I go there voluntarily and they ask for a urine test for protocol. They left out the part that they screened me for drugs as well. I wasn't court ordered I was there to get mental help. Intake took hours and I was t able to make a phone call. Without my authorization they tested my piss for other reasons. What bull shit is that? I refused the blood test and I am positive the urine test wasn't mandatory but the doctors want to shove there noses in everyones business. I wasn't suicidal or wanting to hurt anyone. I went there for outpatient surgery with Dr. Marici. All the nurses and staff were super nice, friendly and patient and were very caring. I was told to go to 1st floor, DON'T. Start on 3rd floor. Otherwise, you will be walking around wandering. Signs not to clear but staff and other patients very helpful in finding. Check in was smooth and fast. Room was warm for me. Cold for others. Bring a blanket, I've seen thicker scarves. They will bring you a blanket if you ask. They provide a locker. Also bring a bag for clothing (not comfortable putting on locker floor). They will provide a number that will be on overhead monitor stating patient in surgery. DON'T pay attention to it. My husband left for a little while. When I called to ask where he was, monitor stated, I was in surgery, I wasn't still in hospital room. However, surgery went well, staff very nice and professional. Truth: I was there because of Dr. Marici. I've had 3 colonoscopies at NDH so I would rather go there. read more

I have used the Emergency Department here three times. The first two experiences were excellent. Twenty-three years ago hospital staff removed a tick from my 5 year old son's eyelid. Eight years ago I was treated for cracked ribs. On both occasions the visits were relatively brief for an ER. Staff professional and courteous. As I write this review I have been in the ER for SIX and A HALF HOURS awaiting treatment for what I believe are cracked ribs. X-rays were taken less than 2 hours after I arrived (not too bad) but the staff incorrectly reported that they were for my right side, not my left. This error was corrected. The X-rays were then promptly reviewed by a radiologist offsite and the report sent to this hospital FIVE HOURS AGO awaiting an Emergency Room doctor to merely review them with me. My pain is worsening as I continue to wait and wait and wait with literally dozens of patients. Turns out that at night there is only one doctor on staff at the ER! The cafeteria is closed. If your name is called and u don't respond- perhaps you went to grab a sandwich- you have to start the entire process over from the beginning and you may get charged for 2 ER visits! Numbers of patients have left the ER instead of waiting for treatment. What is going on with the hospital administration here? Avoid this ER if you can. read more

I went to Columbia Memorial Hospital and apparently HIPAA doesn't apply here. I was sitting in the waiting room when registration came up to me and had me give my full address, phone number, email, what was wrong with me, and all my other personal information right there in front of everyone. My ex had to give his info too. Everyone in the room could hear it. I know people heard everything because I overheard the girl next to me talking with her doctor. I now know her full name, where she lives, and details about a serious medical issue she might have. I should not know any of that and she should not know anything about me either. Then they called me into the small vitals room. While I was in there, an altercation broke out in the waiting room. The woman taking my vitals left me alone in the room to go get involved instead of letting security handle it. A nurse practitioner walked in and said, "Did she just leave you in here alone?" They were told I am prone to the problem I was having, but instead of checking anything deeper, they did a quick urinalysis, gave me one pill, and sent me home. No imaging, no blood work, nothing to rule out other issues like appendix or gallbladder problems which can have similar symptoms. When they took me in the back, it was just another waiting area with patients sitting right next to and across from me while I had to discuss my medical history and get examined. When I used the bathroom to give my urine sample, there were at least six empty beds not being used. I also overheard a child's diagnosis because he was sitting next to me being examined. When I asked the registration lady about HIPAA rights, she said, "Oh, you can type your address in if you want." That misses the point completely. Privacy is supposed to be proactive, not optional after the damage is done. This hospital is a safety hazard. You never know who is in that waiting room but they are making you give out your address and phone number right there. If a dangerous person hears it, that is on them. On top of that, they ignore possible serious conditions, give you the fastest and easiest diagnosis they can, and send you on your way. If you care about your safety, your privacy, or getting proper medical treatment, stay far away from Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY. I would give negative five stars if I could. read more

Not a hospital consumer and never been to an Emergency Room as a patient, my experience is limited. I was pleasantly surprised by the responsiveness and competence of the staff. I had no interest in hanging out in an inner-city hospital, so opted for the local community hospital assuming I would be sent home quickly. Not so. Low blood pressure and septic situation had me hospitalized for three days with IV. The plentiful nursing assistants acted like Alladdin when I pressed the nursing. button. Went to see the Urologist. Was repeatedly given to the PA. The PA didn't listen to any of my concerns. As a result I got a staph infection, serratia, and e-coli infections in the course of four months. I think they actually be killing me. Go someplace else. read more

