I am a Crew fan and have been for years. We mostly watch games on AppleTV because we live a distance from Lower.com. The season ticket department sent out a email blast about a new section they were opening and to place a deposit to get the first opportunity to pick seats. I bit, and figured I'd think it over to see if we even wanted season tickets and to learn about the pricing. It was a $1,000 deposit. After hearing the price was approximately $18,000, and considering our likely use of the tickets, we decided to pass. I contacted our sales rep and he informed us that it was a non- refundable deposit. I was not aware of that at the time I placed the deposit. He said that was their policy and I could pound salt. At no time when making the deposit did it say it was non-refundable. I asked him for the person in-charge of this decision and he declined to give me any names. He said I could send an email to the general ticket office, but he asured me they would tell me "too bad". I looked at the email blast they had sent and the only place it said non- refundable deposit was at the very bottom of the email. It was a long salesy email. My bad for logically thinking a deposit is something you place and if you don't move forward they refund the amount. My opinion of the sales office is that they are a bunch of slick talking snake salesmen, with no concious of doing business with any ethics what-so-ever. read more

Congratulations to the reigning 2020 MLS Cup champions, Columbus Crew SC. The Black & Gold were the latest to win the league title when they defeated the Seattle Sounders, 3-0, at home on December 12, 2020. It was the third MLS Cup Final hosted by Columbus' Mapfre Stadium. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only about 1,500 attended the game. The stadium's current capacity for soccer games is 19,968. A new Columbus Crew stadium is currently under construction and nearing completion. Mapfre Stadium will eventually be converted into the team's training facility. In 2020, Columbus was led offensively by the trio of American forward Gyasi Zardes (15 goals), Portuguese midfielder Pedro Santos (8), and Argentine midfielder Lucas Zelarayan (8). No more than a year after signing with Columbus did Zelarayan earn the MLS Newcomer of the Year and MLS Cup MVP 2020 awards. In the championship match, he scored two goals and assisted on the other. The 2020 Cup was actually Columbus' second championship. They won their first in 2008. Then, they were led by another Argentine, forward Guillermo Barros Schelotto. Schelotto was both MLS regular season and Cup MVP that season. Presently, the Crew are one of only seven MLS teams to have won the Cup more than once -- fairly rarefied air. In addition to winning two Cups, the team also has three Supporters' Shields (best regular season record). Only two teams have more Shields: DC United and the LA Galaxy. It's safe to say the Crew have been one of the better-performing teams in MLS history to date. The Crew are one of MLS' founding members. They were one of the 10 original teams to play in the league's inaugural season in 1996. Mapfre Stadium, then known as Columbus Crew Stadium, didn't open until 1999 so the Crew first played games at Ohio Stadium, home of the Ohio State University Buckeyes college football team. If you get axed from this team, then are you Crew Cut? This is the Columbus Crew. There is only one. But there can be only one. There was almost zero instead of one, but Columbus were able to keep their team and the thieves of Austin got their own startup team instead. This is one of the best teams in MLS, on many levels, and has been around for a very long time. Full of tradition and one of the heartbeats of the league and the city too. They play in beautiful yellow, and they built themselves around Brian McBride, the first pick of the first season of MLS. I've seen them play live and in-person a number of times, such as the time I yelled abuse at Kyle Martino who grew from that and became a travel show dude and a football analyst lol. They are the heart and soul of Columbus in many ways, sports wise, you could argue, I do. Other people would say that would be OSU. They have their own stadium and it's close to downtown right off of Highway and they're really amazing to watch. They're trying to build a new one apparently... I kinda like the current one. In Columbus, this stadium was one of the first that was built just for the MLS team in the league, and in the country for soccer specifically, and it's beautiful and memorable, right off the