This was not what I was expecting. From the beginning with the phone call they were professional. Most the other martial arts schools in the area I could not get in touch with over the phone. I was scheduled immediately for one of their intro classes. When I arrived I was greeted by the staff and they proceeded to give me a consultation to find out what my goals were. Then they gave me a tour of the facility which was incredible! I've never seen a martial arts school like this before, and I da originally envisioned something out of a kung fu movie... Everything was super clean, and they had plenty of space and equipment! The one on one intro was also done by a instructor, and they were very friendly and helpful... especially cause I have 2 left feet lol. I had my appointment at 6:30pm and the parking lot was packed, and i've never seen so many people taking martial arts. I was thoroughly impressed and signed up right after my intro. The prices were a little more than I expected but I can see why, and I rather pay for the quality instruction and facility. The consultant had disclosed all information with me about the policies and procedures and give me a copy of all the documents, and they even emailed it directly to me. It all started with Ninja Turtles and now were here!! My kids love everything about them and wanted to do what they did, so I decided that Martial Arts would be great for them. And so far they have been having a blast. I started out on a Groupon and ended up a full membership. At first things were a little confusing and it seemed like the gym was all over the place (with my Military background I like to keep things tight and organized and it seemed like nobody could answer nor communicate with me about what I had signed up for) THAT SOON CHANGED.!! They noticed my dislike to what was going on and soon being to make things better for me and my kids. And as I got to know everyone I became more comfortable and was able to approach the staff, coaches and masters with anything. I'M EXCITED that I got to the point I'm at now and most importantly my kids are happy with where they are at. The gym has a ton of space for the different classes and kids. This allows for different age groups to learn with there own age group. And last but certainly not least I love the fact that the kids are tested to see what they know and then rewarded for it. Where to begin? My son started here the summer of 2020. We had just moved back to the area and just wanted to get him involved in something so he could interact with kids since Covid had limited that. It is by far the best decision my husband and I have made with extracurricular activities for him. He loves it! The coach require them to be responsible and responsible. They push them without being over the top. The students get to participate in tournaments and I have to admit I didn't know what to expect but I think now I'm just as excited as he is for each one. Now, the business side of things...let me just say reading is fundamental! Just like any contract you must read it, so you know what you are getting, what is expected of you and what you can expect from them. Their is also a handbook that spells everything out. If you don't understand something Coach Colton and Ms. Kina are phenomenal at explaining things. If you are looking for somewhere for you child to go that will teach them life skills, hold them accountable, encourage them to be their best, then this is the place. I've been training martial arts since I was five years old. When I moved back to Columbus, finding a good martial arts school was at the top of my to-do list. The community I found at Columbus Martial Arts is unlike any martial arts school I have attended in the past.The classes and instructors are top notch, the facilities are clean and well-equiped, and the staff is very helpful and approachable. It is a true ego-free zone and is full of both students and staff members looking improve themselves and their training partners each day. I have been training at Columbus Martial Arts Academy since July 2013 and I can truly say that the community here is like a second family to me. I see lives change on a daily basis and I'm proud to be a part of it initially as a student and now as an instructor and permanent staff member. My experience with this Academy is far from the level of integrity, discipline and moral strength that a Martial Arts Schools should. The staff and leadership believe in one thing...Money....and sucking as much of it from the hard working men and women who make up this community as they can. This academy has you sign an iron clad contract of 2 or more years for an outrageous amount. If you are a parent with 2 children then you are going to be looking at paying 3 times more than any other school in the area. The coaching staff is by far the most inexperienced and least qualified in the area and their adult competition results are proof of the matter. They have no Qualified Instructors in neither Jiu Jitsu nor Muay Thai. If you are willing to pay several hundred dollars a month, become ill equip to defend yourself and have your children be around individuals who lack moral fiber, by all means this is the place for you. My family just joined 3 weeks ago and we are enjoying the classes. The staff is so professional, motivating, and very nice! My 4 and 7 year old and husband look forward to attending their classes. The 3 and 4 year old class is so cute to watch! I and the other parents are always