I have had excellent care with the orthopedic doctor, Dr Gorczenski, at the Bone and Joint Center and would have been happy to schedule my next knee replacement but the hospital has discontinued my Insurance, Humana! This is my third visit for pain management, so also third copay. The doctor is great, but the hospital will not let him perform a simple preliminary pressure point treatment prior to additional treatment despite the fact that the doctor wants to do the procedure. It's non-invasive and does not include medication, but it does prevent an additional copay. Patient care is not solely the practitioner's responsibility. It is also incumbent upon the organization to ensure the patient experience is a good one. It's not. read more

Dr Pomichter took vitals, paper work, etc. Few minutes later staff came, asked me several questions. Dr P. running around office necessary work paper work, staff job! Dr Pomichter stressed. It amuses me to read reviews on Yelp that rate hospitals and emergency rooms with the same criteria as restaurants or hotels. They couldn't be more different. If you get sick and find yourself in an emergency room, pretty much anywhere in a rural community in the northeast United States, you better buckle up Dorothy, because you ain't in Kansas anymore! A rural hospital in central NYS has little in common with more desirable (and often equally bad) versions in NYC. Let's be frank: medical care in rural Greene and Columbia counties is more akin to what you find in a MASH unit on a battle field. With an aging boomer population and a dysfunctional health care system, base line medical care most everywhere for just average folks sucks -- period! As I see it, over worked medical professionals these days (especially those with the finest credentials) look for high-paying gigs to pay off big student loans and transition (preferably as fast as possible) into a comfortable upper middle class lifestyle. And if everything works out just right for these upwardly mobile professionals, maybe they get there by, say, age 40. Nurses and many other front line health care professionals and staff often suck wind and may never gain financial independence, despite the equally arduous nature of their jobs. That said. Hudson IS NOT the obvious choice for a steep career trajectory in medicine sought by the best and the brightest, which is why you shouldn't expect to find that here. So you get what you get at CMH -- which is a health care delivery system that employs locals, that lacks the resources to attract the best and the brightest, and that can't afford the cutting edge technology which turns good medicine into extraordinary medicine. I'm pleased to report, however (and contrary to most of the other Yelp reviews), that my experience here is a good one. My 96 year old mom ended up at CMH for inpatient care several times in the past year. She received competent medical care for relatively uncomplicated issues. The staff is polite. The docs are skilled enough for her needs. The social worker staff is available, empathetic and professional. I can't say this is the cleanest looking and smelling hospital I've ever seen, but then again, it's not that much worse than a geriatrics ward in most any hospital. I have seen much worse. Try getting sick in a 4th world country or poverty stricken inner city American hospital -- and you start to gain perspective. Overall I give CMH high marks for the care and dignity accorded my ailing Mom. We had to be persistent at times and insist on certain accommodations, but that's true everywhere -- if you really care about your aging loved one. Sadly, these days, most hospitals unceremoniously warehouse sick old folks to make room for the younger. Reminds me of the Eskimo practice of marooning elders on an ice floe to meet their maker. Can some form of forced euthanasia for the elderly be far behind in America? I hope not. Top Tip: Valet parking here is convenient -- and for senior citizens it only costs a buck for the day. I arrived at 645 am to check in for some blood work. a handfull of ppl wait to be checked in, one very loud man , who i assume was suppose to be checking ppl in was on phone trying to figure out hours n how ppl getting paid. another women helping. he helped one person check in. then made another phone call on same matter. the lady checking me in was very nice could tell she was annoyed! i was called back for my blood draw, same man came back and still very loud in my eyes interupting the very nice ladies drawing blood! he was very disruptive and not saying nice things! For a hospital where ppl are not always feeling well , I was very put off by his behavior, especially as one of your employees! the lady that took my blood was not happy. n couldn't wait to have 2 days away from this man! My wife took a fall and hit her head. She had outward signs of a possible brain injury. Two days later, she finally relented and went to the emergency department at CMH. She was taken in immediately, placed in a private room, and subjected to a battery of tests and examinations, including imaging, as quickly as they could administer them. Everyone conducted themselves in a highly caring and professional manner. I felt VERY confident my wife was in good hands and receiving the best care possible. My thanks to the entire staff for everything. read more