highway between COL and CLE. They almost lost their team recently, but the fans managed to keep the team around, and long may that continue. They are now the MLS Champs for only the second time, and it is very very much deserved after everything they've been through. And damn what a miracle worker Caleb Porter turned out to be right? The MLS Whisperer really... both here and in the P-Landia. *** My previous review said: All the players have Crew cuts, and wear Crew socks. So if you want to get on a bus... get on the Columbus. One of my favorite teams in Major League Soccer is the Crew. One of the brightest and most lovable, and one of the original teams, and part of the heartbeat of Columbus. It's a big city that deserves its own sports teams but because of Ohio State University it's usually overlooked for major leagues. But when they were given a soccer team they've been nothing but supportive to them and created an amazing fan movement to keep them here and stop the moving to Austin, for financial gain. The Columbus Crew won the MLS in 2020. This year they moved into their new stadium, "Lower,com Field. The stadium holds about 20,000 fans. The stadium has 2,000 club seats, 10 field suites, a VIP entrance, 33 premium suites, 3,000 Nordecke seats for very into to it fans. My daughter was able to get access to the premium Huntington Field Club. Other premium seats can be found in River Club and Rail Club. The Huntington Club has field access, bar area, TV screens to watch the game, as well as, field access and views. The seats were very comfortable. Food choices can be found distributed on the concourse with the highlights being local food and alcohol vendors. The Gemut Beirgarten, Crafted Culture Brewing and The Pub Restaurant standout for serving alcohol. Eating venues include locals as well. Hot Chicken Takeout which was excellent. Other local choices were Schmidt's, Barnos Tacos, Dirty Franks, Donatos Pizza, Des Hermanos, Preston's Burger Joint and Legacy Steakhouse. What makes the experience great are the views of the field, the intimacy of a relatively small modern stadium, and the really great Columbus Crew fans. Been going to games and buying merch since 96. For the 1st time ever I had a truly bad experience at the season opener. A whole series of events occurred that caused us to have a horrible time and miss much of the match. If it was just me I wouldn't care, but my 9 year old was devastated. I emailed them, no response. My wife emailed them, no response. You've been duped Columbus, Haslam and this team dont give a crap about the fans at all. I was known as the "Crew guy" at work. WOOOOOOOOO, Go Crew! Ok, so I was surprised they were on here, I was originally searching for the stadium but this is what came up first, so I figured it's worth a review! I inherited this team by marrying into it. :P I've never really been a soccor fan, but I must say... this team is very entertaining! They're pretty good and always put up a fight!!! Their stadium is also pretty fun! Not too hard to navigate getting in and just being able to enjoy the game, which I attribute to the culture of the team's fanbase and the overall dynamic of the team and their fans. I went to my first professional soccer match at the inaugural game for the Columbus Crew Soccer Club in their new stadium. It was better than I ever could have expected. First, the energy of the fans was infectious. The Crew gave out flags which I was happy about since I didn't have any Crew gear to wear (last minute decision to go). We got our flags then went to The Pub and got a great seat for people watching. The only unfortunate part was there was no red wine to be had in the whole place, but that's an easy fix. We wandered around the stadium. It's beautiful and has many dining choices. Our choice was the gyro food truck on the front courtyard where the band was playing (they opened the gates at 3:30 for a 5:00 match so there was plenty of time to take in the other entertainment). We made our way to our seats and they were great, although from what I could see there probably isn't a bad seat in the house. The game was so much fun! I knew soccer had a quick pace, but to see it in person (and such a great team) made all the difference. It ended in a tie which I thought had to be broken. I was kind of disappointed when my husband said they don't have tie-breakers anymore. My husband of almost 8 years has always introduced me to fun things. This was just another example and I am a forever fan. We will definitely be getting more tickets! read more