smiling and laughing at the things the kids do while doing the different positions and relay races, they are having so much fun but they are always focused, disciplined, and respectful due to Coach Mike, he is awesome and a blessing to our family!!! The children really love him and he cares about all the children that attend the school. Coach Graham teaches my 7 year old and I love to hear him say alright are you ready to his class with a big smile!! he is a blessing as well! I was stationed down at fort benning for a year and was looking for a place to train. I came from another academy originally and didn't think that it would compare, but I was proven wrong. The environment is nothing like i've seen before. The students are extremely friendly and everyone strives to help each other not only ion martial arts but outside the community. The facility is amazing! they have lots of mats and equipment to train. They are very cleanly! They also have a full time staff that really follows up with all the students. I missed a couple weeks due to training in the field and they called me every week to check up on me. They also gave me a couple private lessons to catch up for the time I was gone.' I have to say that this is the best MMA Gym in Columbus, Georgia. I have checked out other gyms in Columbus, GA before signing up for classes at Fighters United and so far I am so glad that I made the right choice. Fighters United MMA offers different programs that are gear to kids and adults. Currently I am signed up for their Muay Thai class and I must admit that this class is very addicting. My wife is actually taking their Womens Only Kickboxing class and she always look forward to coming to this. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something different than just going to a regular gym. Great place to train. The staff is friendly and very professional. I've been attending this academy for over a year now and I wouldn't change where I workout for anything. The full time staff is always there to help and answer questions. Everyone is so very friendly and encouraging! The classes are led by amazing coaches who refuse to let you give up on your goals, no matter the set backs you encounter. I fully encourage women totry a Jiu Jitsu class. Not only is it a great workout, it is a great way to learn self defense as well as see what you are capable of! I also enjoy training in the Muay Thai class. I didn't worry about signing the contract after they went thoroughly through their cancellation policy which was amazing. Best instructors in town for Thai boxing and Jiu Jitsu! Price is comparable to most MMA around town. Biggest plus my son loves it! Before joining, my son was doing three times a week karate (cost more) and in a separate after school program. All the driving between picking up my son from the After School to take him to karate was very time consuming! COLUMBUS MMA does 5 days of instruction and an after school program with a 1 to 10 ratio combined to include school pick up. Very convenient and at a lower cost compared to paying separate - karate and After School. I've been at this gym for about 2 months now and it's been awesome! I attend both the Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class. The instructors are great from Master Cha, a world Muay Thai champion to Coach Simon who teaches BJJ. You will learn a lot from the instructors but be warned...you will most likely break a sweat even if you are the greatest athlete in the world! The tradeoff is that at the end of the night you will feel like a a hybrid between Tony Jaa and Brock Lesnar which is an outstanding feeling. The only thing I might add though is that the price might be a bit high especially if you attend both classes. There is also a sign up fee as well. This place is amazing! Our son is diagnosed with PDD which is an autism spectrum disorder. Our son has learned so much in such a short time. His diagnosis was never a problem with his coaches. They are patient and understanding with him; but still expect just as much from him as the other students and discipline him just as they do the others. He has thrived and LOVES learning new moves. And we LOVE watching him grow and learn in new ways. After a thorough search for the best quality martial arts school for my daughter, we chose Columbus Mixed Martial Arts Academy. This school goes far beyond the martial arts standard and I am continuously impressed by the coaches dedication to providing not only the best instruction, but also strong values and challenges to keep these kids engaged and having fun while doing so. I have been searching for a gym like this since I moved from Atlanta and I'm thrilled I found it! The women's only kickboxing classes are intense, well organized, and accommodate ladies of all fitness levels from beginner to advanced- everyone is challenged to push themselves and have fun. The staff were very welcoming and approachable. The instructors/masters are very skilled and motivate all students to do their best. As outined by others not a good place to enroll your child. Shady business practices, low quality instruction for the cost demanded. Your child will not benefit at all, zero consistency. I mean seriously does paying double the cost so your kid can get "better instruction " even sound right? A reputable school wouldn't pull some crap like that. Why should one have to pay more so a child can progress?? Seriously there are better schools in the area with better business practice.