Everyone has been very nice every time I've gone for any appointments and speaks perfect English. After dealing with the FL medical community for the past 28 years its a refreshing change to get GOOD health care by someone you can understand and actually likes their job and treats me like a person and not gum stuck on the bottom of their shoe. Update to this review. I had the misfortune of having to deal with a Horrible Overzealous Anesthesiologist named Dr Melissa L Williams. She singlehandedly made my surgery a total NIGHTMARE demanding excessive unnecessary tests that I just had done several weeks prior with perfect results . I don't know who she thinks she is to override my surgeons decisions but I have filed formal Complaints against her totally unethical behavior with the hospital, Medicare, my insurance company and the state of NY. What she did to me, she should be fired and lose her medical license FOR GOOD!! I've also hired a lawyer to sue her sorry ass. I hope she never works in the medical field again. If you are experiencing an emergency, do not go to this hospital. Take the extra hour or so and go to Albany Med. Sunday night I was experiencing terrible pain in my abdomen. They made me wait for hours, and didn't pay any attention to me. They finally did a ultrasound on my gallbladder, even though the pain was all over my abdomen. Hours later they told me they saw nothing and sent me home with the advice to take a Tylenol every couple hours. I went home in worse pain than I was when I went. I decided to go to Albany Med and was finally diagnosed with appendicitis, which they missed somehow. They do not care about patients and do not have great bedside manner. Definitely avoid CMH at all costs! read more

If I could give a negative rating I would. This facility does not follow HIIPA regulations. In our experience they dont base anything off of medical evidence and look for the easiest way out of dealing with patients short term and long term. They gave out patient information to someone we listed as NO CONTACT and proceeded to let our family member out of the hospital after they repeatedly said they were a danger to themselves. I'm repulsed by this place and it's no surprise they only have a 2 star rating I hate that I even have to give it any stars. read more

The billing department is a nightmare. They will call you to tell you about a bill before they have even sent it out to you. Solid 3.5 stars. This review is for the Women's Health Center reason for 4 STARS: if you call for basic insurance info, the staff in the financial office is very helpful and informed; Lori and Ashley in financial services are kind and seem happy to do their job and follow up when they say they will (thank you)! The women's health center has its own valet which can be helpful but I didn't use it so I can't speak to experiencing it. But I will say gross weather like November was really awful and being pregnant that service makes a nice plus. I arrived 30 min early and that was helpful being a first time patient. My appointment was at 1pm and it wasn't too busy on a Monday (later in the afternoon it looked really busy). The staff was friendly. The check in room got extremely busy as I was checking out... and there was a slight mix up with my blood work that required me to make an extra trip. I wasn't very happy with the oversight but humans make mistakes. Still I feel like the women's health center deserves at least 3 stars. My experience would merit a 3 1/2 stars, it was clean in the rooms/ bathroom, and I thought the ultra sound tech was helpful during a difficult time (went in for a pregnancy loss) and the option to do follow up blood work in catskill was a convenient option which is closer to me. There was a little more confusion in the catskill lab center which caused a little more doubt in the organization of this hospital but their staff there made for an additional half star too. read more

The first place I've been to in months where people were not wearing masks indoors. The hospital. Have someone in the hospital and it is terrible checking in on them. When I do I hear nothing good about how they are treated. Employees have previously left and nobody was left looking over patients for hours on end. When someone does eventually pick up the phone most of the time the employee sounds drunk or high. They don't seem to take their job seriously and I feel like you would be better off taking the extra time to avoid this place at all costs. It does not feel like a safe place to have a family member be treated when their life is on the line. read more

Rudest emergency room receptionists I've ever experienced. My teenage son was having heart issues. I sat quietly for 2 hrs before I asked to go in and see him. I was told I could not because he was over 18. I pointed out that the large sign at the entrance said each patient is allowed one visitor. I watched all night as visitor after visitor was allowed in to see their family members. They didn't seem to understand why I was so upset. What these two nasty human beings didn't seem to grasp was that I was a concerted parent who had no info on his son's health, and that their job is part customer service. When he was finally discharged after 4 hours the receptionist yelled across a crowded waiting room, "Hey! Your son is being discharged!" I asked if she was talking to me. She said, "Yeah, but you weren't looking at me. You're too busy with your phone!" The people sitting in the waiting room were shocked. They couldn't believe she talked to me like that. The PA was nice and informative at Valatie UG. The treatment to get to her was horrendous. The receptionist argued with me repeatedly as I choose not to list a contact or leave messages. She kept saying you don't understand and most people do. Maybe she should be educated as some people cannot and for safety have a choice I was not having any follow up test and the number listed was a preference not to call. She then took her mask off to say it louder. I should also mention how she asked my dob 3 times and asked me 3 times if my telephone information and address on file were updated. I stated we reviewed and she said she forgot her glasses. When I tried to explain to the nurse she gave bad bedside triage and said I so not want to hear it call patient rep. way to go as a nurse! How can I as a patient now feel comfortable? It was the PA who made the experience and results better. She explained the injury and precautions. I understand the country is suffering from staffing shortages but we as consumers should not feel the wrath of bad professionals. read more

