As it states, it is a sanctuary - a sacred place for meditation, quietness and reflection. There are about 90 stones throughout the sanctuary - sourced locally and placed between 1980 and 2005 - that are nearly 3.6 billion (!) years old. Wow. There is a pond area as well, filled with koi fish and other little creatures. Since we've had a long, harsh winter in the North East this year, not much had bloomed and the trees were still bare with lots of anticipating bursts of spring ahead. I did capture a few daffodils and flowers poking their way through some of the brush. The trails are easy, natural and inviting. We arrived fairly early in the AM on a Saturday, and snagged a parking spot. There is limited parking and by the time we were leaving, the spots were all full. I would think the earlier in the day one can come, the better it is all around. Upon leaving a realized there is also a little Resource Center and Gem Shop by the fountains, but we were on our way out and skipped exploring this. Plus I was on my way to (a very clean!) porter-potty (so thankful one was on site.) toilet paper & hand sanitizer, too! Just as an FYI Thoroughly enjoyed coming here and exploring this beautiful, simple space. I love that they're a sanctuary, a non-profit organization committed to preserving nature's beauty and diversity. My heart was happy. Thankful. Inspiring. Megalith Park is a simple but unique experience to check out if you're (somewhat) in the area. Its a very nice, well maintained park with plenty of Megaliths to admire and take pictures with. Its a relatively small and can be fully explored in 1-2 hours. But you could easily spend more time here on a nice day. Its a bit off the beaten path, but the curvy, mountainous roads make the drive there enjoyable. Its a great place for a date, family outing, or just some alone time. Great photo ops. read more

Columcille Megalith Park--aka The Land of Myth and Mystery--was a must-see recommendation from a local, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. This private, non-profit park spans over 20 acres on the slope of Blue Mountain and features more than 90 megalith settings, uncut stone structures, hardwood forests, vernal ponds, and sheltered dells. Each stone has its own character, inviting visitors to reflect, imagine, and create their own stories. I visited mid-day on a September Sunday, and despite it being a lovely day, I was lucky enough to snag one of the few free on-site parking spots. Admission is free (though there's a donation box to support the park), and from the moment I arrived, I was struck by the quiet majesty of the place--towering stone structures catching the sunlight, the soft rustle of wind through the trees, and the gentle footsteps of fellow visitors, all moving quietly and respectfully. As I wandered the trails, curiosity led me to a tiny, hidden treasure: a bead perched on one of the rock formations. Inside was a tiny scroll with a delicate message: "Be the rainbow in someone else's cloud." What a wonderfully placed reminder of the impact we have on each other--and of the importance of taking care of ourselves. Moments like that made the experience feel intentional, magical, and deeply personal. There's a calm intentionality here that's rare in modern life--no shouting kids, no barking dogs, no phone calls echoing through the trees--just the wind, the rustle of leaves, and the soft footsteps of others who, like me, were enchanted by the beauty around them. What a beautiful place to wander and ponder life's thoughts... just NOT on Memorial Day Weekend. The place was packed. In the brief moments we found a trail to ourselves I could just feel the peace envelop me. The whispering of the trees as the breeze blew though forces you to breath in deeply and clear your mind. A much needed respite in this crazy time we are living in. We meandered down a few of the trails but the crowd just kept getting bigger and the arthritic knee was unwilling for more. So we sucked up our last breath of tranquility and headed out. We will most definitely be back to explore more and recharge our spirits. read more

I was having my annual spooky trip with a friend, and we decided to line this up with a tour of the Camp Crystal Lake set (Camp Nobebosco) an abandoned village (Millbrook Village by the Delaware Water Gap). This is located on private property but opened as a Stonehenge of sorts for the Americas. Get your Outlander outfits ready, but don't slip on the hillside. It's a neat oddity, and I would probably check it out again if there's any seasonal change. It is hard to find, the GPS gets confused, so we had to follow other cars that we hoped were going the same way. read more

Beautiful, relaxing, & a wonderful place to spend time in nature. My husband and I visited for a birthday hike & loved it. There is a decent size pond with lots of Koi & goldfish in it. The stone structures and circles make you feel like you're in a fantasy land! Be aware that this is privately owned land & is not open for public picnic grilling or anything like that. Please be respectful and don't deface property, build your own stone structures, or leave garbage/food behind (there are no garbages). Apparently people have been doing this and management isn't happy. Please be mindful of this when you visit! read more

Went hiking with friends during a weekend trip...bring the bug spray. Wasn't too difficult to follow the trail around without a map though we only stayed a little over an hour and follow the respective trail markers. Easy to find parking if not crowded. There is a collection box for donations. As you walk around, you can see a house beyond the little pond, a mini version of Stonehenge (or at least what it looked like to us), the labryinth was interesting... best to wear sneakers as there are rocks on the ground as well. read more

Romantic place. A hard-to-follow map is available in the green building near the parking area. From the parking area, I walked through the heavy iron gated entrance, then turned left and walked towards the pond. The green building is to the left of the pond. I found Thor's Gate, the Chapel and some of the other locations marked on the map, but lack of signage prevented me from finding some of the other locations that I had been interested in visiting. When I say that the map is hard to follow, be aware that I am the map queen of most maps. Definitely wear appropriate footwear. The grounds are hilly and roots and stones protrude from the ground. Flip flops are not a good idea. Even my husband, who's married to his flip flops, agreed and changed into sneakers. Hidden gem. read more

