My wife had flagged the Columbus Botanical Gardens as a possible stop on our overnight visit to Columbus. We didn't make it there on our first day, but we opted to stop by on the Sunday morning before we drove home. A 'botanical garden' can span a wide spectrum of things, some more interesting than others. Unless you are very plant-centric, there is probably an upper threshold of interest that any botanical garden can generate. I'm not saying that critically; think of it in the context of 'would you rather visit a museum or a garden?'. Depending on your answer, you may be more or less interested in your average botanical garden... This one is located 5 - 6 miles north of downtown. There appeared to be ample parking, plus an overflow lot that was not in use when we visited. They have some central gardens (sort of zen-lite) and a walking trail through the woods. This intersects with a camellia trail, which was nice. It also intersects with a 'wetlands' trail, which (as the name suggests) appeared mostly soggy. There is a sort of farmhouse near the parking lot which belonged to the original landowners who donated it to the community. If you are just looking for a nice 30-minute diversion of walking among plants, this is fine. It was a nice walk. It is also free. I'm not sure I'd need to return here, but I'm glad we stopped in. read more

DELIGHTFUL!! A wonderful place to visit in the heart of Columbus. Though close to eating and shopping (within 10 minutes) this little garden is so tranquil and sweet. The grounds are immaculate. Large cascading water features, shaded areas and wonderful walking trails make this a special place to meet for a stroll or to bask in a mediation. The trails are well planned and easily accessible. They wind around a camellia grove, bursting with beautiful blooms. Benches, wind chimes and other hardscape features add to the beauty. The historic home is open to tour. It is used mostly a banquet or venue space. Very nice for a wedding location. Check out the barns and vegetable gardens. Even though I flower farm I still found new things to learn. Displays were great. Small, ample parking lot. Donations are appreciated. FREE! read more

This has been the most disappointing and heartbreaking experience with Columbus Botanical Garden. The customer service stopped once the check was signed. Due to their lack of professionalism and negligence, I made the decision to cancel our wedding venue. At the time, it felt right. It was local with hotel accommodations right around the corner for our out of town family. The employees made things seem magical during the event. I had questions and concerns and no one would get back with me the month of March. Not until mid April, I received somewhat of an answer. I understand there's a contract but there's a big difference between right and wrong. This is 9 months prior to a highly sought out date - which can be filled by other guests. This is truly a learning experience for me. Dan and I gave them $4,100 total. They have lied to me. They have sent me to voicemail. And they refuse to budge based on their actions. If it's a wedding, baby shower, birthday party, or family reunion, I highly recommend finding better customer service, more empathy, and more compassion elsewhere. Regardless of "space". Find good people to spend your hard earned money on. Don't waste your money like I did. read more

They had an event all about planting I was so excited to go since I'm a beginner planter -I arrived 30 mins early just to get turned back around - they told me it was sold out but on the website there was nowhere to reserve a spot or anything saying first come first serve all I wanted to do was to get informed about planting since it's almost spring read more

The lay out was magnificent, bright colors and a magical essence. The entire atmosphere was captivating and sent a burst of Zen upon arrival. The layout was gorgeous and very well kept grounds. I admired so many beautiful water fountains as well as their benches throughout to stop and gaze upon all of the incredible scenery. Anytime I need to escape the hustle and bustle of daily living this is where I will go to enjoy the Botanical Garden. read more

I would definitely not call this a botanical garden. If anything it's an arboretum. I didn't think it was worth the 10$ they charge.

We came off-season in early March meaning none of the flowers were really in bloom. But, the trail through the woods was peaceful and featured many fountains and displays that were very scenic and great for photographs read more

Go placidly among the noise and haste and know what peace there is in silence. Such a beautiful spot with meditative areas to sit and ponder - loved the bird song, the camellias, the winding paths. It was a calming, serene place to visit on a lovely spring day. read more

What can I say but at Hidden Treasure this city has . I had the opportunity to usethe garden as a meeting place for my daughter and I.I am so glad I did My dauggter asked me to get out of the car and walk some of the trials which I did We took the long path coming out of the long path we saw a gentleman watering some roses he happened to be on the board of directors he answered all our questions and my daughter is going to volunteering hopefully soon can't wait to be part of helping to continue this wonderful opportunity for people to come and see nature at its finest read more

I discovered the Columbus Botanical Garden in 2006, shortly after moving to Columbus. I've had ample opportunity to watch this garden grow! Though it is comprised of 23 acres, much of it is woodsy and undeveloped. 12 years ago the Cottage Gardens, 4 acres around the Farm House, were just being planted. Next a 1 mile walking trail was carved through the woods, truly a nature trail. Nestled in the middle of this trail is an extensive Camellia Garden, which has since been added to the collection of the American Camellia Trail Gardens. Most recently the Vegetable Terraces and Rose Garden have been completed. There is much more in store! This garden is a lovely space for weddings, parties and family reunions, with a friendly staff to help you plan your event. Thoughout the year there are plants sales, festivals, educational programs for adults and children. Every day is a great day to come out to enjoy this serene haven. Bring a picnic, bring your children, bring a friend! I see the happiness of other visitors every time I visit this lovely green space! read more

This was a terrible venue! While the house and scenery is beautiful, the staff not so much. I had to chase down the director to pay for extra time at the venue and I also had to chase her down to get our deposit! I called 4 days in a row and left 4 messages and finally my Husband got in touch with them only to find out it would be 30-60 days! The coordinator with Botanical Gardens said that she would be there all day and she only popped in around 4:30 and I never saw her again. She also said that there would be one prom shoot on the property but it would not be anywhere near us. There were people taking prom pictures everywhere! Security was awful! He hovered and harassed my guests and shined flash lights in their faces to make sure they were not smoking cigarettes. He closed 2 bathrooms 2 hours early, he harassed me about food and beer in the kitchen 3 hours before we had to leave the venue, he told my friend that he could smoke pot but he couldn't smoke cigarettes (promoting illegal activity...really???), and then he threatened us with our deposit by saying "If I find ONE cigarette butt you are not getting your $550 deposit back!" Everyone was calling him "Hitler" all night! He was so worried about things that did not matter, that he did not care that a man with a dog and a stroller walked right in front of our ceremony minutes before it started, or that there were teenagers taking pictures on the front porch of the house while my husband and I were taking pictures for our first look. He was awful! He also hovered while we cleaned and I finally had to tell him to leave us alone! We followed all of their rules and yet this is the service that we got in return! I am more than disappointed and I would not recommend this venue to anyone! read more
