I have frequented Combine Brothers for years, and have always had a fantastic meal. Yes, you will receive an enormous portion of food and you will eat all of your leftovers later on because the food is that good. We usually stick to the same menu items, because they are too good not to. The carbonara is the best that I've ever had, and well worth the heart attack that I may suffer from eating it. The meatballs are flavorful and never dry. The pressed chicken sandwich with greens is great, too. We've ordered this a few times and the chicken is never dry, and the greens are always good. Not too salty or overpowering. The salad dressing is wonderful, and the rolls are huge. This is a carb lovers heaven. Great prices for the portions that you receive. read more

I was coming through around 9 PM at night and was tired and hungry for something other than fast food or gas station pizza. I drove by this place and determined that it was the best choice for the area. I wanted a steak. The only choice was a rib-eye. Not my favorite cut, but it is what I ordered. I expected a wangy steak that I would be gnawing on for the next hour, but it was fantastic! Great flavor and texture! I ordered rare, but received medium rare. (I prefer medium rare but always go under for first time experiences.) The roll was very soft and huge. The fried greens were fantastic. I am very picky on my greens, and would order them again in a heartbeat. The spaghetti was angel hair. The portion was huge, but I would have rather sent the spaghetti back and had another steak or two. Not a pasta junkie, so to me spaghetti is spaghetti. I would guess that there was over two pounds of it taking up space on my plate. I was seated in the back corner. Not very busy at that time of night, so I did not mind the quiet. The server was slow to get me started, but once I ordered, service was great. The benches were a bit uncomfortable after a day of driving, but the food made up for it! read more

My family and I went there last week while in Hermitage because it had great reviews online. But we were very disappointed. I got Diavolo (since reviews raved about it) and she got pizza. Both were very bland. The Diavolo was watery and tasted like nothing but tomatoes and cayenne pepper. I will say the servings were large, but we were highly disappointed with the flavor given the price of most dishes was between $12-$16. P.S. Something we noticed on the menu something along the lines of, "although we serve large portions, you will be assessed a surcharge of $4 if you split an entree with anyone." Decent place to go in town. I go here a few times a year for a change, but I do think there is better Italian food in the area. Yes, the portions are huge, but so are the prices....remember...this is a PASTA...not Filet.... cost is about .75 cents for a pound wholesale?..and most dishes on the menu are about $15.00- $20.00 so I feel like you should have plenty of left over food if your paying $19.00 for linguine and clams in place that doesnt even have padding on the plywood painted booths...The kitchen also has no fryers & does not serve liquor..Like I said...its decent food....with casual atmosphere. read more

A hard rating to give because the dinner entrees are outstanding. That said, the service is iffy and spotty - some staff can be grumpy. The dinner rolls are as big as your head but lack taste and edibility (yeah, they are hard to eat). When I complained to our server about it her reply was "we get complaints about that all the time, next time order a different sauce. While traveling I use Yelp to find places to eat.... Yelp did not disappoint! Thank you to all those writing reviews! It is so helpful! The portions are very large, and the food is very good! Great sauce and salad and those rolls!!! OMG! I have leftovers for lunch today and can't wait to eat them! GREAT FOOD! love the baked ziti with meatballs. The giant fresh baked rolls and house salad dressing are AMAZING! This is one of the best italian restraunts in the 3 neighboring counties. If you are looking for a great variety of Italian foods, this is the place. My husband, teenage son and 6 year old son, love it here as well. We definitly go whenever we have the chance. My husband loves the spicy diablo sauce, and my little one loves the pizza. The servings are large and even my biggest eater always has leftovers to bring home. read more

