No bueno. The bushes are not tall enough here.

There isn't coincidence. I first discovered this location 2 years ago; I thought it should be added to the Yelp map. After I did a deeper search on desktop Yelp site, it looked like someone already started a biz page but not close enough to check in to (http://www.yelp.com/biz/colorado-county-rest-area-columbus). I always stop by whenever I go to San Antonio on my way home. I want to enjoy both natural and man-made beauties. It's a place to relieve and relax after heavy snacking at Buc-ee's 60 miles earlier. My recent visit wasn't so pleasant. On my rush trip home from San Antonio, I wanted to rehydrate my throat. But the restrooms were closed. That didn't make sense. Both sets of bathrooms, really? I asked the guy who was emptying trash bins. He was clueless, "I don't know. He has to come out first." I walked by the office, I didn't see anyone but heard phone conversation with urgent and worrying tone. The sign said cleaning. I think it was something more than that. Ok. Let me just move on. I tuned to my favorite radio station 100.3 from Houston and listening to country music going home. If you're westbound to San Antonio, check out its identical twin across the highway - Colorado County Safety Rest Area Westbound http://www.yelp.com/biz/colorado-county-safety-rest-area-westbound-glidden.

Very clean, no smells.... pleasant maintenance personnel. Very polite. Nice picnic areas, vending and a bench or two. Covered areas, truck parking. Parking lots maintained, no trash issues.

WOW!. I wouldn't think I would give a REST STOP five stars but after sitting, that's right SITTING, on I-10 in traffic with two kids, I decided I HAD to pull over. This rest stop must be the nicest in Texas. It had two sets of beautiful, clean bathrooms with AC. The picnic tables were numerous and covered from the sun. The grassy areas were well set away from the roads so I wasn't nervous when the kids decided to run off some steam. We also used the vending machines, which were well-stocked, and that's when I noticed a sign for free Wireless Internet Access. Are you kidding? Free internet in the middle of nowhere??!!!?

One of the sets of restrooms...very clean!

Really clean and well maintained rest area. They have two sets of restrooms, so if one is being cleaned, the other is open, and I swear they must clean these every 5 minutes, or nobody actually uses this place! There's a lot of green area, so if you need to get out and stretch there's plenty of room for that. Not sure if pets are allowed, but there may be a separate pet area. If not, please pick up after your pets! Leaving your dog's poop out is just gross. Very nice area to stop and take a break from the road!

Very clean stop. The grounds are nice and shady but the car parking lot could have been bigger. But staying so we will see.

I ended up in Texas because of a guy with a Buc-ee's T-shirt…read more About year ago while shopping for groceries at Freddy's (aka Fred Meyer) I saw some guy confidently wearing a red t-shirt with a cartoon looking beaver on it. I was like, "Um, ok, what's that about?" I got home and looked it up. I found out it was Texan company. Then I decided I wanted to visit the biggest Buc-ee's in the Lone Star State. We landed in San Antonio and rented a car. Thankfully it didn't have a California license plate. We drove to Luling on our way to Austin. We pulled into the Buc-ee's parking lot. We saw the gas prices. Gas in Texas is more affordable than Washington State. Took a photo with the metal critter in front of the entrance then made our way into the store. Spacious, busy. Bathroom was clean. We picked up some brisket sandwiches and some sodas. Food is more affordable in Texas. We also bought some souvenirs to take back home including a red shirt with the beaver.

Restrooms had two hand soap dispensers completely broken, paper towel in the corner on the floors, soda station a mess and not wiped, slushie station a mess, coffee sauces out, empty bottles sitting there, coffee machines dusty with beans all over. Come on Buc-ee's. Is the normal standard not there anymore. No more wow factor anymore? Or getting too big that procedure is being lost in the process? Didn't look like people were working and the ones who were seemed very unhappy and not guest focused. Coming from someone in management for the past 15 years. Maybe it's just this Buc-ee's that needs work?

So my father being as old as he is has to stop every 60 miles to go to the bathroom, damn all that medicine he takes. Any ways....i decided to stop and stretch a bit while he ran in. Right when you get into parking lot it's free and clear of any trash. The bathrooms are located inside the rest stop building that has a small museum in it with snacks and drinks. There is even a kids play area right outside that is pretty solid. New and shaded area for a quick pic nic and a few nice trees with park benches underneath them. Now if you have the four legged family pet there is also a dog walking trail. I don't of course so I didn't check it out. I'm really impressed. It felt like I was in a huge park ready to enjoy some perfect scenery. If you ever need to stop and stretch this is a location I would suggest. It's definitely not like the scene in the movie "There's Something about Mary" with Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz. If you haven't seen this movie before sure to YT that scene. You will get the joke. My second time ever at this Buc-ee's after many years and it did not disappoint!…read more First of all - THE BRISKET TACO IS BOMB! We came during breakfast and we only got to try the brisket taco, tater tots, and Dr Pepper slushie but the taco alone was phenomenal. They had fresh brisket that they cut and then made the tacos right in front of us. If you're able to grab one of the hot and freshly cut brisket tacos for breakfast they are so juicy and good!! The rest of the store is amazing too! Of course we couldn't leave without a couple of souvenirs like every flavor of the jerky, Buc-ee's plushie keychain, pen and magnet. Everything was surprisingly affordable for branded merch! The staff were also very friendly and helpful even though there were so many customers. Definitely a great attraction and would come again!

This was my first time ever seeing or visiting a Buc-ee's, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! They have something for almost everyone, and the sheer size and variety of the place were quite a sight to see. The outside was packed with an impressive number of gas pumps (almost all of which were fully occupied when we visited), with freezers full of bags of ice lining the storefront and even branching onto the side. Once inside, there was so much to look through: home goods, jerky, candy, drinks, instant coffee stations, ICEE machines, fresh fruit, freshly made fudge, sandwiches and wraps, nuts, baked goods, Buc-ee's branded products, gift wares, Texas souvenirs, toys, and so much more. I had a hard time deciding what to get with so many options! We ended up leaving with some candy, an ICEE, gift shop items, Buc-ee's branded products and merchandise, and their chopped brisket sandwich. And honestly, the chopped brisket sandwich was much better than I expected from a gas station. The brisket was tender, juicy, and fairly flavourful. I went in with tentative expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good it actually was! The bathrooms were impressively large, clean, and surprisingly private, which is always a huge plus during a road trip. The store itself was fairly large, clean, well lit, and well stocked, with plenty of staff around if you needed help. It was genuinely fun to walk around and explore everything. This location also had EV charging stations. A few Buc-ee's rules to note: No transports and large commercial vehicles. No leaving your vehicle for extended periods (although I didn't see an exact time limit posted). No napping in your vehicle in the parking lot. (List is not comprehensive) For food hours, breakfast runs from 4:00 AM to 10:30 AM, with the transition to lunch taking place from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Their BBQ starts at 11:30 AM and runs until after midnight. It was a little crowded when we visited around 9PM on a Sunday, but I can understand why, and I can only imagine how busy it must get during prime travel hours. Overall, my first Buc-ee's experience was a lot of fun! We spent around an hour and a half perusing everything there. There was so much to see, eat, and explore, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I highly recommend making a pit stop at Buc-ee's if you get the chance!
