They came in with a mini lift, and cut all of those huge branches in only a few hours. That was very impressive. They cleaned up afterwards and put everything where it was. Columbia Tree was recommended to me by a company repairing my deer fence. They recommended we do extensive tree pruning and removal to prevent future damage. We weren't sure they would come out to Fairfax County Virginia, I called them and couldn't be happier that I did! Chuck came out and gave us a fair estimate, then showed up as promised and did an outstanding job. There was a lot of work to be done including removing several dead or dying trees and pruning other mature (ie large) ones. I was most impressed by how each member of the crew had specific tasks and went about his work efficiently. As they worked they cleaned up everything and before leaving cleaned our entire yard! I had an appointment scheduled for 1-3pm on a Saturday. At 3 pm I called into Columbia Tree & Lawn Service to check to see why no one showed up. I was given "Chuck's" direct cell phone number. I left him a VM message just asking for a status update. He returned the phone call to let me know he was in Silver Springs and would be to my place (in Columbia) in about 30 mins. At 4pm i left Chuck a text saying to give me a call b.c i was working in the basement and wouldn't be able to hear the doorbell. I received a texted response that said "been there done that and have moved on". So apparently he showed up but didn't lift a finger to call me. He later said that " I should have let him know earlier", I replied "since we're talking about should haves, maybe it would have been nice to have shown up during the appointment window OR maybe even alerted me to the fact that you weren't going to make the scheduled appointment time. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. I have alerted neighbors and the OWEN BROWN community about this. I cant speak to their quality of work , but i can speak to the lack or respect, audacity and absence professionalism. I also had several deep surface roots they ground down as well. Spent all day ensuring thorough job and exceeded my expectations. This was the worst customer service I have ever received from any provider at my house ever. I am in Columbia Maryland and have 4 old large trees in my yard all of which need trimming of dead wood and care. Provider arrived and looked at them without telling me that he was there, then knocked on my door and asked what I wanted. I told him that I knew my dead wood needed trimming back but was looking to do it in the spring after I see if there is further die back from winter. I was looking for fertilizing all now, and to safely put up a tree swing for my kids. I DID want any dead wood above a proposed swing cut out, but he didn't even give me a chance to talk to him about that - he decided that I was stupid and wanting him to do something that was high liability and so he lectured me for a minute without letting me respond - then said "I am out!" and turned his back on me and walked to his car and left without a further word. I felt attacked, judged and demeaned. I am a reasonable person who appreciates liability and risk, and would never ask any professional to do something unprofessional or that would pose a risk to them or my family. I did my research and learned what I could about swings and tree health and how to protect my trees from damage while creating a reasonable swing for my kids. I was looking for guidance, assistance and understanding of myself and the way my family uses our yard. What I got from this provider was awful, quick to judge and rude beyond belief. If he though I was misguided, that is fine, he is the professional and is welcome to educate me, but he choose to jump to conclusions and be rude, unprofessional and down right mean. I would not only not hire them I will be actively telling people to avoid them at all costs. read more

I've been using Chuck for 8 years to drop trees and grind stumps. He always comes out the Saturday right after we call to give a free estimate. He shows up with his crew on the appointed time and does exactly what he quotes to you. I find his prices to be fair for the work that he does. He's always on-site when the work is being done too. I've recommended him to friends of ours, and he's my first and only call when I need tree services. As a side note, he might be one of the funniest dudes I've ever met. read more

Worse tree trim job ever. Call to have the dead branches cut out of the tree where my daughter lives. Chuck the owner said he new what I wanted done. When they came to cut the dead branches they said what I wanted done was not written down. I was not happy an called they came back second time but still did not get dead branches. Now when the wind blows dead branches are falling. This was a total waste of money. read more