This is not really a hiking spot. This is not a nature preserve. This is not an arboretum. This is also not a botanical garden. So then, what the hell is this place? Honestly I really don't know. Supposedly it is a meditative retreat based on Celtic spirituality which again means, what? There is a bell tower and a chapel and even something that is supposed to resemble a little Stonehenge. There were a few families walking but the overriding theme was that everyone seemed, like us, to be with their dogs just out for a nice Sunday stroll in the woods. There is a park map to look at when you get there and they also have one on their website but honestly this place isn't big enough that you need to worry about getting lost or that you won't see everything. This little area of preserved space is an interesting concept, and I loved the many art installations that can be found around every corner. Further more, there's odd little stone effigies to be found all along the walking trails, leaving you to wonder their meaning. That being said, this park is small, and you can see the vast majority of it in less than an hour. There are a number of walking paths, but I was able to complete about three of them in a very short amount of time. If you're looking for an activity to fill the day, you might want to look harder. I'd traveled almost two hours just to see the park, and while I'm happy I went, I do wish that perhaps the experience could have lasted a bit longer. If you're looking for wholesome local flavor in the Poconos and feel like a very easy and short hike, then this place might be for you. read more

An enjoyable walk for kiddos! I came with my kiddos all under 5 and it was a very easy walk with them. The path is circular so you won't get lost. There's picnic tables to sit to eat. It seems to be a "sacred" place for meditation and peace. read more

This is the only Megalith park in the USA that I know of. And it is truly beautiful! It's located in the middle of nowhere on a mountain. There's hardly anybody else there. It's completely free (though there are boxes for donations, if you desire). Dogs are allowed. There's a field with a small pond that includes some goldfish. You could have a picnic here. There are woods you can hike in. Everywhere you go - the field or the woods - there are stone sculptures, and each one is gorgeous. I felt like I was stepping inside a fairy tale. This is an ideal place to come for a peaceful moment. At the labyrinth, I put a small pebble on the center rock and I made a wish. I sure hope it comes true! read more

A wonderful calming atmosphere to walk around or just sit and refresh. They do ask for a donation now since so many people have been coming and leaving trash etc, such a shame. They do allow small picnics not huge family get-togethers with kids running all over the place. This is not a kiddie park! Many signs to stay off the rocks. This is a nice place to walk around. There's a lot of information about the doctor who created this free, private-but-open-to-the-public park on its website. We went on a rainy day but I felt it added to the ambiance of the park. There were people walking around and some having a sit down at the covered shelter. When we arrived, two boys had just came out of the bell tower, one complaining of pain because a rock fell on his leg. Sure enough, when we checked the bell tower, a heavy rock in the center had been toppled over. The adults they were with did not bother to do anything. Please be careful and watch your kids! There's a little guest house (Voyager's Lounge, I think it was called) and a port-a-potty to the left, by the pond. Inside the lounge, you can find copies of a map, stones of various sizes and shapes for sale, and reading material. There was a sign that encouraged reflection, writing and relaxation in the chairs provided. It was not manned but based on a code of honesty. Donations could be placed in a mail slot on a locked door inside. The map was decent. We didn't get too far along the inner walk as the trail seemed to start blending in with its surroundings. That being said, you won't get lost as most trails are easy to follow and eventually lead into one another. There is a road along one side if you walk too far from the trails. read more

It was our first time visiting and definitely won't be our last. We brought our dog, who had an amazing time as well. Read the board when you first walk in. It gives you some information and what they expect (it clearly states 'no picnics'.. and of course, we saw a couple setting up a picnic. Very rude of them). There is a box to leave donations if you wish to do so, which we did. The paths are well maintained and it's a very calming place. It would even be a nice place to visit alone. We went on a very hot Sunday and there were some people there, but it wasn't overly packed. If it were it wouldn't be as serene. We spent about 1 1/2 hrs there and covered all of the grounds. Look up information before going because the story behind this place is very interesting. read more

This is not a botanical garden, it's a place for contemplative mediation. Sounds boring, but oh my! A truly lovely place. Huge stones standing upright is what got our attention at first, but then... you'll discover a labyrinth, a temple, a koi pond. A privately owned park that is open to public it has walking paths that wind among stone sculptures. The park is "rooted in Celtic spirituality", as stated on website, but magical to all! read more

What a lovely place to slow down and reflect and enjoy nature. We thoroughly experienced this gem in the way intended, we took off our shoes and felt the moss on our feet, we sat on a platform and listened to the world...and a turkey walked by and was a happy omen ushering in Earth Day! Which is the day we went. The rocks are very intriguing, one must touch a few to feel their essence. We did bring a tick in the car, so good advice would be to check yourself afterwards and prepare. I am grateful for the people that maintain this wonderful park, please donate when you leave in their box! The only thing that was a tad annoying was the shooting range we heard the whole time. You really had to meditate hard to get that sound to not tick you off. Not sure if that is a regular thing or not since we were never there before. Also we couldn't get to the labyrinth, we thought it appeared to be on an adjacent property so we didn't attempt further. read more