I love soccer and our Columbus Crew. The parking isn't that bad, which is helpful and somewhat surprising. We've never experienced any difficulty. The greeters and ticket takers are super friendly and helpful, and seemed to help wherever the need. The stadium however; is tricky to maneuver around as not every section is connected; if you have a power wheelchair this is where things become problematic. The disabled seating is doable but there is no additional seating for your family to sit with you. Now I'm sure sitting elsewhere is not a problem. The person who ended up helping us was apologetic, helpful and got a chair for us fairly quickly. The staff is the only reason I'm giving a 4 Star not a 1 Star for the lack of planning for those who are disabled. The stadium is labeled but not clearly. The location of the elevator is not clearly marked as well as the seating in the disabled area. In conclusion I Love the Columbus Crew & want them to stay here. The fun Columbus Crew Fan Zone is terrific and I've never seen such dedicated and serious fans! They are very entertaining! The event staff are an amazing group of people and they were helpful in making our time there a better experience then it could have been. The stadium isn't the best for those in wheelchairs, which needs to be addressed. Perhaps at the front gate have a staff member escort the person/ families with wheelchairs to the elevator all the way to the designated disabled seating to help with additional chairs. read more

The most successful team in town last season actually plays football with their feet. This may be blasphemy, but the Columbus Crew are the only champions of any sort to come out of Columbus in 2008. (But don't worry - I still love you the most, Buckeyes!) The team played great all season and was really a blast to watch. The team's defense was its backbone all season long, but the goal scoring came in droves and really caused a ton of excitement. You may have come out for a few games this season against LA with the hopes of seeing a world class talent like Beckham. More than likely when you left you realized that the Crew was gifted with several world class talents. From the captain Frankie Hejduk, who plays for the US National Team, to Guillermo Schelotto, who is destined to play for the Argentinian National Team. Columbus has a great chance to come back and repeat again next year. Unfortunately, our championship winning coach Sigi Schmid has left the team. He did a great job bringing together some of the veterans with the amazing cast of young talents. Now that the team is weathered, hopefully Robert Warzycha of Poland can continue the success. There is reason to be excited about Warzycha. He has been with the Columbus Crew since the very beginning. He joined the team in the inaugural season and scored 19 goals in his 7 seasons as a player. Warzycha still holds the team record for assists with 61. He has spent his time since retiring as a player as an Assistant Coach with the Crew, and his time is now. I'm not the biggest soccer fan, but I do enjoy it now and then as I used to play when I was younger. And there's nothing like sporting your black and gold to a rowdy soccer game with lots and lots of beer. read more

Columbus Crew, what would we do without our futbol? Without our Crew--seemingly ready to fly by way to Austin but hanging around maybe one more year like a divorcee that takes too long to leave the house--leaving us with half the pro team? Without summers night of fairground spirit and hours of a ball being kicked around, and kicked around, and kicked . . . a . . . roun. . . d. . . zzz. . ? As you may tell, I am not a fan of soccer. An upstart game that came to prominence during my lifetime whence before it ranked somewhere between lacrosse and croquet, its meteoric rise stikes me immensely annoying. ( My nephews seem to play the game every season. How can that be?) But I have been to Crew games and I did have fun with the kicking (which friends instruct me about footwork whatever); the visiting weirdos pounding on drums, chanting and dancing the entire game; and the possibility that there might actually be a point scored. Oh it's not bad, with easy parking, great concessions, and among fan raved for the game it can be infectious. So in-spite of my caustic snark I had enough of a good time at my handful of match to give it solid three star, a-ok, a good rating. What makes it four? A sense of civic pride. The four is for the team snd fathful fans not for the owner. As we know, the sneaky snake has gotten one over on our foolish politicians and is now planning a move to Texas. Though resistance is being raised by legal, corporate, and fan groups success looks doubtful. And like a good citizen I feel called fo fight for countrymen I have little affinity. One of the two of our professional teams is on the block via our Art Model. So now count me as a fan. #savethecrew read more

If I could do less then one star I would went to the first game in the new stadium last night sat in line 20 minutes before being told there computers where down and they cannot sell anything so I go back to my sits and wait untill half and go back out then to try again at that point I see them giving out free beers bec there computers aren't working watch them give 20 people on front of me beers and food and sat in line for another 30 minutes just to be told once I finally get up there that they once again can't sell me anything and they are also done giving out beers....... missed half the game for a beer I never got we also couldn't eat so yeah had a blast read more

Fun game, but they need to do something about parking. It costs $15, and we had to park way out by the railroad tracks. No one directed us, and we drove into a pothole puddle that was big enough to scrape the front end of my car against the ground. read more

If you don't belong to the giant Buckeyes football fanbase, fear not, because seeing The Crew at Crew Stadium is a fantastic way to spend a few hours. The ticket prices are reasonable, expect to pay $30/ticket for a decent seat. There really isn't a bad seat in the stadium, and visibility of the field is extremely good. The supporters section in the Nordecke really adds to the atmosphere, and keeps the crowd going throughout the entire game. It's also refreshing to watch a team that acknowledges and interacts with its fans during the game. It's not uncommon to see a player launch a jersey into the stands after a win. If you want to go to sporting event with competitive play and none of those annoying TV timeouts and constant stops in play, go, it's a great time. read more