This is by far the worst hospital I've ever been to! My sister as of right now is in Albany Medical Center getting the exact treatment I was yelling at the doctors at this location to do. She was 12 weeks pregnant. We found out March 3rd 2021 that she lost the baby. The next day she started bleeding and cramping really bad. Passing blood clots the size of her hand. Only for Columbia Memorial to say "oh we are just going to monitor her throughout the night and she'll see an OBGYN in the morning". I said you don't have an OBGYN in the building right now? They said we do, but her condition isn't severe enough. I told them over the phone because they wouldn't allow anyone to go in with her due to this stupid pandemic. "My sister obviously needs a D&C!!!! She is hemorrhaging!" "This is not normal!" Again they said "we are just going to keep her on fluids and monitor the bleeding." (Which has been a lot of bleeding for the last 2 hours). Columbia Memorial was ready to discharge my sister after the ultrasound and blood work came back. They said "it appears there is nothing inside her uterus". I said "So why is she bleeding so much!" I knew she had something still stuck inside her uterus! She was hemorrhaging!!!!! We told the doctors "that's it!" "You need to bring my sister out so we can take her to a real hospital!" (Of course they were offended) They were insisting we was making a terrible decision. Also said there was a 90% chance she won't make it to AMC, but if they were just going to monitor her till the morning? It couldn't of been that serious for me to transport her myself. As soon as we got to Albany Medical Center they immediately did a blood transfusion and got her an Operating Room ASAP to do the D&C. Like I told these ignorant doctors to do hours ago! I made her leave Columbia Memorial and I drove her to Albany Medical Center. Less than 1/2 hour after arriving to Albany Medical Center she has had the best nurses and doctors working on her! IMMEDIATELY!!!!! Please do not bother with this hospital. If I would've allowed my sister to stay here she would have bled to death or lost her motherhood (uterus). Columbus Memorial was literally doing nothing but making matters worse, by doing nothing! I'm glad my sister is alive and well NOW! IF YOU REALLY LOVE YOUR LOVED ONES STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE OF MALPRACTICE! These doctors are ignorant. It's like they got there degree off a damn cereal box. This should be renamed "Columbia Memorial... because you'll likely need a funeral or memorial service IF you stay there or get any "treatment" there. You'll certainly get bed soars if not something worse! Two nights created Such an intense bed sore near my tailbone that my regular doctor was horrified when he saw it! Now that was after getting admitted. The ER is about 90% elderly patients, many from nursing homes. The rest seem like homeless or very ill people needing proper care and treatment! I actually overheard a nurse say she would be the one that day to call pest control after a patient left. So obviously he was known well by the staff. The ER did seem to have one capable doctor. Since you must wait sooooo long to get any care, you may encounter several doctors. Upon my horrific visit I unfortunately encountered 3 - one is so overweight you think he might suffer a heart attack right there. I feel a doctor would at least practice a healthy lifestyle or l mean, try to appear to(and this cannot simply be a health condition or simply " big boned").He's utterly miserable and barely speaks to you. He just orders anything possible. I would venture a guess to drive the bill up higher. Another was a woman with the bedside manner of a rabid dog. Maybe Stalin would have more compassion. Hippocratic Oath? Not a chance! I feel sorry for anyone who would have to rely upon her opinion. She told me that she "runs the ER". Yet, she's not even an MD! She's an osteopath. The only doctor who was compassionate and knew what he was doing was relatively young , tall and slim. I wish I recalled his name because he deserves the recognition. I only noticed about approximately 30% of the staff (and that is being generous) on the ER floor wearing any PPE. Lord, you have to wear a mask to enter Dollar General! Yet, they accept COVID patients, as I overheard a staff member say to another that he had a COVID case coming in. I also noticed those 30% who were actually kind and seemed to care. The staff who weren't masked should be ashamed. I guarantee there's some type of Medicare "deal" (I wont say what I actually believe is happening). During my time there, which will live with me in my nightmares, a very elderly obviously, mentally incapacitated woman was wheeled into their "Mental Health" area-something like Riker's Island. From outside the doors you could hear her screaming in terror! Not even less than probably an hour later, she was merely rolled out and left on her own by the exit to await transport back to her nursing home. She was supposed to be transported with another patient. As I overheard the charge nurse yell at the staff EVEN she couldn't believe the woman was still sitting there hours later. it's really just a roach motel claiming to be a hospital. Has no one called the NY BOARD OF HEALTH on these people??? Well, they'll be getting a call very very soon. It's so utterly wrong to take such advantage of sick, elderly, mentally disabled or unstable people like this! read more

