Why an institution? First... note the date that it was founded and second, not just anyone can join. Enough said. My family (in-laws) have been members for a very long time and thus I have eaten here many many times over the years. If you know someone who is a member, this is a wonderful place for a dinner or a party. The building is completely unassuming from the exterior but once you walk in to the main parlor the Worcester Club's interior is a stately example of how fine Victorian architecture was back in the day. We had my wife's 40th birthday here over the weekend and there were 9 of us. Of course, we had our own private dining room which is pretty standard for group of that size and larger. The food is excellent, but being not overly hungry I had a simple salad and winter vegetable and spinach risotto. However, there were little necks, oysters, shrimp and other apps being devoured at the table. Dinner plates varied from lamb to sirloin to seafood specials. They even made an off menu plate for my 5 year old. Everything was plated well and appreciated for what it was. We tend to only dine here for special occasions and will be back as soon as another get together is needed. As always, thank you to our host Richard and thank you to the WC.

I think the chef is one of those people, because I had the muscles today and it was so salt forward. I mean it was dangerously full salt, but I was so hungry that I ate it anyway and then I told the waitress I said I should not even complain because I ate the dish however they should watch out for the salt. She said it's one of the most popular dishes and people like it that way . The restaurant decided to be gracious enough and swap that off of my order and let me get something else instead, but I was already full, so I took home a salad. Hours later, I figured it would be nice to have something refreshing after all that salt. I'm eating the salad and something crunchy and it's not the normal crunch. So I decide to like look into the lettuce and I see dirt. Especially now with everything going on around lettuce I am beyond shocked. I tried to call the restaurant granted it was dinner time but no answer so I called the sister company in another city and they said they would have the manager reach out to me which never happened . What surprised me as well as the manager from the sister location said he finds this surprising because the lettuce comes in triple washed, and they wash it themselves. All I could say to that is maybe open up the lettuce leaves and rinse them or open your eyes. So I'm putting it out there, I would like my money back, but since you can't answer the phone or own up to any responsibility, I'm leaving this message for you because I get a lot of hits on my reviews and I'm gonna tell people do not eat at this place unless your taste buds are completely dead and you just need salt and dirt survive. There is 50 lanes but on league nights it can get so busy that there on no lanes available. For league, they oil the lanes beforehand but if you come during normal times the oil pattern varies greatly. There are a bunch of good food options that aren't exorbitant like the chicken tender meal or the pizza pitcher soda combo. Food does take a little bit but you shouldn't notice it if you're having fun. Staff is no nonsense with a little bit of don't care but they still do their job pretty well.
