Tried 2 other Korean barber shops in the Triangle (Hair News and Miss Kim's), and Scissorhands (Andy) clearly provides the best service but compared to the other 2, it's also the most expensive, which is enough reason for me to alternate between the 3 aforementioned Korean barber shops. Scissorhands is my family's favorite with my two younger brothers regularly getting haircuts here. Andy is not as friendly as Miss Kim in Morrisville, but we recently had a nice conversation about the Korean language since I just started studying it. The cut was masterful, for sure, and followed the example I showed in a photo saved in my phone. Shampoo was included at no additional cost and I did not have to wait in my latest visit around Friday noon. I used to pay around $30 to $35 for a regular men's cut but the latest service, Andy charged me $40 (not including tips). As for the atmosphere, it's more spacious than their old location (where they shared space with other salons) but it's not as spacious as Hair News. Nonetheless, it's in a good location by High House Road, close to Cici's Pizza, a small Walmart market, and just less than 5 minutes drive away from HMart. read more

Amazing hair dresser! I called a few days prior to book an appointment (they don't have a functional website), which was a really easy process. Came in 10 mins before my appointment and got seated right away. The lady who cut my hair was so sweet and precise, and she asked me a bunch of questions about what I wanted. I let her have a lot of freedom, and it looked great in the end! It was a longer appointment than I expected, but she was very detailed. It ended up being $70 which is pretty expensive in my opinion for just a woman's haircut. If you don't mind paying a hefty price, you should come here. read more

Terrible, I'd give them a 0 if I could. I had a 1:30 PM appointment. I got there 10 minutes early. A woman came in behind me, they went up to her, saying nothing to me. At about 1:30 another person came in and they went right up to him, again not a word to me. I waited about 15 minutes more and a man came in, they went up to him and I could hear the proprieter say to him something to the effect of "I'll fit you in" and they took another in front of me, not even bothering to say anything to me. I wonder if the fact that I was the only non Asian in the shop had anything to do with it? After wasting 25 minutes as the invisible customer I left. In addition the shop is in a corner next to a cigar bar and the smell was disgusting and overpowering. You couldn't pay me enough to go back. read more

The owner of the store consistently gives good haircuts and washes your hair so little strands of hair don't fall everywhere when you leave.

Had a superb first experience here. I had the male stylist (didn't catch his name) - there are only two stylists, one male and one female. I do not speak Korean but that was not an issue. I came prepared with a couple photos of the style I wanted - U shaped with long layers. The stylist understood perfectly and the haircut only took about an hour. A wash was included and it only costed $50. I am recommending the salon to my sister and niece. Am happy to support local and minority business! read more

Great establishment in the same building as my other great barber, Tony Li (see "Tony Li Hair Studio"). I don't know the names of the owners. They are Korean with working English proficiency. Very friendly. Sometimes, they run behind by as much as 15 minutes and frequently by 5 minutes, so I recommend only scheduling if you don't have meetings/other things to do. Great haircut, caters to the Korean-American segment since Korean is the native tongue of the owners, though all are welcome, and you know they care about their craft if they name their establishment after a fictional hair stylist known for his hair cutting prowess. read more

I used to like this salon and had my hair cut several times. Starting this year, Scissorhands started to charge way more than it used to be. The increase is more than inflation. If you think of adding a tip, it is too much. Their hair cut technique is fairly good in this area, but no comparison to Tokyo. They do not wipe your hair bits off from your face when finished. Sometimes they don't put a towel around your neck to limit the hair falling onto your clothes. Felt like I'm just a money tree. Customers will sense that. read more

I regularly get digital perms. Before I discovered Scissorhands, I did some research and noticed that not many salons in the Triangle offered this service. It made me a little nervous to know that most stylists in the area probably wouldn't have the skills necessary to not fry my hair. Problem solved! I have now come to Andy for a digital perm three times and it always comes out looking great. Perhaps more importantly, Andy cuts and styles my hair in a way that it grows out well, making it easy to maintain even after months have gone by. Super clean and professional hair stylists and shop. Prices were fair too. The shop is owned by a husband and wife duo from Atlanta. They were both super nice and stylish. The wife cut my hair and the husband cut my mom's. They both gave us very helpful advice on our hair types and how to take care of it well. I had damaged hair from perms + hair dyes and she cut them off well. Now my hair is soft and Looks healthy. I will be making Scissorhands my main hair shop from now on. My fiance got a haircut there, and it turned out very nice! We asked the hair stylist to do a wedding look for him, and although my fiance said he didn't like it, I thought it looked nice and clean. Comfortable little family owned shop run by a real professional. We were here for about 4 hours getting my wife's hair cut/washed/permed. Worth every penny on my wife's hair and very easy and fun to talk to (practicing my Korean). Recommended us to some great places to eat around the town if you want some great Korean food.