I wish I would have seen that the Crew were on Yelp earlier because this review most likely would have been my first. I never got into sports when I was younger and for the most part still don't care about throwball (american football), baseball or basketball. But soccer is a WHOLE other story. Sadly I didn't discover my love for the game until the last World Cup but I am just thankful I found it. Since moving to Columbus almost 3 years ago I had been itching to go to Crew games but money and time never really allowed it until the 2009 season where I only missed a few home games. It is sad to me that most of Columbus/Ohio doesn't care about the Crew. They have top notch talent which goes to show why they are back to back supporter shield winners and 2008 MLS Cup Champions. What thrills me more than anything is the family we have in the Nordecke (The North Corner). Hundreds of people you don't know but all share one common love, the love of the game and the love of the team. Standing, cheering, chanting, heckling & hugging makes for an amazing Saturday (or any day). I don't know of many other pro sports teams that will take the jersey off their backs and toss it in the stands or grab a beer from a fan and drink it after an amazing game let alone go to rallies, graciously sign autographs. I have been counting down the days until I can step foot into Crew Stadium with my family and cheer on the Crew. 39 to go. I will end this wordy review with one thing. COLUMBUS TIL I DIE! read more

I have never felt more a part of a sports team family as I have with the Crew. I love that the players are accessible and make a point to interact with their fans. They sign autographs and pose for pictures after the game, and hold pep rallys at which fans can get up close and personal with their favorite players. I found the majority of them friendly and eager to meet their fans. A few of them have seemed less than thrilled, but I'll just chalk that up to better soccer than social skills. read more

I can't get excited about most sporting events, but I can get psyched for the Crew! Crew Stadium is such a fantastic venue. It's pretty intimate and every seat is really a good seat. The home team pride is awesome and really gets you pumped. I've been going as a guest of season tickets holders when I've been in town the past few years, but now that I'm a 'Lumbus resident, I might need to get season tickets myself. Tailgating in the lot beforehand is a must. Food and beer inside the stadium is "stadium" pricey, so load up before you go in. During half-time, you can hit "The Irish Pub" in the tent for some upscale brews and booze. Don't forget to visit the gift shop, to make sure you'll be doused in black & yellow at the next game! read more

My review is obviously going to be biased because I'm a crew fan, but no fears a 5 star experience awaits. If you are into drinking copious amounts of alcohol, foul language, and berating the opposing team (a good time!!!), then try to get tickets in the nordeke. If you are with your children or would just like to sit and enjoy the game then anywhere else in the stadium will suffice. I have been attending games for 4+ years, and whenever I bring a friend that doesn't like soccer or a friend who has never attended a crew game, they always have a great time. They also run some awesome promotions throughout the year, and I've heard the $1 beer/hotdog night is awesome. The only drawback is leaving the stadium after game, so plan ahead if waiting in traffic is not your thing. read more

It's the CREW! How can you NOT give them 5 stars??? (Especially with my husband watching over my shoulder?) I am a soccer convert - my grandpa was a soccer nut and I used to watch those games when visiting in Korea, but I've never been a huge sports fan. I love my Cubbies (Chicago born and bred, baby!) but that's pretty much it. Until I started dating my husband four years ago. It was pretty clear from the beginning that between his fanaticism and my job, if I didn't like watching soccer, I wasn't going to see him much. Thus another soccer fan was created. I love the Crew - it's just such a shame that the number of attendees for the games have dropped off so much. The games are so much fun, reasonably priced, and the team is great! Yeah yeah, they didn't do so well recently, but seriously, everyone has their ups and downs. We've met some Crew players from time to time and they've always been extremely personable and don't get too full of hot air. So get yourselves out there and go see a Crew game! My wife and I have been season ticket holders for almost three years now and there isn't anything like going to a good soccer game, with affordable ticket prices, and watching the best team in the country. My wife bought us season tickets to the Crew for my birthday when we moved to Columbus and now she wants to go to the games even more than I do. I am a minority in Columbus because I don't like sports. Probably a backlash from growing up Buckeye I continue to purposely ignore anything with a running clock. The Crew is my one exception to the no sports rule. I love going to these games. Their season is always good weather and the fans are rowdy without the mania that follows the Buckeyes. Crew Stadium is opened air and has some of the best dogs I have ever tried. I am not really sure about the rules of soccer but just watching these guys is great. Looking down to the sculpted field it appears to this sports hater like a choreographed ballet of motion. Fast paced as to keep my attention you can lose sight of the ball for minutes and have fun trying to find it. I have seen several " headers " and a move that looks to me like a slide. Did I also mention you get the chance to see Beckham bend it once a year? Cheap seats, beer, and fast paced action make the Crew my favorite Columbus sports team. read more