I had my daughter here and also gall bladder removal surgery. All the doctors and nurses I encountered were very nice. The birthing room was nice and the food was surprisingly good. They even have a room menu that you can order from. The rooms in ambulatory surgery leave A LOT to be desired. It was my first surgery and the rooms were scary. They looked like they haven't been remodeled in 30 years. It looked like holes were patched up with plaster and was like a jail cell. Thankfully the surgical waiting area before surgery and the surgery room itself look practically brand new. I felt much more secure after I was out of the creepy jail cell room. The lab area is nice in the hospital and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Overall it's a nice hospital. read more

After making two visits to Northern Dutchess Hospital I thought for a last resort I'd go to Columbia Memorial. It wasn't always so clean, or thorough. I was told that the bang to my leg was arthritis in Northern Dutchess. When I got to CMH they immediately did x-rays and blood work and I had a bad case of cellulitous from the injury. I was hospitalized for three days and then sent home with antibiotics. Dr. Kogan was very nice, as was Dr. Rami. The room was way back in decor, but at least it had a private shower. read more

Great urology specialists and kind staff! Unfortunately the hospital is lacking in many other aspects such as cleanliness and baby changing stations (none in main entrance bathroom). The ER Department is also lacking. Cuts and scrapes were not cleaned after an ambulance ride following a car accident. My child was not even checked because he was able to nurse. Several X-rays were done and at one point the protective apron was forgotten. Only rating 3 stars due to the WONDERFUL urology specialists that we frequently deal with. Horrible experience. I went to the er with chest pain so bad I couldn't even drive my car. The doctor came in and lost his shit because I had my mask on my chin instead of on all the way. I was sitting alone in the room. He did not care at all about me or what I was going through and immediately become combative like I was his enemy because I didn't have my mask all the way on. Like I said I was alone in the room and fully vaccinated. I honestly feel like his behavior will lead to malpractice and death. He shouldn't be around patients and honestly I would recommend going to any other facility within a few hours. I had to spend 4 days at Colombia Memorial - ER, ICU and admitted to a private room. I live in NYC but was on vacation when I needed emergency surgery. I had a terrible experience at CMH Bone and Joint. I went there for hip replacement surgery last January and ended up with a fractured pelvis and facing further traumatic surgery. I was told the surgery "went well." They did not realize they had fractured my pelvis during surgery. I spent the next 5 months in agony while they lost interest in trying to diagnose my problem refusing to believe that it could have been a complication of their surgery. I finally got tired of their lack of interest and went for a second opinion I was really discouraged from doing this by CMH but did it anyway. The doctor I saw in New York City, a specialist in failed hip surgery, had me diagnosed in 20 minutes, just by taking an X-ray from a different angle. The discontinuity fracture was clearly visible and as a result the hip prosthetic had loosened so now I need surgery to repair the fracture and replace the hip. read more

I'm in the ER writing this. Came in with sharp abdominal pain. Thought it was coronary. ER Dr asked a few questions, left the room, not to be seen again. CT scan administered. Back to ER because no beds available. Hours go by. "You're not having a heart attack" would have been comforting. Nothing. Finally another Dr comes by and says the intestine shows blockage. I could not understand him and no, I'm not racist. I'm sure his Hindi is better than my English, but I only speak English. And couldn't understand him. No prognosis, no treatment plan. It's now 5 hours here, so I make for the door. Fortunately, a nurse explains I have a small bowel obstruction, no food or water, need to stay overnight for observation, surgery likely unnecessary. Bottom line: poor (or no) communication, inattentive staff. If I had my own car, I'd leave. But don't want to awaken my wife at 3am to drive 40 miles back to pick me up. Advice: don't take ill in Columbia county. read more
