We recently had Heartwood Custom Floors install new flooring in a previously sunken living room…read morethat we had a carpenter raise up. Dillion was the second installer that we talked to and we were immediately impressed with him. He was very personable and very knowledgeable of his craft. He provided an estimate with a detailed explanation of the scope of work within 2 days after our first meeting. We chose Heartwood Custom Floors over the larger established and well known competitor that we first talked to. The flooring that we needed (ash and cherry) was a special order and was delivered within the timeline that Dillion had given us and the installation began on the day he scheduled. We were told by Dillion that his brother Eric would be doing the install and just like with Dillion we were immediately impressed with Eric. Our flooring needed to installed on a diagonal to coordinate with the rest of the 40 year old flooring in our house and it needed to be done within a cherry wood border. Diagonal install is more tedious and time consuming. Eric got right to work on the project and after many hours of hard work the new wood was perfectly installed. Eric was conscientious about the color of new wood looking as good as could be with the surrounding older floor and showed us 6 different stain possibilities, one of which was custom blended and was just right. Eric also refurbished a cherry border that was in our dining room without having to redo the rest of the floor in there. Our project was completely done within the timeline provided to us. We couldn't be happier with the final results. We would not hesitate to use Heartwood Custom Flooring again and highly recommend them.

Which are all process decisions that they need to revisit, because it likely costs them business if they would do it right. Culvers will not take your job unless it "eats up a full day". Meaning their slots are day slots. I get it - they need to pay people. The way you do that: have HALF-day slots and charge for that. Because you see...Josh himself said, quote, "you'd end up paying double". Which means that if they were to do half-day slots, it would be the viable price that he thinks it should have been...but because they refuse to do that, they basically overcharge you for work. The key with them is that they don't care for any small jobs. Solomon C indicated some trim painting, which I consider a small job, so whatever they've changed is a recent development, likely. Brenda O indicated an issue with coats of paint - everyone with competency knows that a single layer of paint was not going to be sufficient for anything. Conversations with Josh revealed a minimal understanding about color blending, and it's possible I dodged a bullet. Either way, I won't use, consider using or refer them until/unless they're willing to rethink their business model to better accommodate ALL customers without significantly sacrificing profits.

Exterior painting does not come cheap, especially because our house is two stories, and the roof is definitely steep in several areas. Some smaller, highly rated painting companies outright declined to do an estimate as it was late in the season (September) when I started getting quotes, and our house was just too much of a challenge. Fortunately, Culver's was prompt with a response to come out and review the proposed job. They provided an estimate, which was not inclusive of the paint which we had to provide. When compared to the subsequent quotes I received, Culver's came out the most competitive, and I chose to go with them, and I am glad I did. Culver's was able to start the job a couple weeks later and they were able to complete the job in two days. I reviewed all the areas that needed to be painted with them, and the crew was professional and communicative. There was an area I forgot to point out during the estimate. I asked the crew if they would be able to include that (a couple small areas on the ground floor), and they did at no extra charge. They did thorough and excellent work, and I was very pleased with the final product. Culver's is definitely a great choice for painting jobs. They will be at the top of my list should any other painting needs arise!

Fast forward months later, far too much frustration & regret, still waiting for a botched job to be complete & the original contractor no longer showing up to finish the job, I contacted Danny again asking him for another quote to finish the work and hoping he wouldn't be insulted that I didn't go with him originally. Needless to say, he was incredibly cool about it and was able to stop by within a couple of days to see what his guys were working with. Not only is the bigger job now complete within a couple of weeks of me contacting Danny, but also a few other smaller areas that had been an eye sore for too many years. Danny always responds quickly, communicated frequently throughout the process, checks in on his team and answered all of the many, many questions I've had along the way. They close their shop at 4pm so i had to leave a voicemail. when I finally got in touch with her, she had no clue why the guy did that and offered yet another one to come out Giving the benefit of doubt I agreed. This time the guy showed up 5took the information and said he would drop the estimate off to the Boss. after getting no response from them I called again This time she claimed the worker took the paperwork home with him as he had some sort of emergency. She said he would bring it in when he got back in town. I told her just to email it to me and that is the last I heard from them!!!! That is the rudest treatment I have ever received from a company advertising no job is too big or small. I don't know how you stay in business with that lack of competency.
