This is a nice shaded rest stop area w picnic tables. There are 4 ladies rest room stalls, one of which was handicap accessible. There is also a fold down changing table w a wall built in for privacy. When I walked in it wreaked of urine though. 2 stalls were out of paper & one was locked w the yellow stand that goes on wet floors hanging over the door. The left faucet water would not come on but at least there was soap & the right faucet worked. A man knocked on the door when I was about to walk out. He was just in time bc this restroom NEEDED his attention desperately. I'm sure if I hadn't walked in at the very end of a shift before a cleaning that this would be a great restroom at a rest stop. The water fountain water was HOT though. We had drinks in the car. I was just curious if the drinking fountain actually worked. My advice: Don't use it! This place would've gotten 2 stars but the man arriving to clean, saved it. read more

A very nice modern rest area that is always well maintained and kept very clean. There are nice picnic areas. Nice area for fur babies to take care of business. No problems at all with parking. I never dread when I have a need to stop here on my way to or from Katy. read more

There isn't coincidence. I first discovered this location 2 years ago; I thought it should be added to the Yelp map. After I did a deeper search on desktop Yelp site, it looked like someone already started a biz page but not close enough to check in to (http://www.yelp.com/biz/colorado-county-rest-area-columbus). I always stop by whenever I go to San Antonio on my way home. I want to enjoy both natural and man-made beauties. It's a place to relieve and relax after heavy snacking at Buc-ee's 60 miles earlier. My recent visit wasn't so pleasant. On my rush trip home from San Antonio, I wanted to rehydrate my throat. But the restrooms were closed. That didn't make sense. Both sets of bathrooms, really? I asked the guy who was emptying trash bins. He was clueless, "I don't know. He has to come out first." I walked by the office, I didn't see anyone but heard phone conversation with urgent and worrying tone. The sign said cleaning. I think it was something more than that. Ok. Let me just move on. I tuned to my favorite radio station 100.3 from Houston and listening to country music going home. To All the women that come here be careful !! Yesterday I went to the restroom with my 3 year old and when I was in the stall I heard someone go to the stall next to me and I thought it was weird because from all the stalls this person decided to go to the one next to me so I decided to look up the stall in case that person was looking and there was a Man looking at me !! I said wtf then as I was getting ready to leave the stall he was infront of my stall looking at me through the gap and it was big gap !! He was looking at me and jerking off !! I scream so loud then he stared running out the stall !! I carried my daughter and ran out the stall so fast to my boyfriend and I told him what happened he started looking around for him !! He asked around where he went ! Someone said he ran towards the woods !! As I was standing waiting for my boyfriend a lady told me when she was in the restroom someone said hello in the women restroom and I asked her if it was a guy and it was ! It was the same guy ! I called the police !! Hopefully they will find him !! The guy is Mexican , he's tan , he looks like he's 45 or 50 !! So to all the women that comes here don't go alone if you do take a weapon !!!! I will never go to rest areas again , I will post everywhere about my experience because this guy is going to rest areas looking for women !! read more

Again very clean as always. Very safe. There are two sets of toilets so one is always open when the other is being cleaned. Nice picnic area and plenty of room to stretch your legs. Bookmark this place! it's popular and there is always people parking, but you always have a spot but may have to walk a few yards farther. WOW!. I wouldn't think I would give a REST STOP five stars but after sitting, that's right SITTING, on I-10 in traffic with two kids, I decided I HAD to pull over. This rest stop must be the nicest in Texas. It had two sets of beautiful, clean bathrooms with AC. The picnic tables were numerous and covered from the sun. The grassy areas were well set away from the roads so I wasn't nervous when the kids decided to run off some steam. We also used the vending machines, which were well-stocked, and that's when I noticed a sign for free Wireless Internet Access. Are you kidding? Really clean and well maintained rest area. They have two sets of restrooms, so if one is being cleaned, the other is open, and I swear they must clean these every 5 minutes, or nobody actually uses this place! There's a lot of green area, so if you need to get out and stretch there's plenty of room for that. Not sure if pets are allowed, but there may be a separate pet area. If not, please pick up after your pets! Leaving your dog's poop out is just gross. Very nice area to stop and take a break from the road! read more

Very clean rest stop along I-10 on the way from San Antonio to Houston on the eastbound side of the freeway. A dedicated ramp makes ingress and egress from the rest stop easy and fast. The restrooms are clean, and there are two sets of men's and women's restrooms, in case one's being cleaned. I was pleased to see that they were blasting rap music in the restrooms over the loudspeaker. There's a place to have a picnic with tables, and a walkway that explains what Texas is doing to help recycle tires, by putting them in the walkways and streets. There are vending machines, with prices a bit higher than you'd see at a Circle K. This rest stop has plenty of parking, and there's a big area to let a dog run around or stretch your legs. I really enjoy the tile work here- as you drive over the covered area, you can see a mosaic of a Texas bridge about to be driven over by a pickup truck. There's some sort of steampunk looking contraption in the middle of the rest stop that seems to be detailing something about Texas roadways, but it was broken when I went. read more

I know, it's weird to review a Rest Stop. But I think it's THAT important! This is my favorite Rest Stop that I've ever been to in all of my days of Road Trips. And I've been to lots of places in Texas, on lots of different highways, interstates, farm roads, etc. This rest stop is well maintained, beautiful grounds, super clean bathrooms, air conditioning, vending machines, grills, picnic tables and lots of parking. There is free wifi, but it's spotty af. Outside and inside, the restrooms are very clean, there's a little video display of some nature stuff and they have some displays inside with a bit of history written. In the parking lot, it is very clean and lots of parking, there was a camper with hippies sleeping on top and there was a homeless lady in her car, but was picking up the trash around. Nothing to be worried about and we were there at night time during my trip back with my brother and still very safe. they have a picnic area and jungle gym, if no one is around, feel free to swing about! Can easily support my bro of 200lbs LOL! The snacks inside are up to date and not molding, I got some soda pop and candy and bro got a pastry. Nice and toasty inside during the winter! read more

Stopped by today about 1:30-2pm and it was pretty busy. The employee was standing around (smoking-maybe?) the corner and 2 of the 3 women's restroom areas were closed. I walked in the one that was open and there was a line of ladies some with kids waiting to use a stall. I was disappointed. read more

Clean bathrooms and not crowded at all. Nice grassy and shaded area with picnic tables. Vending machines are available. The only complaint is that there are not enough parking spaces for cars. Plenty of parking spaces for 18 wheelers though. read more
