to not dress him down in front of his students and regret it. He says they chose a weak perm which was the right choice for my partially colored hair which may have had some validity had they not left it on for what was north of an hour or pre conditioned it. He tells me he can get my hair to curl immediately with the strong perm which makes me upset because I was very clear about my hair needing that and putting it on for a short amount of time would have been the right choice. And having spent so much time they could have pulled the plug sooner and tried something different or just done a deep conditioner and let me have my time back. Because some was already damaged it was insane to leave anything on that long. So most of the hair in the front left of my head is burned off as well as the underneath right side. It has been snapping like dry twigs for over a month and I just found some products that are making it feel like real hair again. There is no curl. I have all of this waste all of this damage for nothing. Great news though, they gave me a discount on the perm. But now I need a haircut. ‍.

Robin was very knowledgeable about natural hair, cut and color. I received a base color, partial highlights, a blow out/flat iron and my ends trimmed. When I first arrived, I wasn't greeted for several minutes, the receptionist saw me but seemed distracted by the computer system. I was greeted and taken to the salon area by Robin. We did a consult, selected the colors of my choice, and talked about different options for styling as well as what would be best for the health of my hair. I really appreciate Robin taking the time, overall I had a good experience. I was there for about five or six hours, that is why I left four stars instead of 5.

The customer service from both students and instructors is always top-notch, making you feel welcome from start to finish. I've even brought my grandson in for a haircut, and they took amazing care of him, except for a small mishap at the shampoo bowl where he was drenched with water somehow. The student offered to put his shirt in the dryer so he didn't have to walk around with a cold, wet shirt. Overall, if you're looking for affordable beauty services in a friendly, well-kept space, I suggest going to Sherrill's. Just keep in mind that the students are still learning.

The first time I went I got one student to do my hair and it looked great, everyone in the salon was complimenting me. I went back a second time and asked for the same guy, but apparently he was done with his salon hours so I was assigned this other guy that should seriously drop out of beauty school! He was so rude, his flat iron was really cheap and he left a bunch of flat iron marks in my hair, and put a lot of oil in my hair (a first for me). It was so bad that another girl offered to pas her flat iron over my hair to try and fix it, but the damage was done. Since it's a school, you don't get much consistency and very little choice in who does your hair. I would really recommend just spending a few more dollars to see a professional and not face the luck of the draw here.

One student told me if I selected small rollers, "You will be here alone to dry (my hair), and you will need to take the rollers out yourself because I'm leaving". I did not have a problem modifying my choice, but she should have presented her position in a respectful manner. If you want to be treated as a client, I advise you to pay 15-20 dollars more and go to a real salon.

BUT Ruby got it GOING for me! Went blonde to brown/cool brown. She was very fast compared to some of my other visits although I did have to schedule way in advance for full color/ highlights. She was gentle and made sure I was comfortable- even offered me (for the first time being a customer) a complimentary neck/shoulder massage. May need to try and book her again before she graduates.

The music is quite loud and runs the gamut from Green Day to smooth jazz. I wish they'd turn it down as I had to scream pretty loudly to talk to my stylist. Here are the issues I noticed that are preventing me from going back: -My stylist was really nice, but never offered me any tea, which is a signature of Aveda salons and shops. The other customers around me all had tea. I ended up asking for some and they only give you a 2-3oz cup - not the stylist's fault, just seems like they could offer a full cup. -Again, stylist was very nice, but she never offered me any of the complimentary services such as shoulder massage, scalp massage, mini facial, etc. After the lady next to me (lol my mom, we booked our haircuts at the same time) was offered all of the services by her stylist, I ended up asking mine about it while she was shampooing my hair. She gave me both a mini facial and scalp massage which were lovely, just remember that they're very brief services, less than 5 min each. -Something I loved: The shampoo room has full tables allowing you to lay down at the wash bowl, which is awesome! They even provide cushions to place under your knees for back support. -This might just be my preference but I don't want to have a conversation when I'm getting my head massaged and a mini facial. I really wanted to sit quietly and relax but my stylist started asking where I was from, etc. -Ok, here's the biggest reason I wouldn't go back to a level 1 student. I asked for a very simple haircut, the same haircut normally takes my regular stylist less than 45 min, including shampooing and a blowout. My full appointment at Aveda from first discussing what I wanted to having the instructor sign off on it to shampooing and cutting and getting multiple checks from the instructor and having the instructor to fix some spots to finally getting my hair blow dried (which had to be sprayed down with water again bc it was nearly dry by the time she finished cutting) took over 3 hours!!! I live almost an hour away so I lost half the day to a simple haircut. Highly recommend bringing a snack along, btw. -If the appointment had stated it may take that long, I wouldn't have minded. But the appt lists the haircut time slot as an hour and 45 min. -The students aren't allowed to accept tips. That's not cool. Regardless of how long it took, I really wanted to make sure my stylist got *something* so I was bummed that I couldn't tip her at least a few bucks. -Be aware that your haircut is a learning experience for the student, which I'm totally cool with and was happy to help! But the instructors come by a LOT to check on how it's going and make sure you're happy and to provide any fixes. There are some long conversations around techniques and how the student should be cutting, etc. I didn't mind at all, but I did start to reach a point where I just wanted the instructor to finish my cut so I could go home. Bottom line, if you're on a tight budget and you have a ton of free time, this is a great option for you. I have medium length hair and it was $19. I'd be open to going back and working with a level 3 stylist as they're much more experienced. But the 3+ hour time for a simple trim was CRAZY. I'd gladly try the other services if I lived closer as the prices are really great. But again, I'd stick with the more experienced stylists.

The studio is very colorful with lots of decor and several tables and chairs in the front of the business. Aprons are also provided. I heard about the adult chef series from the owner Debbie at the north hills block party. She was really nice and excited about this event. At the chef series event she told us that they had just started the adult cooking classes about 6 months ago and that they are so much fun. For today's event they had a special food and wine pairing with Total Wine. The Wine Steward, Nathaniel, recommended certain wines that would go well with the items that we prepared this evening. He was very knowledgeable and funny. He also gave us coupons for future purchases at Total Wine. This was my first times at a cooking studio so I thought that each person or group that came together would prepare all of the recipes but each table ended up making one of the 3 recipes. This ended up working out well because the two hours would not have been long enough for everyone to do all of the recipes. Our table ended up making the southern cornbread but since it was a quick recipe we also assisted with the Butternut Squash/Apple & Pear Soup. The last table made the Spicy White Bean Chicken Chili. The food was really good and filling. I thought that the chili was going to be really spicy because it had green chili peppers but it had the perfect amount of heat. I didn't know what to expect from the soup but it had great flavor. The cornbread was not bad but our table thought that it was missing something. The butter that was provided helped. The wine tasting occurred while our food was cooking. It started off well but then when a few of us left to finish the soup we never really got back on track with it. I enjoyed hearing Debbie tell us about the past and future adult chef series classes and the children's classes. We also enjoyed being able to meet and interact with so many cool people at our table. Debbie and her staff were very helpful providing us with utensils, drinks, directions, etc. We had a great time!
