After a particularly grueling flight, I took BART home from SFO. Typically, I don't sit, much less put my bag on the seat and fall asleep, but I did this time, I was just way too tired. A few weeks later I noticed an incredibly itchy scalp. My fear was confirmed by what I saw on my pillow. Lice. As a grown-up. My first intuition was to just burn everything and shave my head bald but once reasoning and common sense kicked back in, I went on Yelp and found an organic solution, NitNurses(I'm hyper-sensitive to chemicals). They were also running a 40% off offer so I went with it. As embarrassing as it is for an adult, they were very friendly, understanding and professional and made me feel comfortable. They took care of me and told me what I had to do with my sheets, etc. To prevent a possible re-infestation. If this happens to you or if you have kids, I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

My two boys had never had it, and as a kid, I got it once, and my memories of my Mom and the RID she used with the little comb and me crying- I was not prepared and trying not to freak out! I googled and was at a loss at what to do and where to go. I appreciated finding someone who would come to us. AVA was AMAZING!! She was instantly likable, professional, and the first few moments she set foot in our house, we all felt - "ok, we are gonna be ok!" My daughter was very nervous, but she loved her, as did my 9 yr old son and my teenage son, all chatting away with her and laughing, as she checked the whole family. She was very thorough and gentle and super professional. This situation seriously started out as a damn nightmare for us, but we became educated and learned this is very common, we didn't do anything wrong, and it is a problem we can try and avoid in the future with some attention and care from the tips Ava gave us, but feeling like if it does happen again-we know who to call to help! While we hope to never get lice again- we all felt we made a friend in Ava and she will be the FIRST person I will recommend to friends and family, and the relief she has left us with has been totally worth the money spent!!! The treatment is coating the hair with their conditioner which is very high in peppermint oil so it can sting, especially on young children. After the first treatment, they strongly recommend that you purchase all of their products, including shampoo, conditioner, roll on oil, and upholstery spray. All of these are completely unnecessary. They want you to use the shampoo/conditioner treatment every day for 4 days and then come back for a second treatment/follow up. They admit that using their products may irritate your scalp since both are very high in essential oils. As a comparison, Nit Pixies does not recommend any of this and their process is just as successful.
