Hometown Tree Experts cut six large trees and trim a big one in our backyard recently. They did an excellent job. Their team work, expertise and efficiency in cutting down and trimming trees was evident in the high-quality work they did. Not only did they do excellent job in cutting and trimming, but they also left the area clean and tidy by clearing away all the cut branches and grinding the stumps perfectly. They also added top soil, seeds and straws. Fly by night operation. My neighbor had work done in her yard. Hometown unilaterally decided to trim a tree in my yard because they deemed it too close to my neighbor's shed...DESPITE my neighbor EXPLICITLY telling them not to. In order to trim said tree, they also trespassed on my property to access the tree. The result was a very ugly, stumpy, lopsided tree on my property. It was so bad that I had to have it removed completely. Hometown said they would do this for free...well guess what...they never showed up and I finally had to have it removed by someone else. Now trying to get them to remunerate me for the situation they created, and they are refusing to do so. They will not put me in contact with the owners, and are no longer responding to communications. I have a feeling this is going to end up in court. STAY AWAY - FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER! read more

We had Hometown Tree Experts remove two large oak trees in our backyard and a large spruce tree from our front yard. We had multiple quotes, and they were the least expensive (by thousands of dollars for most of the other quotes we had). Not only that, their office staff were the most friendly of any tree company I've worked with. Two of the companies that gave us quotes told us they would need to bring a crane in, and Hometown did it without a crane and with incredible speed (they did the entire job in under 6 hours). Not only that, they managed to take down the massive oak trees while not damaging the trampoline, play structure, and garden, all of which were very close by. They also were just overall very friendly, and left the yard cleaner than it was when they got there. Used them for the first time recently, as they were highly recommended on our neighborhood FB page as doing a great job and for being very reasonable cost wise. Ultimately we were underwhelmed by their performance. Had them out a second time, as the job wasn't completed the first time. We found their prices high, which we wouldn't have minded paying if they had done/trimmed more. Had difficulty hearing back from the project manager assigned to our job, although the receptionist was great both on the phone and via email. But we would not use them again. read more

Wow! No response in 3 days? What kind of service is this? I should have read reviews before hiring you. When my neighbors ask who trimmed my tree I will definitely tell them not to use you. In fact, my next-door neighbor was asking and needs tree trimming work done. I am going to tell them that they should hire someone else. You didn't review any details with me, just showed up and cut only what you wanted to cut, which was NOT what we discussed when Greg was here to give an estimate. I know I will need trees trimmed again and I'm keeping your number so I will know who NOT to call! Now you want to charge me an additional $250 to trim one branch that will be hitting my neighbor's house by next year. That should have been part of the initial price and it was pointed out during the walkthrough with Greg. read more

Update: After filing a claim with the BBB, and social media reviews, Hometown finally has paid Verizon as of 1/30/19...nearly 9 & 1/2 months later. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Service was fine, but the office staff are rude and completely unorganized. We had them remove trees in April of 2018. They lost our deposit check after they said they had it, then kept telling us they never got it, but to keep checking our bank account to see if the check got cashed. After several attempts to correct our address and name, never happened. Since they failed to fix our address, Miss Utility (per our contract, they call), never came to our home, and the house they sent them to doesn't exist. Yet Hometown somewhere had our correct address because both times they came to our property, they came to the right spot. All that caused our Verizon line to be damaged. After trying to call their office to notify them, I was told several times that the person I needed to talk to wasn't in the office and they'd call me back. Never happened. I had to call Verizon to fix the line and Verizon concluded that it was from their doing that the line was damaged/missing. Hometown claimed fault for the line and apparently have sent several checks to Verizon that have never been received. Hometown claims the post office probably dumped the check on the curb????? Now when I call and Verizon calls, hometown either doesn't answer or hangs up when we say who we are. Super unprofessional. We would never use them again just because of the disaster that's in the front office. read more

I was extremely pleased with Hometown Tree Experts professionalism, coming in with a very competitive bid, and their overall efficiency. You couldn't ask for a better group. I would use them hands down over the rest anyday. Thanks for coming out and removing our very large tree, on time, and with a very reasonable bid. Oh, and did I mention they are also licensed and insured? Yes, very important fact to consider when hiring people for large scale projects that could result in property damage. True professionals. Hometown removed trees and stumps as well as planted 7 large Green Giant trees in the fall 2018. Customer service was efficient and polite, providing followup along the process.
