Dr. Jatana and his surgical team receive a five-star rating from me only because the Yelp system does not permit a higher rating. His knowledge of the Cervical Spine is encyclopedic, his candor and honesty are beyond reproach, and for me, the outcome of a multiple, cervical disc replacement was an outstanding success. Dr. Jatana was wonderful - his team of PA's and nurse specialists - reflect his philosophy of placing the patient's welfare first. It is rare for me to be trusting of a surgeon, but Dr. Jatana is a straight shooter and he and his team were able to assuage my concerns regarding this delicate surgery. You may ask why my apprehension is beyond what anyone would normally feel facing c-spine surgery, here is why. Before retirement, my principal job was reviewing healthcare organizations for a congressional committee of the U.S. Congress. Unlike today, this position at the time was totally non-political. The scope ranged from major multiple hospitals, clinics, rehab, nursing homes, and related healthcare organizations. Admittedly, I saw the full spectrum of healthcare quality - that is why I rate Dr. Sanjay Jatana and his team of professionals so highly - they represent the best possible confluence of surgical skill and knowledge with extraordinary people skills. Even in the years since my retirement about a decade ago, I saw the full-range of quality in healthcare. At the bottom end of the spectrum are surgeons who drag gargantuan egos through the hallways and produce bad results. One north Denver based surgeon spent a total of less than three minutes total over the course of two office visits with me for a Lumbar disc replacement, instinct told me to just walk out - I knew better - I wish I had. He did not even bother to stick his face behind the pre-op curtain before surgery and did not follow-up post-surgery, left me in excruciating pain of 10/10 for an hour because the nursing staff were terrified of talking to this guy, and finally saw me some three months later, almost an afterthought. He spent more time talking about his teaching engagement in Europe than caring about his patients. This is the exact opposite of Dr. Jatana and his team's approach - thank goodness. My training and expertise tell me that you cannot go wrong with the Jatana-team. I think he is the best I have ever seen! read more

Dr. Aguwa is a miracle worker. I had a herniated disc and was not looking to have surgery but saw Dr. Aguwa for his opinion. He was honest and up front saying that due to what was seen it was most likely surgery would be needed but he didn't push it on me. He gave me time to approach the situation with physical therapy and injections. I did make some progress but not enough to live a fully functional life without limitations like before. Dr. Aguwa was right, surgery it would be. He is very personable, considerate and caring. He makes sure you fully understand what will happen and things should be after surgery so you should not have any doubts in your mind. He is a miracle worker! I got to go home the same day of surgery. The nerve pain was gone immediately and I didn't even really need any of the pain meds after a few days. *Also I don't have any strange butcher/ Frankenstein scars, which is a plus. Dr. Giselli is greedy and pompous. Don't waste your money. I have Cervical Spinal Stenosis. I was referred to him by a friend who said he was fabulous. I went to Denver Spine Surgeons for a second opinion after going to another doc and I'm so glad I did. Dr. Sanjay Jatana was very knowledgeable about my condition and went above and beyond explaining all my options. Fortunately I don't need surgery at this time but if that changes I'll be coming here. I hear this is the creme of the creme but be prepared to be treated like you are in their way and are completely stupid. Dr. Ghiselli did my husband's back surgery last Monday. It was a pretty intense 5 hour surgery. Dr. Ghiselli is very thorough and reassuring. My husband went to the initial visit alone. I went for the pre-op visit so I could get all the details. I'm sure my hubby asked all the same questions that I did, but the doctor never seemed irritated or rushed. I liked that someone called me at the halfway point during surgery and right after just to let me know the progress of things. Hubby just went for his post-op follow up, and he looks great! The financial advisor is also really kind too. I would recommend this office for sure. read more

Gary Ghiselli was the doctor I went to see, but I only saw him for 30 seconds of my 1:30 appointment! Not sure why I'd go see a spine surgeon and only want to talk to the PA. She looked at my back and xrays and recommended treatment. He acted like a wipped husband when he came in the room just agreeing with what she said even though he hadn't looked at me. Dr. Ghiselli is egotistical and dismissive. Long story, short version: a ruptured disc occurred when I was out of State. My orthopedic in that State took an MRI and gave me a diagnosis. I had just moved to Colorado with my wife and had to be out of State dealing with properties, so I thought it prudent to see my longtime orthopedic to get his opinion and get all of my records to bring to Colorado. I wanted to have it also looked at and ultimately dealt with here in Colorado. The out of state doctor recommended physical therapy and possibly injections but admitted that surgery was probably the best ultimate answer. I had a very successful surgery completed approximately 6 years ago by the same Doctor. Dr. Ghiselli disagreed with surgery and suggested physical therapy with injections if needed. Physical therapy helped very much, but my back was still sore everyday beginning by midday. So, after 3 months, I went back to Dr. Ghiselli. He totally discounted the idea of trying an injection or doing an additional MRI to have a better look at things. He literally said just to take Aleve and if it hurts to walk 2 miles, just walk 1 mile. Wow. Simply wow. He totally dismissed my input. I'm not interested in pills. I'm interested in a full life. Needless to say, I got my records and have an appointment to get a qualified second opinion. Perhaps Dr. Ghiselli is right, but I seriously doubt it. If the second Doctor concurs with him, I'll be back to rectify this review. But don't hold your breath. There are lots of doctors in the area. At least find one who values the patients input. read more

After various back doctors successfully managed my back pain for 43 years (kudos to them), at 61 years old my spine had become sufficiently unstable that I had no choice but to have surgery. I had heard that Dr. Wong is one of the best spine surgeons, not just in Denver, but in the world, so I was familiar with him. A close friend, who is a well known rheumatologist in Denver, confirmed that Dr. Wong is absolutely top shelf. In 2016 Dr. Wong performed a fusion and related surgery on my spine. From the initial consult forward, Dr. Wong was the best of the best. He is deliberate, patient, calm and thorough in his approach--just what you want from someone operating on your back. His bedside manner was excellent. His staff also was top shelf in every respect. This was a significant surgery that required a 3 to 4 month rehabilitation (although Dr. Wong had me doing exercises within days), and Dr. Wong was a partner through every step of the recovery. I could not be more pleased with his work. Within months I was back to hiking, skiing, whitewater rafting, golfing, and fishing. I feel fortunate to have had such an accomplished surgeon perform my surgery. read more

First, I have to say that I have been to these offices twice and have seen two different doctors. The first, Dr. Ghiselli, was completely dismissive and refused to even consider treating me. Cut to 8 months later and me still in tremendous pain, I was recommended to go see Dr. Wong. He was extremely knowledgeable, but was extremely unempathetic and honestly had no bedside manner whatsoever. After telling me that my condition had progressed too far to be treated, and me breaking down in tears in his office, he merely shook my hand and left. Um, gee...thanks! I was floored. The whole office is rude, makes you wait over 45 minutes to an hour before seeing the doctor and truly seems to feel that their patients are a nuisance. Maybe if the first doc here would have helped me, my condition would have still been treatable. Who knows? All I do know is that these docs may be recommended as surgeons, but as human beings, they fall VERY flat. Not impressed, not worth my time and would NOT suggest if you want to see someone who actually cares that you are in pain and are a person! read more
