The dental cost are comparable to any other dentist. The lobby is comfortable and front desks staff have always been friendly. The office is in a strip mall by HEB on FM 306. Although there is not a direct handicap access you can drive up a bit along side the curb drop off your passenger and they can use the sidewalk area that is graded to be even with the street making it accessible for those who need handicap access including motorized wheelchairs .

NP. 3 stars is due to the different dentist now. I had to ask what they would recommend. Maybe I should have just asked to whom they would refer me for periodontics. It was a very awkward conversation that didn't put me at ease. When I did receive my referral it is a generic form with no suggestions of providers in the area. I would think the company had a network of good periodontics practitioners. I informed front office I didn't desire to return if this dentist was the only one available. It did not surprise me that they can note that a customer won't return for a specific dentist. They will reach out to me prior to my next appointment. That is an indicator. I asked how long the last dentist had stayed that I had liked - 1 year, but moved due to long commute. I really liked the hygienist and shared if she goes anywhere, call me. Bait, Switch, and Rinse: A Dealership for Your Mouth…read more I came in for a standard cleaning, expecting a simple appointment. Instead, I got the dental equivalent of a used car sales pitch. Within two minutes of meeting the dentist, she tried to sell me Invisalign. They started with a battery of x-rays and a fancy 3D scan--before telling me I needed a $500 deep cleaning BEFORE they'd do the standard cleaning my insurance covers. When I hesitated, they magically offered it for $190. At that point, they'd already done so much diagnostic work that my insurance was on the hook for, I couldn't just walk out and go somewhere else for my standard cleaning. They had me over a barrel. Reluctantly, I agreed--only to be told, "Oh, we're going to lunch now. Come back in an hour." Sure, because everyone loves running errands for their dentist. I came back, and the so-called "deep cleaning" was finished in 35 minutes flat. Was that a deep cleaning?? But I still had to come back a month later for the standard cleaning that started this whole mess. Finally got that done today, and--surprise--it was as routine as I originally expected. Except they tried to charge me a second time after assuring me there wouldn't be any additional charges for the follow up appointment. They also tried to bill my insurance over $700 for extra services and only backed off after I called them out. This place operates like a shady dealership. They'll upsell you, waste your time, and try to sneak hidden fees past you. I 100% distrust them.

They DO NOT SCHEDULE FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENTS FOR SURGERY?!??!!???!!!! The lack of communication beforehand was so inconsistent...we were told that my husband would be FULLY ASLEEP AND KNOCKED OUT!! NOPE... he heard EVERYTHING!! the cranking, the cracking, the pulling EVERYTHING! The biggest red flag is that he didn't sleep after wisdom teeth surgery!! What a way to put a damper in the holidays. Not having a regular dentist here in New Braunfels, raised my pucker factor as well. Luckily, my daughter had a regular dentist, and the wife recommended Rivercrest Family Dental. The wife made me an appointment, with the soonest appointment being six days later. Thank goodness I was not in severe pain. I showed up on the day of my appointment about thirty minutes early. I was greeted upon entry and asked for my driver's license and had my photo taken for the file. I had filled the paperwork online the night prior, so no lengthy forms were required before I was seen. The nice lady behind the desk told me to have a seat and told me that it would be a while since I was very early. As promised, I was called back right at my appointment time and was placed in the seat. The receptionist told me the dental assistant and Dr. Barber would be with me shortly. Shortly thereafter, a nice young lady (sorry, I am terrible with names) greeted me and went over some of the basic medical questions. Lunch break came, so then the nice young lady handed the torch over to another nice lady to take good care of me. She outfitted me with a bib, and put a lead jacket on me. Took some X-rays of my chipped tooth, then went to consult with Dr. Barber. She was very nice and we made small talk whilst we waited for the doc. Dr. Barber came in and evaluated my x-ray. He looked in my mouth and told the dental assistant a bunch of medical terms and jargon. He then gave me the low down in layman's terms. Said I would need filings, and he could fit me in quick before his next consult. He told me another assistant would be in shortly to give me the break down of the costs, and numbed me up. The assistant came in shortly thereafter and gave me the breakdown. Was up front about what the costs were, and how much my insurance would cover. I assessed the costs, and gave them the thumbs up. I could not talk as my mouth was all numb. Dr. Barber and the assistant went right to work. Dr. Barber kept me informed the whole time, told me what he was doing, and why. The pain was kept to bare minimum. The doctor asked if I had any questions or concerns, then told me he wanted to see me back in a few weeks to discuss a more thorough examination. I was then walked down the hall, paid my bill, made my next appointment, and was free to go. I highly recommend this place and highly recommend Dr. Barber. The whole process from start to finish was somewhat painless. No one ever enjoys going to the dentist, but this visit was not as bad as I thought it would be. Enjoy.
