I think the nice staff there were a bit doubtful that a ninety-year-old with no glasses and pushing a rollator would pass their tests, but they were all smiles and super courteous as I "wham-banged" my way through it all and walked out ready for another year or so of driving legally. My son is Mentally Challenge. When he was there he asked for help. No volunteers. Somebody just pointed register over there. He is not computer savvy. He does not have internet. Awesome experience!! I walked in with a friend to get a motorcycle endorsement modification to my license and she needed to change her name on her driver's license. We were greeted quickly and our information was taken down by the tall gentleman. We only waited a small amout of time and then were able to have our situations processed efficiently. Cannot thank the tall gentleman enough for helping us accomplish our objectives. We meant to bring you cookies but everything was closed in Boerne so we ended up and the wine bar. I had the best experience at this location. I've been a driver for 40+ yrs and I have to say the majority of my experiences have never been pleasant. Usually have a rude person at the door that is impatient, conflicting information on forms and items required and of course the LONG wait. Today was so different. I did not have an appointment so I presented as a walk-in about 7:30 and a polite gentleman, Jay, was outside providing insight in how to get a walk in appointment to all those gathered. He was able to help everyone present with patience and a sincere effort to make things easy. With Jay's help a was able to snag an 8:00 am and was out by 8:15. Beware, even though Texas DPS says all offices are supposed to allow a limited amount of walk-ins -- this office is actively discouraging ANY walk-ins insofar as contradicting requirements for DLs as stated on the Texas DPS website in order to give folks the run-around. Just don't want anyone else to make the drive and then essentially be told to go away, despite having all the documents as specified on Texas DPS website. read more

After experiencing such horrible customer service, I decided I must make this post. I was taking a friend to get her learners permit. She is an adult who has resided in Texas for 30 years. The dark skinned man in the chair nearest the front door was not only unhelpful, but he was horrifically, rude, discriminating, And humiliated us. We were able to take our documentation to another location and were kindly served and given the permit. There is no excuse for this man's behavior. read more

We had the friendliest gentleman working with us. He helped keep us calm before my 16 year olds driving test- made small talk, and made sure we had all paperwork we needed. He gave amazing advice and walked through lobby to make sure everyone knew if they were at the right place with the right documents before they sat there and wasted anytime. He helped people look up their appointments and told some how to make an appointment. The second gentlemen who did the driving test was a bit more business like and serious but also very very patient and professional and helpful. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this office is!! The staffs customer service is over the top, everyone is so nice and helpful! We even had a few hiccups with what we went in for and they walked us through it and sent us away to see if we could get required things and told us to let them know if we did so they could continue helping us! Small, easy to find, and no wait (if you arrive before it opens at 8 am)! Wifey and I were first in line and we're out of the office with our temporary driver licenses in less than 15 minutes. True staffer was friendly and informative. She did say that the wait can exceed 4 hours, and thus recommends making an appointment in advance. Perhaps we got lucky! read more

I've been to plenty of DPS offices in my life and walked away frustrated. This is not the case here in Boerne. Although they are very busy, they are so on the ball. This is such a great DMV if you need stuff done immediately! Moved here and needed to get my licensed changed for work and residency and they got me in so fast! They open up same day appointments every morning on the website at 8am. Got one and drove up to Boerne and I was the only one there so they got me right in and I was done within 20 mins. I asked about walk-ins and she said that when it's dead they take walk ins. It's a smaller office so it seems like dead is more of a common occurrence than a rarity. I would strongly recommend trying this DMV for your immediate needs! read more

The DPS office in Boene, Tx. is one of the best I have ever gone to get a driver's license! The entire staff there is very professional but also friendly & very helpful. I wanted to transfer my Florida license to Texas & had some complications to handle. Carrie was wonderful & very patient as she helped me work through those issues. I was up until near midnight preparing all the paperwork for my son's license appt. Not one but 2 separate forms requiring notarized signatures or authorized officer. But of course their instructions don't say that they are the authorized officers so notary is unnecessary. $50 wasted. Seemed like 15 pages of docs required. Proof of residency, de 964 X2. Oh and the application we filled out 'has changed twice since he got his permit in January.' Been in Texas less than 3 years, oh forgot to mention we need your driving record for 3 year. Never mind that I showed them my record is perfect, I'm sorry we can't open your emailed record. These people have entirely forgotten what a driver's test is for...to assess if the teen is a safe driver or not by taking them on a test drive and assessing the teens skill. I warned my son in advance that despite our 4-5 hours preparing everything that these people are bean counters and one bean out of place and it's all for nothing. Too bad they couldn't see him drive. He's my third teen taught. None have any tickets or accidents thank God. This is the worst DMV and driver's license process I've seen and we've been through this in 3 states. Pretty tough to suck worse than California DMV but Texas DPS drivers license process sucks far more. read more