Went there for dinner last night & OH MY was I sorry! Sorry I haven't been there sooner! I haven't been there for awhile & don't know why. We ordered the greens for an appetizer & they came out hot & yummy - with their homemade hot & crusty rolls - that was almost a meal in itself! Our waitress Linda was very attentive! Refilled our drinks without having to wait.Our salads were amazing & then the main feast came out. White clam sauce with linguine! AMAZING-Hot & steamy -So many clams. Combine Brothers is my absolute favorite place to go eat at! I am in love with their salad dressing! They also give you gigantic rolls that are always fresh! My favorite thing to order is Chicken Parm. I love the seasoning and their tomato sauce! You definitely walk out full. First time, ok experience, may go back but not when busy. Combine was pack tonight but, we were told 20 minutes and when in on a minute over. Good estimation on the hostesses part. We would have waited a bit longer as we were hungry and the smell of the tomato sauce slapped us silly. We sat down waitress came right over politely and started to take our order. The wedding soup had too much pepper and broth, like skimming the top and not stirring. The bread was so-so, not very flavorful. However, my eggplant parm with fettuccine was cooked perfect. Just the right amount of cheese on (non-breaded) thick slices of eggplant. My wife's shrimp pesto was also very good. Yet, we were not impressed with our sons burger, a bit dry, but our youngest did make a mess of her spaghetti, and meat ball that was the size of her head. She was very happy. The waitress did a fair job of clearing the tables but never excused herself reaching over into the booth. She did however keep the glasses full and was eye full of what was going on eye on us - appreciated. Overall, it was an ok experience but to wait 20 minutes again is not going to happen. There is really nothing around so it's a misnomer that the please is great. The portions are huge but you are getting for what you pay for, the place isn't cheap. Combines is not the restaurant it once was. I just returned from there and was very disappointed with my meal. The menu is a lot different and not for the better I'm afraid. I had the shaved sirloin sandwich with greens, which was quite bland, with a side of penne pasta, which was terribly undercooked. I had the server take that back. One would hope that a restaurant would take advantage of the plentiful produce that is in season, and locally grown, such as kale or collard greens, for Italian greens, instead of bagged escarole. Also, the use of garden garlic would be key here as well, rather than the jarred minced kind, such as what was used in my meal. And no, all salad dressings are NOT homemade. They too are commercial brands. A big let down. Instead of focusing on quantity and the huge amount of pasta that is given, which people are more drawn to I suppose....I prefer quality. That quality that is not there anymore. And having cob webs above you hanging on the light fixture was the nail in the coffin for me. I won't be returning. That's too bad. Take the trip to Howland, Ohio, and eat at Leo's. They make Combines look like Denny's. read more

Good enough because there don't seem to be a lot of choices in this area. The portions are pretty huge so I doubt any normal sized human being could finish an entree alone. The bread is pretty good and so is the house salad. The house dressing is balsamic vinegar and oil blended and it's pink! I swear it's pink but it's tasty if you like that kind if dressing. My favorite is the baked ziti with the pink pepper sauce which is a combination of their Alfredo and diablo which is loaded with tomatoes and chunks of zucchini. I also love their marinara, tomato and bacon and tomato sauces. They also make an incredible steak and greens panini. You will never leave hungry and will also leave with yummy leftovers. read more

I was reading other peoples reviews and I have to say that people are either way too picky or just leave bad feedback no matter what because this place has been excellent every time I've been there and it's been close to 20 visits. Yes they basically have one dressing for their salads but you can ask for something else, but the dressing that comes with it is really good and tasty. The portions you get are huge so people complaining about the cost are probably really large and eat way too much, plus the cost is lower compared to most places I eat at in the Pittsburgh area so it's a great deal and you basically get two meals out of it. The atmosphere is great and the service and staff are always top notch. We drive from Pittsburgh almost monthly to eat there because it's that good. My only complaint is I wish they had a location closer so we could go more regularly. read more

Yes the portions are huge, but you are still overpaying for mediocre sauces on boxed pasta. I've tried multiple menu items and everything I've tried, from the pasta dishes, to the pizza, to sticking with only a bowl of soup, has made me sick. We have friends who love this place because they have huge boxes of leftovers to take home we so end up here a few times a year and spend the next day taxing our plumbing. I visited this place for only the second time in my life. I wasn't impressed the first time but that was many years ago. We were seated quickly and service was prompt and friendly. We sat in a booth and the benches were just wood without any kind of cushion....not comfortable. The salad was just lettuce served on a board. No olives, croutons, cucumber, tomato, or anything else that makes a salad a salad. They didn't ask what kind of dressing we wanted so I guess you don't have a choice. My brother did ask for vinegar and oil and he did get it. I didn't care for the dressing. I'm not sure what it was but it wasn't very good. I had linguine with olive pesto and my brother had fettuccine with a red sauce and bacon. He liked the sauce but you could just barely taste the bacon. There seemed to be enough pesto on my linguine but it hardly had any flavor. The rolls were really large and fresh but not warm. Warm rolls would have been nice. They give you plenty of butter. The portions are really large but the prices are high for a plate of noodles. We each had a build your own pasta dish and one domestic beer. We were disappointed that you could only order beer or wine...no mixed drinks. With a $5 tip our bill was a little over $36. Not a huge amount of money but over priced for what you get. Lettuce, flavorless noodles and big rolls. It wasn't the worse meal I ever had but if you're looking for a good Italian meal--keep looking. read more
