That all changed with my latest trip to the new DPS MEGA drivers license center! Not only was I able to hold my place in from a computer (just a few clicks and I was virtually waiting), but after I registered I immediately got a text saying my wait time was only about 5 minutes...not even enough time to drive to the physical location! With a simple text reply I was able to put myself back in queue via my phone. Once at the office, the process was smooth from beginning to end. A greeter showed me how to watch/listen for my number being called (last 4 of my cell number) and he also was helpful in finding the correct station once it was my turn. That may sound silly, but there are at least 50 manned stations working at once so I actually needed help finding #9. The representative was pleasant, worked quickly, and had me out of there in no-time. Weird to say, but this was actually an enjoyable experience! The one downfall is that you can't hold your place in line using their website on a smart phone - I had to initially register from my computer at home. After that, all is done through text until you get to the center. WAY TO GO STATE OF TEXAS & DPS!

I sat there for 30 minutes and they started to tell people coming in that they were no longer taking any more people and return on Tuesday. They are open on Monday. And they close at 5pm. I'm pretty sure our taxes goes to paying government employees. At 3pm, they finally called my number. It was a quick process from there. However they were having conversations in the open. A young man said, "what are we gong to do? Should we open it up?" The older larger women with short dark brown hair said, "no I live in San Antonio and I want to get home." The African American woman said, "no I want to get out of here before 5." It was 3pm and there were only two more people behind me. So as other people trickled in, they were forced to take them in. There were five employees standing around doing nothing as each citizen waits 2-5 hours! Taking time from their busy work life. And these lazy employees who receive a paycheck from our taxes, can't even do their job! I want the right to fire them. If I ran that department, I would fire these ladies and have the most efficient department making good use of tax payers money!
